2 IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS About operating votage Operate the unit with the appropriate votage as indicated on the outer packaging and where power cord comes out of the AC adapter. It wi be one of the foowing: Hz About safety The namepate indicating operating votage, power consumption, etc is ocated on the AC adapter. Unpug the unit from the wa outet when it is not to be used for an extended period of time. To disconnect the cord, pu it out by grasping the pug, never pu it out by the cord. Shoud any soid object or iquid fa into the unit, disconnect the AC power cord, and have quaified service professiona check the unit before operating the unit again. About instaation Do not pace the unit near heat sources, moisture, rain or mechanica shock, and ensure that there is nothing to interfere with proper ventiation/airfow. Foowing are some tips you may want to consider: Front Sateite Speakers The best ocation for the front sateite speaker pacement is to the side of the video source. The sateite speakers can be wa-mounted with the optiona MidiLand MK-01 wa mount kit, optiona foor stand, or pace it on a bookshef. The sateite speakers shoud be spaced 1 to 4 ft. away from the video source to create the best sound image. Rear Sateite Speakers The best ocation for the rear speakers is to the side and either parae or sighty behind the istener. The speakers can be wa-mounted with the optiona MidiLand MK-01 or optiona foor stand with the speaker facing the istener. The rear sateite speaker may be paced 5 to 9 ft. above the ground. Center Channe Speaker The center channe sateite shoud be paced on top and cose to the front edge of the video source. Subwoofer The eve of bass response output from the subwoofer may vary when paced at different positions in the room. By pacing the subwoofer at a corner of two was, it wi resut the most bass output, whie pacing it near ony one wa wi decrease its performance. Since bass sound is omnidirectiona, the subwoofer can be paced in a out of sight corner. 3

Carefuy remove the S v2.0 components from their packaging. Pace the subwoofer on a fat, stabe surface, preferaby on the foor and apart from the wa, aowing a space at east 3 inches from the back and the sides of the unit. Connect the dua RCA to RCA cabe from the back of the ADS 4000 s RCA connector to the corresponding RCA connector on the back of the subwoofer. Pease refer to iustration 1-1. Using the suppied speaker cabe to connect the eft, right, surround eft, surround right and center sateite speaker to the subwoofer s ampifer output. Make sure the postive and the negative speaker wires are pugged into the appropriate termina. Pease refer to iustration I-1. The ADS 4000 may be connected to a sound source using three different types of input. Pease refer to iustration I-2 to I-4. Aso, check with your sound source manua for connection avaiabiity. Pug in the power cabe to the ADS 4000 (power input) and to the 12V DC socket on the back of the subwoofer. For the subwoofer, pug in the power cabe into the unit and the wa outet. Press the Power button on the ADS 4000 (ocated on the front pane or the remote contro) and the Subwoofer (ocated on the back pane of the subwoofer). Adjust the Subwoofer s main voume with the voume contro knobs ocated on the back pane. A other contros and function are seectabe on the ADS Pease refer to ADS 4000 s manua for deatais.) a. Be sure not to tange the power cord with the sound source cabes, to prevent the sound signa from being interfered by the eectrica current. b. Be sure to turn the voume contro countercockwise before paying from audio source; increase the voume graduay after paying has started. 4

6 Iustration I-2 ANALOG INPUT MD/CD Payer Computer Sound Card By using the Front Anaog Input on the S4 MidiLand 8200 v2.0, users may use this system with a wide variety of sound sources. Some sound sources may require different anaog cabes other than the cabes suppied with this system. Pease refer to your sound source manua for the correct type of cabe(s) needed, which can be purchased at your oca eectronic/audio stores. Under the Front Anaog Input connection, the front speakers and the subwoofer wi be the defaut speakers to produce sound. Users, however, wi have the option to manipuate the surround effect by means of using the ADS 4000 decoder. 6

7 Iustration I-2 ANALOG 4.INPUT Muti-Channe Computer Sound Card By using the Front and Rear Anaog Inputs on the S4 MidiLand 8200 v2.0, users may use this system with a muti-channe sound card to expericence 4.1 channe surround sound effect in games as we as in music. Using this setup, ony the front, rear and subwoofer wi be the defaut speakers to produce sound. Center channe speaker wi remain ide. Pease refer to your sound card s manua for the correct output jack ocation. 7

8 Iustration I-3 COAXIAL INPUT DVD Payer LD Payer Computer Sound Card Using the Coaxia Input setup on the S4 MidiLand 8200 v2.0, users may use this system with a wide variety of sound sources which is equipped with coaxia (RCA) connector for sound output. Up to two different types of sound sources equipped with coaxia output may be connected to the ADS 4000 through the use of Coaxia 1 and Coaxia 2 connector simutaneousy. User may seect to use either Coaxia 1 or Coaxia 2 by pressing the input button on the remote contro. 8

9 Iustration I-4 OPTICAL INPUT DVD Payer LD Payer Game Consoe MD/CD Payer Computer Sound Card Using the Optica Input on the S4 MidiLand 8200 v2.0, users may use this system with wide variety of sound sources equipped with an optica connector for sound output. The Optica Input aong with Coaxia 1 and Coaxia 2 can be connector simutaneousy. User may seect to use either the Optica Input, Coaxia 1 or Coaxia 2 by pressing the input button on the remote contro. 9

10 TROUBLESHOOTING PROBLEM POSSIBLE SOLUTION No sound output Pease check and make sure if the correct input mode on the ADS 4000 has been seected to match the output on the sound source. Check and make sure the system s wire connections are secured and that you have connected the input into the correct output on the sound source. Make sure the ADS 4000 unit is not muted. Make sure the sound card is not muted (pease refer to the sound card s manua). Make sure your sound source is fuy functioning. Constant buzzing/static sound and no music Pace the input cabe away from any power cabes. If the probem persists, pease contact MidiLand tech support for assistance. ADS 4000 is not functioning propery Remote contro is not functioning Turn off the system and unpug the AC adapter from the unit and the power outet. Wait for one minute before repugging the adapter so the unit can reset. Change the battery on the remote contro. Make sure the ADS 4000 unit is functioning propery.
