4 This is a Whole Brain Teaching Five Step Lesson on sentences and fragments for K-12 students. Step 1: Question: What is a sentence? (What is a fragment?) Step 2: Answer with gesture: A sentence is a complete message. (A fragment is not a complete message.) Step 3: Explore: examples of sentences and fragments. Step 4: Test: Use the Quick Test to assess student understanding of sentences and fragments. Step 5: Write: Students apply what they have learned, writing tightly organized paragraphs that involve changing fragments into sentences.

12 When you are using Mirror Words, speak slowly, using only 3-7 words at a time, so that your students have time to repeat what you say. Use whatever gestures you wish... but move your hands!
