9 RNP-AR approach to 01R From new runway to daily operations 2004: Procedure initially designed as part of LFV s effort to reduce noise exposure for the village of Upplands-Väsby 2005: 5 trials took place with SAS 737NG November 2007: (RNP AR) Procedure Design Manual (Doc 9905) 2008: Current procedure created in cooperation with LFV, SAS and Stockholm Arlanda Airport. Aug 27, 2009: Current procedure published in Sweden s AIP. 9

20 Finally RNP-AR can be used to optimize the trade off between emissions and noise RNP-AR requires a high commitment and tight cooperation between airports, airlines, industry and ANSPs Sweden is on the forefront of development and use of RNP-AR procedures LFV is extensively involved in the SESAR programme where further development of PBN operations will take place. Stockholm Arlanda Airport is producing an action plan which details the development and use of curved approaches and RNP-AR technology. This is a living document which will serve as a basis for communication between the airport and the authorities. It will continue to be updated and maintained. 20
