1 REGIONAL POLITICAL PARTIES

2 SHIROMANI AKALI DAL Shiromani Akali Dal is an important regional party of Punjab. Besides Punjab, this party has influenced in some areas of Haryana, Rajasthan and Delhi. This Party came into being on December14, 1920 due to the efforts of Master Tara Singh and Baba Kharak Singh. In the beginning, the aim of this Party was to get the release of Holy Gurudwada from the possession of Mahants and maintain their sanctity. A forceful movement was launched from 1920 to 1925 to achieve this aim. About 30,000 Sikhs thronged the jails and nearly 400 Sikhs sacrificed their lives for the sake of this great mission. At least, the government had to yield and Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandak Committee was established in 1926 for the administration of Gurudwaras. Thus, the Akali Dal was purely religious in nature got recognition as a Political Party.
