Add transitions between slides Slide transitions are the animation-like effects that occur in Slide Show view when you move from one slide to the next during an on-screen presentation. You can control the speed of each slide transition effect, and you can also add sound. Choose from a gallery of slide transitions PowerPoint 2010 includes many different types of slide transitions, including (but not limited to) the following: ) None 6) Split 11) Dissolve 2) Cut 7) Random Bars 12) Checkerboard 3) Fade 8) Shape 13) Blends 4) Push 9) Uncover 14) Clock 5) Wipe 10) Cover To see more transitions effects, in the Quick Styles list, click the More button diagram above., as shown in the Add sound to slide transitions For adding sound with slide transitions, open presentations slide and navigate to Transitions tab, under Timing group, from Sounds options, select a desired sound. It will add sound with applied transitions effect. You can preview your slideshow to view the slide transitions with specified sound effect. Page 3 of 7
Change all of the slide transitions in your presentation 1. On the Animations tab, in the Transition To This Slide Group, click a different slide transition effect To see more transition effects on the Quick Styles list, click the More button. 2. To re-set the slide transition speed, in the Timing group, click the box next to Duration, then you can select the speed that you want. 3. In the Timing group, click Apply to All. Change some of the slide transitions in you presentation 1. In the pane that contains the Outline and Slides tab, click the Slides tab. 2. On the Transitions tab, in the Transition of This Slide group, click a different slide transition effect for that slide. 3. To re-set the slide transition speed, under the Transition tab, in the Timing group, click the arrows next to Duration, and then select the speed that you want. 4. To change another slide transition, repeat steps 2 through 4. Remove all the slide transitions from your presentation 1. In the pane that contains the Outline and Slides tab, click the Slides tab. 2. On the Animations tab, in the Transition To This Slide group, click None. 3. In the Transition To This Slide group, click Apply to All. Remove some of the slide transitions from your presentation 1. In the pane that contains the Outline and Slides, click the Slides tab. 2. On the Animations tab, in the Transition To This Slide group, click None. 4. To remove a slide transition from another slide in your presentation, repeat steps 2 through 4. Animating texts and objects Animate the text or objects in your presentation to give them sound effects or visual effects, including movement. You can use animation to focus on important points, to control the flow of information, and to increase viewer interest in your presentation. You can use the built-in animation effects in PowerPoint 2010, or you can create your own custom effects. You can apply animation effects to individual slides, to the slide master, or to custom slide layouts. Page 4 of 7
Apply a built-in animation effect to text or an object To apply a built-in animation effect in PowerPoint 2010, do the following: 1. Select the text or object that you want to animate. 2. On the Animations tab, in the Animations group, select the animation effect that you want from the Animation list. To see more animation effects, click the More button. Create and apply a custom animation effect to text or objects To gain more control over how and when effects are applied, you can create and apply a custom animation. For example, you can make text grow or shrink, spin or shimmer, and you can set an animation so that you hear the sound of applause when a picture is revealed. You can apply more than one animation, so you can make a line of text fly in with or without sound, and then make the text fly out. You can use emphasis, entrance, or exit options in addition to preset or custom motion paths. To apply a custom animation effect in PowerPoint 2010, do the following: 1. Select the object you wish to animate and then click the More button in the Animation group of the Animation tab. Animations are grouped into four categories. Entrance effects, Exit effects, Emphasis effects, and Motion Paths. You can get a Live Preview of how the animation will look by hovering your mouse over an animation effect. When you select a Motion Path, your object will move along the dashed path line as shown on the screen. (This path is not displayed in the final output) Certain aspects of the Motion Path effects are editable. When you apply a Motion Path animation to an object, you can select the path and drag the end to change the length or size of the path. The green marker along the motion path marks the beginning of the path and the red marks the end. You can display additional effects by choosing one of the options at the bottom. Page 5 of 7
This will pop up a Change Effect window. If you have Preview Effect checked at the lower left you can preview the effects by single clicking. Test your animation effect After you add one or more animation effects, to validate that they work, do the following: At the top of the Custom Animation task pane, click Play. Timing animation effects You can change when your animation starts to play. By default it is On Click. To change it, select the effect in the Animation Pane and then choose one of the options from the Start dropdown list. With Previous starts at the same time as the previous animation and After Previous starts after the last animation. You can also edit the duration that the animations plays and also set a delay. Under the Animations tab, in the Timing group, click the arrows and choose how long you want it to delay. You can change the order in which the animation effects are applied by selecting the effect in the animation pane and clicking Move Earlier or Move Later from the Timing group on the Animation tab. Effect options for animating objects If the Effect Options button is available when your animation is selected, that that particular animation has some additional effect setting that can be configured. You can access the Effect Option by rightclicking on the Animation Pane, or by selecting Effect Options on the ribbon. Page 6 of 7
The available options will vary by effect and not all animation effects will have Effect Options settings. In the example below, you can change the amount of spinning and whether the object will spin clockwise and counterclockwise. Under enhancements, you can add sound effects to your animation. When you re finished click OK Change or remove sound applied to an animation effect 1. On the Animation tab, in the Animations group, click on the Show Additional Effect Options button. 2. Click the text or object that contains the sound that you want to change or delete. 3. On the Effect tab, click the arrow next to Sound, and then do one of the following: To change the sound, click a new sound effect. To remove a sound effect, click [No Sound]. Remove one or more animation effects from your presentation 1. On the Animation tab, in the Advanced Animations group, click Animation Pane. 2. In the slide window, click the text or object with one or more animation effects applied to it that you want to remove. 3. In the Animation Pane list, click an animation effect, and then you can either press delete or None in the Animation group. To select more than one animation effect applied to a single instance of text or an object, press and hold CTRL while you click each animation effect that you want to remove. Page 7 of 7
