5 2 GENERAL DESCRIPTION 2.1 General description of device Relay unit RU8-BAC operates eight outputs relay. Control is via the line RS485 on protocol BACnet with communication of states of all eight relays and position states of switch for manual control. Each relay can be controlled remotely or manually. These relay units contain one NO and NC voltage-free contact for wider use of control. Unit panel is equipped with eight three-position switches that switch relays mode. The mode can be chosen as automatic, it means the control is through BACnet, or manual mode on and off. Switching on the relay is indicated with lighting of the appropriate LED light. 2.2 Connection example 5

6 3 PREPARING FOR USE 3.1 Initial preparation The product is separately packed into plastic bag and placed in a little cardboard (when delivering more pieces, the products can be packed in a transport cardboard only). Open the cardboard carefully, remove the product from the plastic bag and check the state of the product visually. The product is built in the cabinet MODULBOX 9M with grey colour with possibility of fixing into control cabinet on the lath DIN35. On both sides of the cabinet, at the top and bottom, there are PCB electronics. On the top side of the product it is placed eight three-position toggle switches. Above the toggle switches under plexiglass there are red status LEDs for each relay separately. On the bottom plate there are green pull out connectors for easy installation or simple change of device. On the top side of bottom plate 2 red DIP switches are ready for parameterization and USB connector. This product mustn t be exposed with shock, vibration and action of harmful vapors and gasses. 3.2 Composition of device The device is delivered separately in plastic cabinet Modulbox 9M including five pieces of green connectors seated in the socket. 7 3.3 Supply voltage Supply voltage of the device is 24V DC with tolerance 10 %. The polarity of power connector must be complied, see connectors. 3.4 Installation The device is ready for installation into control cabinet on DIN lath. Wires are connected into terminals after installation of the device. 3.5 Connection of connectors 1. Connectors of outputs relay 1-8 (terminal plate 1-24) are connected as follows: 2. Connector X4 is used for power of the device For power of the device it must be used stabilized power supply 24V DC voltage. 3.6 Checking of the activity indication of device after turning on Device has several indication LED lights. Their placement is seen in Pict. 1 above. These indicators show state of the device. Indication Power Immediately after switching on green LED light power is lit up, it indicates voltage in processor. Indication of program running Indication After one second from switching on the device, the light INDICATION starts to flash yellow. The light indicates three different states of device: - indication NO CONNECTION lights 0,05s ( flashes ), it does not light 1s device did not find another device or there is a mistake in communication - indication CONNECTED lights 0,03s, it does not light 0,03s device communicates with one or more devices - indication for revival of factory settings, it LIGHTS 1s, it DOES NOT LIGHT 1s it indicates process for revival of basic setting Indication of communication RS485 Three yellow LED lights indicate communication in the lowest layer of the RS485. LED light for TRANSMISSION indicates transmission of data from device. LED light for RECEIVED indicates received of date into device. LED light for SWITCHING indicates state, when device is switched into transmission and cast the line in such a way that other device cannot transmit smoothly at this time. It is lit together with the light Transmission. 8

9 Picture 2 composition of LED lights 3.7 Manual and automatic control of relay outputs Device can be controlled manually with three-position toggle switch on the top side for each relay output. Relay is controlled with these states: 1. MANUALLY Manual switching on the relay output. Remote control via RS 485 cannot influence the state. Relay is manually switched ON. 2. OFF Manual switching off the relay output. Remote control via RS 485 cannot influence the state. Relay is manually switched OFF. 3. AUTOMATICALLY Mode of automatic control of relay output via communication RS 485. Relay is in position OFF/ON on the basis of remote commands. 9

11 4 INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE 4.1 Generally Device should be used for controlling eight relay outputs via protocol BACnet. 12 4.4 Description of objects - RU8BAC_ID (Device) describes the device - Watchdog_Timer (AI-1) is object which is used for checking the device running. Every second it is changed value present-value from zero to hundred. - MSTP_MAC_Address (AI-2) displays value MSTP-MAC address set with switch DIP. - OFFSET_DEV_ID (AV-1) is object which you can change ID device with. Final ID is sum of OFFSET_DEV_ID + MSTP-MAC. It contains a priority field array, where the highest priority decides, the priority does not contain value NULL. Values of all priorities are saved into memory (FRAM) and they are revived again after loss of power. Editing of all values is possible only after switching the switch DIP8.8. Detailed description is in paragraph 4.6 Setting of Offset ID. - RELAY_STATE_1..8 (BI-1..8) displays state of each relay. It does not depend, if the relay was switched on manually or with BACnet communication. - RELAY_SET_1..8 (BO-1..8) controls relevant relay switch. Object contains a priority field array, where the highest priority decides, the priority does not contain value NULL. Values of all priorities are saved into memory (FRAM) and they are revived again after loss of power. - SWITCH_STATUS_1..8 (MV1..8) displays state of manual switch panel. According to position of switch it can have values MANU_OFF, MANU_ON or AUTO. - COV_MODE (MV-10) is used to set the transmission of unrequested messages when changing the position of manual switch or relay. These messages are broadcasted witch broadcast into local or global net. * It is not functional for the time being. 4.5 Setting of factory values For the device RU8-BAC it is possible to return to factory setting. In this intervention, however, it is permanently deleted user setting. Factory setting can be returned with following procedure. Brief description is in the picture By DIP switch for setting the address it is switched the switch number 8 to the position ON. 2. Until 40s from switching the indicator LED start to flash slowly (1s lights, 1s does not light). 3. Switch switches then for programming into position ON. 4. Indicator LED flashes 10x (0,5s lights, 0,5s does not light) and then it goes out. 5. The factory settings revive and user setting is deleted!!! 6. Return the switch number 8 and switch programming into position OFF. Be careful, when the switch programming is not returned back into position OFF, the device would not work after disconnecting and reconnecting of supply voltage. It would be in programming mode. 12

13 Picture 3 return to factory setting 4.6 Setting of Offset ID Each device is identified in network BACnet according to unique number Device ID. In the device RU8BAC this number is the sum of MSTP-MAC address and values saved in object AV1 with name OFFSET_DEV_ID. Object AV1 contains Priority_Array, so valid is value with the lowest number of priority which is not set on value NULL. Device ID = OFFSET_DEV_ID + MSTP-MAC Example: Device ID = Device ID = 1026 Picture 4 Setting of Device ID Entering values into object AV1 is protected against accidental overwriting. To change the value, it must be switched the switch DIP 8.8 into position one. Then it is necessary to wait until the device goes into edit mode when LED Indication flashes slowly (1s lights / 1s does not light). Switching to this mode can take up to 40s from switching DIP switch. After change of setting return switch DIP8.8 into origin switched off position! 13

15 Setting of speed on the line RS485 The device enables to change speed of communication on the line RS485. To the change of speed two DIP switches are used.
