2 : COLUMBIA UNVERSITY OSA OFFICER S MEETING (TALKING POINTS) : Columbia Unversity OSA Officer s meeting (talking points) I. Website a. Up and running with membership forms c. Get our website listed on the main OSA website (Kishore) d. Get a general OSA account from CUIT (Kishore) II. Consider writing a constitution (Jeff) a. Other OSA chapters focus on three main tasks: guest lectures, community outreach, and interaction with industry b. Which of these will we focus on? Guest lectures and interaction with industry III. Funds / Funding a. Get the Employer Identification Number (EIN) (Rich) b. Open checking account under the name OSA Student Chapter Columbia University (Rich) c. Membership fee remittance: investigate whether we get a discount on our student fees (Kishore) d. Monetize a Google site, sit back (All) IV. Activity a. We missed April 30th deadline for July Dec. Events b. Next deadline is Oct. 31, for Jan-June Events c. Will incur debt to have pizza at the general meeting (under our current financial outlook) d. Inagural event for the Fall i. Plan during the third officer s meeting ii. In the meantime, think about the question, What are the incentives to join the OSA student chapter? (Everyone) iii. Optics drinks (Rich) V.
