We provide collection services which are fit for purpose and specific to the individual needs of each customer. We research each customer s requirements and propose practical, workable waste collection techniques, with business-specific waste containers and collection frequencies. The EnterpriseManchester approach facilitates statutory compliance. It contributes to environmental responsibility within a cost effective framework. EnterpriseManchester provides the following waste management services; Dry waste collection Recycling Services Storage Collection and disposal of waste that is: - Confidential - Chemical - Hazardous - Bulky - Heavy EnterpriseManchester is a partnership between Manchester City Council and the UK s leading provider of environmental services, Enterprise. It combines the expertise, waste management techniques and experience of both partner organisations. It implements services for waste management and collection that are distinctive to Manchester s needs and contribute to the economic amenity of the city. - Clinical EnterpriseManchester provides waste management services for organisations of all sizes and across all sectors throughout the city and in nearby areas. 3
3 Sectors EnterpriseManchester provides tailored collection services that are specific to the nature and volume of the waste generated by our customers and the location from which they operate. EnterpriseManchester offers; Collection arrangements scheduled to customer needs Full documentation for statutory compliance Lockable, electronically chipped and manoeuvrable containers For businesses within the city centre, where storage space is at a premium, EnterpriseManchester has a range of waste containers in different sizes. A bespoke collection arrangement is made with every customer to meet the most demanding needs. Hotels, Pubs and Restaurants For hotels, pubs and restaurants, EnterpriseManchester provides a variety of collection services, including glass recycling. Customers are given dedicated glass collection containers which segregate glass from other types of waste. Offices EnterpriseManchester offers paper recycling services which include the collection, shredding and disposal of confidential waste. We provide bins and bags that are specially designed for waste paper collection. The number of containers provided is determined by staff numbers. Waste paper is taken to our disposal facility where it is baled and sent for recycling. Confidential Waste EnterpriseManchester operates a strict audit control procedure providing each customer with complete documentation of shredding and disposal. Retailers We have a range of services specifically for the retail sector, to assist with compliance with the Packaging Directive. This includes paper and cardboard recycling. For general waste, EnterpriseManchester provides container systems appropriate to the particular needs of each business and its location. Other waste items such as out of date or non-specification can be collected separately and appropriately destroyed. For this type of waste EnterpriseManchester operates a strict control procedure, providing documentary evidence of collection and disposal arrangements to all customers. EnterpriseManchester can also provide advice and assistance to retailers to ensure they comply with their consumer information obligations in relation to packaging disposal. Manufacturers For manufacturing businesses, EnterpriseManchester offers a range of waste management techniques that ensure hazardous and non hazardous production waste, together with general waste are appropriately segregated, collected, transported and disposed. Builders We have a collection service designed specifically to meet the requirements of customers who produce bulky or heavy construction waste. We are able to provide large skip containers capable of handling heavy and bulky waste, dry non-hazardous waste, inert materials from demolition or construction, excavated soil and special waste
4 Waste Services EnterpriseManchester has a range of waste services, suitable for all commercial needs. General Waste Collection We provide a cost effective commercial waste collection service, individually designed to meet the particular needs of each business. Included in this assessment are the nature of the waste streams, waste volume and the location. The waste containers available range from; 40 litre, 660 litre or 1100 litre wheeled bins, 4 or 6 cubic metre front end loaders 9.2 and 10.7 rear end loaders, sheeted or covered Compacting facilities 5.4, 9.2, 15.3 and 26.8 cubic metre bulk containers Recycling Services EnterpriseManchester offers a range of recycling services capable of responding to the most diverse of waste streams. Our services include: Glass Paper Plastic Cans Cardboard Electronic waste We can develop bespoke packages for the recycling of wood and timber, construction and demolition materials and plastics. Hazardous Waste EnterpriseManchester provides waste collection services for hazardous waste, including the collection of clinical waste. We can provide collection services for clinical waste to residential care homes, clinics and health centres, veterinary practices, surgeries and dental practices. Appropriate exchangeable waste containers are provided to each customer according to specific business needs. All hazardous waste compliance documentation is provided and completed by EnterpriseManchester to ensure compliance with the Duty of Care. The Duty of Care Obligations All organisations that produce waste are subject to a statutory obligation under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 to ensure that their waste is appropriately and safely collected, transported and disposed. This Duty of Care applies to anyone who imports, produces, carries, keeps, treats or disposes of controlled waste or, has control of such waste. The Act requires that correct procedures are adopted and followed to manage the waste an organisation produces; arranging for appropriate storage, collection and disposal. For each collection, transport and disposal that occurs, customers are required to complete and retain a Waste Transfer Note for a period of two years. The Waste Transfer Note must identify the nature of the waste, its quantity, how it is stored, time and place of transfer and the name and address of the producer and the waste management company. Meeting Customers Obligations EnterpriseManchester can fulfil the duty of care obligations on behalf of customers. We provide annual Waste Transfer Note statements to each of our trade customers in advance of their renewal dates. We store all Waste Transfer Notes for the required period and can make historical information available as necessary. This provides customers with a level of assurance that they are fulfilling their statutory obligations, whilst also providing the flexibility to accommodate any changes in the nature of the waste produced.
