4 Roller Blind XL ROLLER BLIND TUBE The Roller Blind XL is available in many different tubes and dimensions and therefore split into: MANUAL CONTROL Medium (for small to medium sized blinds) Extruded aluminium tube, Ø 31mm Extruded aluminium tube, Ø 37 mm Extruded aluminium tube, Ø 50 mm Large (for medium to large sized blinds) Extruded aluminium tube, Ø 50 mm Extruded aluminium tube, Ø 62 mm 70 The diameter of the tube depends on the dimensions of the blind and the weight of the fabric FIXING BRACKETS TYPE 10 Medium sized Brackets are made of zinc plated or powder coated steel, size 38, 46 and 55 mm. Pearl chrome aluminium, size 38, 46 and 55 mm. Applications: The Roller Blind XL is applicable for: Wall fixing Ceiling fixing Side fixing (not applicable for pearl chrome and large 55 mm brackets) INSTALLATION: Easy installation by patented spring loaded end-plug. The Roller Blind can be supplied as Type 20 with a mounting profile to provide faster installation. The brackets that can be used together with the mounting profile are the 46 and 55 mm brackets (Medium sized). Easy to change operation side. Standard 1:1 gear, for reduced operating force 1.75:1 and 3:1. For larger sizes is a gear clutch 1.75:1 applicable or 3:1 geared clutch. The clutch comes with a locking device for easy installation and safe use. The blinds can be back or front rolling. 6 Roller Blind XL CASSETTE PROFILE A natural anodized aluminium extrusion or colour coated aluminium extrusion. Dimension of the cassette is 87 x 87 mm with fixed steel brackets or 102 x 102 mm. The blinds can be front or back rolling. The cassette consists of 2 or 3 profiles: A base profile and flat or L-shaped front profile, alternatively a U-shaped profile (pocket profile), with or without a closing profile. 7 Innovations COUPLING OF BLINDS All types can be coupled with one or several further units. Maximum of 3 units can be coupled on 1 operation system. The coupled unit can be mounted directly next to each other with 1 bracket or at a distance with 2 brackets and a longer coupling shaft COUPLED UNITS ARE AVAILABLE FOR 2 SITUATIONS 1. Straight coupling unit: allows a maximum angle of 15º between 2 blinds next to each other. 2. Couple units (joints) for connecting blinds in bay windows or corners, available in 45º and 90º. Minimum gap between 2 coupled blinds is 19 mm, maximum gap 300 mm. 8 EOS Nano Roller Blind HUNTERDOUGLAS NANO ROLLER BLIND The HunterDouglas EOS Nano Roller Blind is available in two versions: Single version: small side guided Roller Blind system with one cassette, ideal for smaller windows Double version: small side guided Roller Blind system with double cassette, Top Down/Bottom Up function OPERATION Single version: Top Down or Bottom Up function (depends on mounting direction) Double version: Top Down/Bottom Up function Operation is not hampered by window and door handles due to the small compact cassette. Operating wand assist to operate the cassettes on a higher situated window. The free blind positioning controls daylight and creates privacy combined with fresh air. Because its direct installation the HunterDouglas EOS Nano Roller Blind is perfectly suitable for tilt-and-turn windows up to a 15 angle inclination and glass doors. The new HunterDouglas EOS Nano Roller Blind is an interior roller blind with easy to mount tape/click system mounted directly on the window pane, without drilling or screwing, with a window frame integrated appearance. SYSTEM Tube The tube is a special engineered 12 mm anodised precision tube, 1.0 mm wall thickness, with integrated spring motor, to roll up the fabric or foil in an ingenious small aluminium cassette that can be operated in a continuously variable way. When operated the fabric glides along the two low depth aluminium side guiding channels. Cassette and side guiding profiles Extruded aluminium profile, size 27.3 x 34.3 mm (wxh), with powder coated finish. Available colours white (RAL 9016) and metalized grey (RAL 9006). FABRICS Fire Retardant fabrics according to B1/M1, thickness: 0.25mm Fabric is fixed close to the window pane. Between the fabric and window pane is a small air pocket. Glass breakage at large in- and outside temperature differences are no risk (guided by a certificate from Ift Institute Rosenheim). A Single Roller Blind system INSTALLATION: The system will be taped on the glass of the window for in recess installation. Clips will be used for on face installation. Easy mounting and demounting without traces of the blind on the glass. Mounting does not depend on type, angle or material of glass beading. To achieve combinations of a black out solution together with a transparent solution. The blind in front of the Roller Blind can be a Duette Shade, a Plisse Shade or a Roller Blind. The Hunter Douglas screen fabric is held under tension through-out its travel and can be stopped in any position. A stainless steel wire acts as both a guide and a restraint for the aluminium hem bar and eliminates the need for relieving rollers or other forms of intermediate screen fabric support. 12 Indoor Environmental Quality & Productivity PRODUCTIVITY Energy saving strategies and natural resources like daylight, can create a comfortable and productive environment for occupants. Smart, sustainable design that provides good indoor environmental quality is a proven and profitable investment. Seemingly small increases of as little as 1% in productivity could result in a much higher payback than the reduced cost of energy. Workspaces which are comfortable, naturally lit and allow occupants to connect with outdoor space can improve productivity and reduce absenteeism. Research on the relationship between day lighting and productivity shows that the use of daylight without glare resulted in productivity gains in the order of 4%. To fully optimise the benefits of daylight, control systems can be integrated in the sun control solution. SUSTAINABILITY & INDOOR ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY The environmental footprint of a building includes such factors as the use of energy, water, materials and resources. HunterDouglas Sun Control Systems and Window Covering products can play an excellent role in reducing the environmental footprint, whilst at the same time enhancing the thermal and visual dimensions of indoor environmental quality. COMFORT Comfort can be described as the state of mind that expresses satisfaction with the surrounding environment. Indoor environmental quality has essentially four dimensions: 1. Thermal comfort; 2. Visual comfort; 3. Acoustic comfort; 4. Indoor air quality. It is an accepted fact that people prefer to experience daylight through visual contact with the outside world. This is therefore, generally recognized as an important factor in influencing people s positive emotional state. Situations that cause visual discomfort can frequently arise. 13 Energy and Light Tool The function of Window Coverings is to provide visual comfort and heat control. The primary function of interior window coverings is to reduce glare levels and diffusing daylight. The primary function of External Window Coverings is heat control. THERMAL COMFORT External Window Coverings will prevent excessive solar heat gain and reduce the need for cooling in the summer. Moreover, it will also reduce - if not eliminate - the high capacity of cooling equipment needed, resulting in a reduction in the initial investment cost. In colder climates, External Window Coverings will enable the use of solar energy to help heat the building in winter. This is often overlooked when solar control glass is selected for heat control. The Hunter Douglas Energy Tool helps finding an optimum solution by quantifying the effects of various External Window Coverings. The pay-off will be reduced energy costs and often reduced investment cost, and on top of that: reduced greenhouse gas emission during the operation phase of the building. Indoor and outdoor temperature without External Window Covering Thermal comfort at a minimal environmental impact calls for a careful matching of glazing, Sun Control and HVAC equipment. Indoor and outdoor temperature with External Window Covering VISUAL COMFORT Interior Window Coverings enable the use of free renewable daylight to the maximum extent, so significantly reducing the need for artificial lighting and avoiding the associated cooling loads. The accepted factor in creating visual comfort states that the contrast within the field of view should not exceed a factor of 10. The contrast between the central visual task and its direct surroundings should not exceed a factor of 3. When designing an office space, questions often arise around what measures should be considered to guarantee the right level of visual comfort? The Hunter Douglas Light Tool makes the assessment of visual comfort tangible by calculating luminance levels for a model office with and without window coverings. The amount and type of glass, the orientation of the façade, the geographical location, weather, season and time of day are all taken into account before recommendations are made. The Light Tool helps client s asses which window covering provides the aesthetic and performance levels needed to create visual comfort for their particular project Contrast factor 1:3: Light Tool calculations are based on Radiance (Lawrence Berkeley Laboratories).
