As specialty items, our products require careful handling and maintenance. First, always be gentle when handling your lace wigs as are they are delicate and can rip. It is also important to use wide tooth combs and brushes that have rubber tips at the end of each brush bristle or tooth of the comb. This will prevent the fibers from splitting, and keep the wig from looking fuzzy and dull before its time. Denman D4 brushes are also highly recommended: You have to take care of your unit's hair with the same care that you would to healthfully maintain your own hair. This means that you should not reprocess the hair using harsh chemicals and should take concerted steps to minimize tangling, dry hair & breakage, split ends, etc. Yes, even wigs do get split ends! You should expect a small measure of tangling as all hair gets a little messy and needs grooming. Make sure to carefully comb through the hair but do not comb excessively or tug the hair because this will compromise your lace front wig by increasing shedding of the hair. As great as these extensions look and feel, they are products to be maintained and will not last forever. However, they are constructed to last a long time with proper care and handling. To help deter tangling, braid hair at night, keep moisturized and we also recommended for you to tie hair at night with a silk scarf, especially around the hairline. Below you will find: 1. 2 WIG ESSENTIALS The following list is a good overview of the products you should have on hand to make applying and removing your lace wig as easy as possible. You will find that you already own many of these items. Use sparingly and follow with a light coating of hair spray to eliminate tackiness. 7. 3 APPLYING YOUR LACE WIG Hair extension & hair replacement products contain ingredients that may cause skin irritations or allergic reactions. Do not use if you have had a previous reaction or if skin is sensitive, irritated or injured. Perform the skin allergy test 48 hours before use and only use as directed according to manufacturer labeling and instructions. Getting Started Step 1. Gather your application products for easy access and prepare your own hair by either braiding into small cornrows or wrapping your hair tightly. The main objective is to get your hair as flat as possible. Step 4. Step 5. Step 6. Pin and clip all hairs (especially baby hairs) away from the edges of the wig's perimeter. Apply a small amount of knot sealer to lace as directed on package and allow it to dry (optional). Carefully cut extra lace around the perimeter of the wig up to where the hair is knotted, being careful not to cut into baby hairs. Position wig on your head leaving enough room at your hairline to prep your skin. OPTIONAL: use a stocking or wig cap in a color that closely matches your skin tone. These caps help create the illusion of a scalp and minimize the grid pattern of the lace. Apply alcohol with a cotton ball or paper towel to clean skin around the edges of your natural hairline. You want to remove all excess oils from your skin. Apply scalp protector to skin in cleaned areas. 3

4 Liquid Adhesive Application Step 1. Using an application brush or a wooden applicator stick, apply adhesive just beyond your hairline as instructed by the adhesive manufacturer. Once the glue is ready (this will depend on the glue type), press the lace down to your skin with the end of a tail comb. NOTE: It is acceptable to apply the wig on your natural hairline or behind your natural hairline, though these options will require you to carefully remove glue from your hair & skin. This decision will depend on you using an appropriate adhesive and on what looks most natural for your profile. Repeat procedures around the perimeter of your head in small sections. If you need to make any adjustments, use alcohol or lace release on a Q-tip to re-apply the affected areas. Tie edges with a silk scarf until glue has fully cured. Applying With Double-Sided Tape Adhesives Step 1. Step 4. Prepare the lace wig, hair and skin as described above. Cut tape into desired shapes. Peel off the liner on one side and press firmly onto lace around the perimeter of the wig. Position wig on your head. Remove the tape liner in sections and firmly press onto skin with a tail comb. Tie edges with a silk scarf until glue has cured. 4

5 REMOVING YOUR LACE WIG 1. Never pull on your wig to remove from scalp or hair. Keep all products away from your eyes. 2. Spray adhesive remover or apply alcohol (using a pointed applicator bottle) onto the lace where the unit is glued. TIP: Wear a head band on your forehead to catch any liquid that may drip down your face and have a towel handy to wipe your face. 3. Allow time for the adhesive remover to break down the glue making it gooey. The lace should lift off your skin with the slightest tug. If the glue has not become gooey, apply more adhesive remover. 4. Once you have removed the wig, remove glue from skin with adhesive remover. 5. If there is glue residue on the lace, remove with the mirror slide technique. 6. Wash lace unit (see our guide) and maintain your normal hair care regimen. THE MIRROR SLIDE TECHNIQUE This technique is very USEFUL for removing excess adhesive from your lace wig. Press the lace firmly but gently onto the mirror. Slide the lace system downwards in long strokes. You will notice the adhesive transfer onto the mirror. Gently remove residue on hair and lace with a microfiber cloth and/or use an old toothbrush to gently break up remaining residue. For an easy cleanup, we recommend you clean the mirror while the adhesive is still in its gooey and tacky form. 5

6 WASHING YOUR LACE WIG Learning how to properly care for your lace wig will allow you to enjoy the unit for much longer. Avoid washing your lace wig while it s still attached on your head. In order to properly care for your lace unit, you must shampoo and condition it while it is on a mannequin. Supplies required: Step 1. Step 4. Step 5. Step 6. Wide Tooth comb Styrofoam wig Head/ mannequin Knot Sealer or Fray Block Hand Towel Use a wide tooth comb to gently comb hair to free of any tangles. Position your lace wig on the wig head form in a sink or bathtub and saturate the hair with warm water while still on the wig head. Squeeze enough shampoo to saturate the hair from root to tip in your palms and gently massage the hair. Repeat to ensure hair is clean from product and shampoo. Do not rub the hair during the washing process, as that may cause tangling. Also keep the wig on the head form in an upright position to avoid tangling of the unit. Apply a deep conditioner to the wig in the same manner the shampoo was applied and allow it to penetrate for 10 minutes, ensuring all strands are covered. Use cool water to rinse the conditioner. Make sure that all residue has been removed. Once all conditioner has been removed from the hair, gently squeeze the hair to reduce the amount of water. Use a wash cloth or hand towel to gently soak excess water. Allow wig to air dry. When dry, avoid excessive combing. Style as desired with flat iron or curler. Turn the wig inside out and place it on your mannequin so that the lace is exposed. Spray the unit with the Knot Sealer or Fray Block, which prevents excess shedding. Tips: We recommend washing your unit once every two weeks to avoid excess wear on lace and hair. Avoid products with alcohol, which tends to dry the hair 6

7 A FEW TIPS FOR TAKING CARE OF CURLY HAIR Tangling on a curly unit is no reflection of the hair quality, but rather on how you style and take care of your curly hair. In many ways, the maintenance of curly hair differs from that of straight hair care, so we have compiled a few tips to help you with your maintenance schedule. To care for your curly unit, please follow these tips: 1. Start by reviewing our guide on how to wash your unit. Always remember to use a wide tooth comb (no brushes), comb out tangles before washing, do not rub the hair when shampooing, apply curl defining products while the hair is still wet, do not towel dry, and let the hair air dry (please avoid using hair dryers which will make your unit frizzy and damage your lace!). 2. People mistakenly think they have to comb curly hair all the time to tame it, but always remember that curly hair is all about finger combing. You should only really use a comb during your washing and maintenance schedule to undo any tangles. To define curls, wrap sections of hair around your finger. When the hair is dry, you can separate curls with your fingers for a fuller look. 3. Keep hair moisturized with shampoo, conditioners and styling products that are specially designed for curly hair (curly hair products should be absent of moisture stripping agents such as alcohol and should not weigh the hair down). Try not to wash too frequently as it may strip the hair of its moisture and bring about frizziness. 4. Tie your hair at night with a silk scarf. Braid or plait hair in separate sections to avoid any tangling during your sleep.
