9 The center of Sorrento what is there to do around the hotel Sorrento and its wonderful Peninsula is ideal for those wishing to visit a city full of art in the midst of beautiful scenery of sea and mountains. From the Grand Flora Hotel, you will arrive in in Piazza Tasso within a five minute walk, where you can see the monument Tasso and the statue of Sant Antonino Abbate, the Church del Carmine and the facade of the House in Veniero of a Sicilian-Norman style and the Palazzo Correale. We then continue to the main street of Sorrento, where you can see the Duomo with its Romanesque facade. Here you can see the paintings of Horace and Nicola Malinconico Giacomo Del Po and Silvestro Buono. Below the seat Dominova, loggia of the fifteenth century, with a dome and majolica tiles of the 600. The old town still shows the layout of Roman origin and is surrounded by sixteenth century walls. Sorrento was Episcopalian, and in the sixteenth and seventeenth century was a victim of the assaults of the Saracens of which traces are still present and found in the towers of the coast. The most interesting monuments to visit in Sorrento are certainly the Cathedral, built in the fifteenth century and the church of St.Francis of Assisi with the cloister. At the Correale Museum are exhibited collections of Greek and Roman artefacts and Capodimonte porcelain. Is also worth visiting the museum shop of Tarsia-Lignea where you can admire the best pieces of inlay Sorrento, one of the typical craft of Sorrento.
