2 FROM OUR LEADERSHIP Faith Family, In the closing remarks of a message he preached just prior to being affirmed as our Senior Pastor, Matt Mason shared the following Brook Hills, this is my prayer for us. Worship. Nurture. Mission. That we would be a people who delight in worshiping our God; not just Marthas running around working all the time, but coming together to be built up in faith as we praise God. That we would be a people who delight in being together, strengthening one another, praying for one another, and learning how to live out the gospel as a community of believers. And that this gospel friendship would send us forward to shine as lights in the world, to proclaim good news, and to live lives that are beautiful marked by holiness, love and infectious joy. It s affirming to know that as we stand at the brink of an exciting new era in the life of our church, the heartbeat and vision of Brook Hills remains solid and unchanged. God has been faithful to raise up a Senior Pastor who is committed to shepherding us to glorify God by making disciples of all nations. It is our privilege to recommend a ministry budget for the coming year that reflects that same heartbeat. Here are a few important questions for us to consider Is the church in a healthy place financially? Yes. Through the Lord s gracious provision, we anticipate closing another year in a healthy financial position and ending favorable to our 2015 budget. Our income for 2015 is estimated to exceed $9 million, while our expenses will be closer to $8.6 million. A combination of generous giving and wise stewardship has enabled us to live within our means for several consecutive years now. How will the money be spent? Even though our budget is organized across several ministry areas, there are five main buckets into which our budget monies can be categorized: Missions (20.2%), Church Ministries (5.1%), Operations (12.6%), Debt (8.8%) and Personnel (53.2%). What amount will need to be received each week? The proposed 2016 budget has two main parts a general ministry budget of $9,110,000 and a capital needs budget of $236,000. Funding for the general ministry budget will come from our weekly giving and the amount needed will be $175,192 per week (an increase of $2,615 over the current year). The capital needs budget, on the other hand, will be funded by undesignated cash reserves. What is my role? Every member of Brook Hills is asked to prayerfully consider the proposed 2016 budget, not only for congregational approval, but also as to how the Lord would have you participate in resourcing it. A special address, budgetqa@brookhills.org, has been set up as an avenue for members to submit questions and comments related to the budget. The Stewardship Ministry Team and selected staff will receive and respond to these on an individual basis. A vote of affirmation will be taken on Sunday, December 6, at the beginning of each Worship Gathering.
