1 HOLIDAYS HOMEWORK CLASS - VI ( ) Summer Vacation is a welcome break- Break from the fixed schedule, rules and regulations of school, freedom from Teachers and time table. Freedom brings more responsibility keeping this in mind, we have planned most of the activities for you to keep you engaged positively and your energy well-directed. We are giving you a variety of fun-filled activities and worksheets which you can do during the vacation. Do them neatly and submit the assignments to your teacher. Wishing all of you a very enjoyable and fun-packed summer break. GUIDELINES Do the work neatly as per the given instructions. Time management is really important. Frame your schedule in such a way that a little work is done every day. Enjoy the activities so that work becomes fun. 2 ENGLISH Make a folder using A4 size coloured sheets and present it beautifully. 1. Read J. K Rowling s famous book Harry Potter and the Philosopher s Stone. Write a short summary of the story (75 words) and name the main characters. Choose 10 interesting adjectives from the book and find their dictionary meanings. Find one synonym and one antonym for all the 10 words. Make interesting sentences using the 10 words. 2. Make a book cover for the above book. Remember, that the book cover has the name of the book, author, illustrator and an illustration. Use a thick A4 size sheet and be as creative as you can. 3. During holidays get into the habit of writing a diary. At the end of the day highlight the interesting events in your diary. Do it for 15 days. 4. (Do the following work in your Grammar notebook) a) Write an article for your school magazine on a travel location that you visited during summer vacation. b) Recently your school celebrated the Sports Day and you had been a part of the Marchpast band of your school. Write a letter to your friend who stays in Dubai, describing the celebrations that took place in your school. (Do the following work in your MCB notebook) c) Read L-4 'King Arthur and the Excalibur' of MCB and do the question-answer of Section C. 5. Make a colourful chart along with related pictures on the following topics according to your Roll No: Roll no 1-10 Indian Writers and their Books Roll No Short Story along with Pictures Roll No Proverbs and Quotations Roll No 31 onwards Poem along with Pictures MATHEMATICS SOLVE THE FOLLOWING: Q1. Chart should be made according to the mentioned roll numbers All the sheets should be named with their roll numbers properly. SCIENCE Q1. Collect 10 leaves from different kinds of plants. Dry them and paste them on A3 Size sheet. Write the type of venation seen in each leaf. Also write the name of the plant. Q2. Find out information on generation of electricity by water and wind. Prepare a project in a separate file on the same topic, also paste colorful relevant pictures.

Make a constellation Design based on your birth horoscope (Using different items of crafts such as stones, bindis and match sticks etc.) and write its characteristic features. Q3. Design a cover page related to the theme 'Our Social Science world' and cover your scrapbook with it. B: CREATIVE WRITING: ( A4 size sheet)- Q1. Write an essay on your own culture and region and how different it is from others. ( words) C: CASE STUDY: ( Project work)- Q1. Prepare a detailed case study on the life and work of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. (within 3-5 pages) D. READ CHAPTER- 2 'Diversity and discrimination' of Civics and attempt the following questions in classwork notebook:- Q1. Mention the Fundamental Rights given in the Indian Constitution. Q2. How was Indian society divided in ancient times? How did this lead to caste based discrimination later on? Q3. How are Stereotypes created? What effects do they have on individuals and society? Q4. What do you mean by Prejudice? How does prejudice lead to discrimination? Q5. Mention some provisions in our Constitution which guarantee equality. Note: Learn Question- Answers of different chapters done so far.
