2 A touch football gala day held by a Booth College in Bexley. We ve seen lives transformed by hope, but there are still many living without it. There are many ways you can spread hope and joy this Christmas. We invite you to look through this document for inspiration on how you can make a difference this Christmas. The Salvation Army helps more than 1 million Australians each year, particularly during the Christmas season, and we rely on the support of generous Australians like you to make this happen. Involving your colleagues in generously supporting the work of The Salvation Army over Christmas will not only give hope to others, it will also help bring the true spirit of Christmas into your workplace. Keep reading for details of how you and your workplace can support The Salvos this Christmas. The Salvation Army assists over 70,000 households each Christmas: Fundraising Suggestions Christmas Party Collection Christmas Party Auction Morning Tea Percentage of product sales Family Sport Day Ask staff members to make a donation upon entry to your Christmas party. Ask your staff, clients and suppliers to donate items to auction at your Christmas party. Host a morning tea with Christmas treats like gingerbread, Christmas cake, shortbread and candy canes. Align your business and the direct sale of your products or services to raise funds for The Salvation Army during December. See salvos.org.au/ get-involved/help-us-fundraise Organise a round robin tournament of your favourite sport. 50,000 meals $9 helps fill a hungry belly with hot, nourishing soup and fresh bread. Office Collection Tin Place one of our collection tins in your office to collect donations throughout the Christmas period. Call (02) to organise your tin. 470,000 gifts 2500 beds $20 lets a child in need know they re special this Christmas with a gift. $99 helps provide crisis accommodation for a night. Companies can also support their staff s fundraising efforts by matching the dollars raised over the Christmas period. This demonstrates solidarity, and significantly enhances the overall donation and impact of the company s Christmas gift. 3 Streetlevel Team Christmas Party. Salvos Christmas Gift Shop Visit The Salvation Army s online gift shop and purchase a Christmas gift for someone in need, on behalf of someone you love. All gifts are tax deductible and come with a Christmas card for you to give to your loved one. Your Christmas Gift Shop We can create a co-branded gift shop, which displays your company logo and customised message. We will also create a unique URL to direct to your page. Workplace (payroll) Giving Workplace Giving is a great way for employees to contribute to the community through regular donations that are automatically deducted from each pay. Employees receive immediate tax benefits and 100% of the donation is sent directly to the charity. Workplace Giving allows employees and employers to be seen as socially conscious and community minded, aids employee engagement and helps engender trust amongst company stakeholders. Matched Workplace Giving Companies can add value to their staff s Workplace Giving by implementing a matching Working Giving program. Matched Workplace Giving means that businesses match employees donations and is a powerful incentive for staff to donate. 4 Toy Donations Online You can donate toys online via the Simply Giving website. Not only is this a convenient way for your workplace to donate toys, it reduces The Salvation Army s distribution expenses, meaning more money is available to help others. To donate a toy to The Salvos: 1. Visit 2. Follow the instructions to set up a toy drive for your workplace and register The Salvation Army as your beneficiary charity. 3. Choose the gift you want to share, pay through the secure payment system and Simply Giving will organise for the toy to be delivered to a Salvation Army centre where it will help make this Christmas special for a child and their family. At your office If your company is kind enough to collect gifts for The Salvation Army this Christmas, please remember these simple guidelines: Please leave gifts unwrapped as this allows parents to personally select suitable gifts for their children. This is a more effective and dignified way of allocating gifts. Please only donate brand new gifts. Sadly, the gift you donate might be the only present a child receives this Christmas, so we try our best to ensure each child receives a gift that is brand new. Consider a gift voucher, they re an ideal gift for older children, teenagers and adults. Alternatively, a gift voucher means a parent who is struggling to make ends meet doesn t have to miss out on the joy of purchasing their child a gift direct from the store. Other suggestions: brand new sporting equipment, DVDs, puzzles and games, art and craft packs and clothing. 5 Volunteer Even though Christmas is a busy time, we know that a lot of workplaces like to take time out to support the Salvos. Christmas Collection Points We need your help collecting. You can do it by yourself or in pairs, all you need to do is stand and smile, and thank the generous public that donate. When: 1st - 23rd December Where: Various locations in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne CBDs Time: shifts from 7:30am - 9:30am and 11:30 am - 1:30pm daily. Contact: Bec on (02) or rebecca.cundasamy@aue.salvationarmy.org Candle Bag Packing Help us pack 10,000 candle bags to be sold at Carols in the Domain, raising over $100,000 for The Salvos. When: 18th November - 27th November Where: Hoxton Park, NSW Time: shifts from 9:30am - 12:30pm and 1:30pm - 4:30pm daily. 55 people per shift. Contact: Bec on (02) or rebecca.cundasamy@aue.salvationarmy.org Become a Christmas Elf We need volunteers to help us sort and pack Christmas toy and food donations, and assist with driving and delivering items. When: 2nd November - 23rd December? Where: Various locations across Australia Time: 2 hours minimum please. Contact: your local Salvos rep (details last page). Volunteer at a Christmas Lunch Help us prepare and serve food, set up decorations, and pack up at a Christmas lunch for people doing it tough.
