2 ORDER FULFILMENT SYSTEMS ORDER FULFILMENT SYSTEM ORDER FULFILMENT PROCESS The Order fulfilment system, or OFS, is specifically designed by SSI Schaefer for the modern warehouse facility requiring fast order turn around, controlled and efficient picking, optimised stock movement and availability coupled with efficient dispatch methods. Based on the large number of systems implemented worldwide, four basic systems have been developed from a relatively small and simple system to a fully automated high capacity OFS. In general, this process describes all activities from point of sale inquiry to delivery of a product to the end user, often also referred to as the logistics process. In short: The way companies respond to customers' orders. 4 3 1 2 Ssi schaefer order fulfilment solutions... automation for any product range in various sizes 1 EMPTY TRANSPORT UNITS Carton induction - When using cartons, these can be erected and labelled manually, semi-automatically or fully automated. Erected cartons are buffered before feeding them into the system. For high dynamic requirements cartons can be labelled automatically. Tote induction - Where needed, an automatic tote de-stacker provides higher buffer capacity on a small footprint. 2 ORDER LAUNCH At the order launch the transport units for the picked goods are assigned to an order and fed into the system. Depending on the requirements this can be designed as a manual to fully automated system. An automatic order launch considers e.g. tour departure time or picking loop utilisation to automatically feed cartons or totes into the system. Note insertion - Notes such as picking lists can automatically be inserted into the transport unit. 3 GOODS-TO-MAN PICKING Schäfer Carousel System - The SCS is a highly dynamic, fully automatic warehousing system. It provides an extremely high storage density and enables handling of almost all types of products. Pick-to-Tote Workstation - Very ergonomic workstation, designed to optimally support the operator. It perfectly matches the requirements of Goods-to-Man picking and due to intuitive light guidance it is very easy to use. Light curtains allow to automatically confirm the picking process and to detect possible picking errors. 4 MAN-TO-GOODS PICKING RF-Picking (Radio Frequency) - Supported with radio frequency terminals this picking method excels by an online interface and high flexibility. Quality can be assured by scanning check barcodes as part of the picking process. Pick by Voice - Very flexible voice guided picking method with online interface to the Warehouse control system. Allows hands-free and high quality picking.

5 Pick by Light - The light guided system makes it easy to use and easy to learn. It generates a high throughput with virtually no picking errors. Paper based picking - A simple and very flexible picking method, suitable for low dynamic requirements. Strapping - Strapping of transport units protect the picked contents from unauthorized access. Shipping labels - Labels with relevant shipping information (e.g. address) are printed and applied either manually or automatically. 5 QUALITY ASSURANCE & PACKING Weigh check - To automatically detect potential picking errors weigh scales can be integrated into the system. Integrated Q/A or correcting station - Either for quality assurance on a random basis or for correcting detected potential picking errors stations can be integrated into the system. Packing station - Packing picked goods, adding dunnage, closing cartons or totes. 6 FULL CASE PICKING For orders with high quantities, full cases are picked in this area, which is far more economic than picking single items. 7 Dispatch SORTATION Finished transport units are sorted to dispatch spurs. Depending on the type of transport unit and the weight, these spurs can be accumulation roller conveyor, gravity roller conveyor, or gravity roller conveyor with braking fields. Closing - Cartons and totes can be closed either automatically or manually.

6 SSI SCHAEFER ORDER FULFILMENT SOLUTIONS... automation for any product range in various sizes This basic system comprises of shelf locations for stock storage and a central conveyor system with pick stations and is controlled by a simple offline interface with the WMS. As this system is based on paper pick it eliminates the need for an often costly Warehouse Control System (WCS). At the order launch station the picking slip will be scanned and linked to the fixed barcode on the transport unit. The barcode on the picking slip contains routing information so the conveyor system can divert the transport unit into the relevant picking zone. The required picks and the correct pick locations can be taken from the picking slip. Once the pick is fulfilled the transport unit is placed on the conveyor and transported to another zone or to the dispatch area. Installing the majority of pick locations on a mezzanine floor offers great space saving benefits whilst the fast moving stock on pallets and the more enhanced dispatch conveyor system are on the ground floor allowing for easy access when moving pallets. 7 megapick This more advanced system is controlled by the SSI Schaefer developed Convey software modules, and benefits from an online host interface and a supervisor cockpit for easy control. This standard software supports picking with RF terminals, increasing pick accuracy by scanning product barcodes and confirming quantities during the picking process. Information about picking, product availability (zero check or shortages) is immediately transferred to the host system which allows for a quick response by the supervisors to unexpected issues. This system also includes for pack stations, Quality Control stations and has included for an inline strapping solution to secure the goods to be shipped. The online host interface with the Convey WCS allows for immediate update of the different operational elements such as outstanding orders, stock updates, picked and dispatched orders. A semi-automatic carton erector and an automated carton closing machine have been included supporting the high throughputs of this solution. The ergonomically designed pick stations are equipped with the latest Pick By Light (PBL) technology ensuring a simple pick operation free of errors, even for temporary staff enlisted during peak times. Online pick confirmation from the PBL system and integrated weigh scales confirm the pick and allow for automated transport to Quality Control work stations where potential errors and/or shortages can be rectified.
