1 Non-GIL SmartBadge Connection The non-gil SmartBadge Connection Software (SBCS) and SmartBadge reader is necessary for your Windows PC to be able to read your SmartBadge. This document provides you with the software to download and the process for ordering a SmartBadge reader if you need one. Installation instructions for non-gil SmartBadge connection software Order a SmartBadge reader (sold separately) Download Connection Software Download Current Version: SBCS_V1.1.EXE Release Notes Version#: 1.1 Note: The term non-gil SmartBadge Connection Kit (SBCK) was previously used to reference the connection software and SmartBadge reader. These components are no longer offered as part of a kit for SmartBadge 2 and must be obtained separately. The acronyms SBCK and SBCS might be used interchangeably by support personnel or product documentation as naming conventions were changed from kit to software after the initial SmartBadge product release. SBCS Installation Instructions Requirements Installation of the SmartBadge connection software requires: SmartBadge 2 (SB2) and SB2 compatible card reader Or SPOT2 USB token The non-gil SmartBadge connection software is for use on the following operating systems (32-bit and 64-bit systems): Date of Release: June 23, 2010 Updated registry settings to include latest card ATR revisions necessary to recognize new card stock received from manufacturer. Version#: 1.0 Date of Release: February 2, 2010 SmartBadge 2 drivers and SmartBadge reader installation package for Windows XP (32 and 64 bit), Vista (32 and 64 bit) and Win 7. Package checks for and installs necessary SmartBadge reader drivers. Package installs Microsoft Base CSP and card drivers. Package installs Chevron root certificate. Package configures necessary SmartCard services and settings. Microsoft Windows XP Microsoft Windows Vista Microsoft Windows 7 Microsoft Windows 10 Support for SBCK Note: Administrator rights on your machine are required to complete the installation. You still will need to install and follow any respective remote access product instructions or settings after you finish your non-gil SBCS install (example: NetGIL users will need to install the latest Citrix software).

2 Page 2 Keep Informed of Changes and Product Updates The non-gil SmartBadge Connection Subscription GILServ offering is available to keep you informed of product changes and new releases. Please subscribe to this free service once you have connected to the Chevron network. Begin the Installation Click the link in the upper right column to install the non-gil SmartBadge connection software package for SmartBadge 2 (SB2) on a Microsoft Windows based system. After downloading the package, please follow the on-screen instructions to install the software. When the installation finishes, your PC will be able to read your SmartBadge. You still will need to install or follow any respective remote access product instructions or settings. How to Determine the Version of Your Installed Non-GIL Connection Software To determine which version of the non-gil SmartBadge connection software is installed on your Windows PC, please complete the following actions: 1. From the Start Menu, select the "Control Panel." 2. Select one of the following based on your OS: Windows XP: Select Add/Remove Programs and scroll to the SBCK application listing (example - "SBCK_SB2_V..."). The version will be listed in the application name, denoted by a proceeding "V." Windows VISTA & Windows 7: Select Programs and Features and scroll to the SBCK application listing (example - "SBCK_SB2_V..."). The version will be listed in the application name, denoted by a proceeding "V." Note: SBCK or SBCS acronym used in the application listing and name may be different depending on which version you have installed. Naming conventions were changed from kit to software after the original product release.

3 Page 3 How to Determine If Your SmartBadge Reader Works with SB2 Legacy Non-GIL SmartBadge Connection Kit Readers Readers shipped with the Legacy non-gil SmartBadge Connection Kit (SmartBadge 1 SBCK) are compatible with SmartBadge 2. However, there may be cases where you have an outdated reader and you will need to order a replacement reader. If your SmartBadge Reader looks identical to the pictures below, you have a version 1 reader and need a replacement. Version 2 readers and above are compatible with SmartBadge 2. Version 1 SmartBadge readers must be replaced to support SmartBadge 2. The instructions below describe how to identify a version 1 reader and how to order a new reader if necessary. SmartBadge Version 1: External USB Reader External USB version 1 readers have a blue Schlumberger logo on the top and the words Reflex USB on the back. Figure 1: External USB SmartBadge Rea

4 Page 4 SmartBadge Version 1: Laptop PCMCIA Reader Most laptops now come with embedded readers. Removable laptop version 1 readers, although not offered as part of the SBCK, have the words Reflex 20 on the top and back. Version 1 PCMCIA readers typically are found in T22, T23, X22, and X23 laptops. T60 series laptops have the newer built-in readers which are compatible with SB2. Figure 2: PCMCIA Version 1 SmartBadge Reader How to Order a SmartBadge Reader Readers shipped with the Legacy non-gil SmartBadge Connection Kit (SmartBadge 1 SBCK) are compatible with SmartBadge 2. However, there may be cases where you have an outdated reader and you will need to order a replacement reader (see How to Determine If Your SmartBadge Reader Works with SB2 above). 5 Page 5 All Sites Chevron SmartBadge Compatible Readers Chevron supports only specific models of card readers; please ensure you order one of the following models: External USB Readers (for use on desktops and laptops) Schlumberger REFLEX SECURITY USB CARD READER V3 (SCR3310) Internal Readers (for use on laptops only) Schlumberger REFLEX SECURITY PCMCIA CARD READER V3 (SCR243) Schlumberger EXPRESSCARD SECURE CARD READER (SCR3340) Installing SPOT2 USB Token SPOT2 USB token is a separate product offering that is available to be subscribe to from GILServ. SPOT2 is a preactivated USB token with an embedded SmartBadge chip. This device provides emergency PC logon capabilities to an employee with Single-Person Office and Traveler (SPOT) classification when the primary SmartBadge fails or is not available when the user is away from a Chevron office. Note: This material is only necessary for Windows XP users that require SPOT2 (to be completed after the SBCS installation). XP only - Install token hardware driver for token user Windows Vista or later OS recognizes token without having to update drivers 1. Insert the token into an available USB port. The Hardware Wizard may appear, click Yes, this time only and click Next. Figure 3: Installation Wizard initiation window

6 Page 6 2. Click Install the software automatically (Recommended) and click Next. Figure 4: Software installation selection 3. Please allow the computer to download the software required and click Finish to complete the Hardware Wizard. Figure 5: File download and installation completion

7 Page 7 Installation for Windows 10 Support for SBCK Installed as normal on Windows 10 Default Web Browser on Windows 10 is the new Edge Browser. Found that the Edge browser fails when trying to prompt for Smartbadge credentials. Tested Internet Explorer 11 and all worked as expected. Steps taken were: Open internet explorer (start button, all programs, windows accessories, internet explorer)

8 Page 8 Typed into address bar and hit enter. Selected Location, ensured Smartbadge is selected, and clicked go. Was prompted for credentials, entered credentials and authenticated as expected. Installed Citrix Online Plug in for windows Selected NetGIL desktop to test Citrix XenApp Plugin

9 Page 9 All worked as expected on Windows 10 and Internet Explorer 11. NOTE: If you try connecting thru the Edge Browser and it fails, you cannot use the option in the Edge Browser to open in the Internet Explorer Browser as it will still receive the error. You will need to close both browsers and open only the Internet Explorer Browser and navigate to
