5 PROGRAM ACCREDITATION The Hough DBA is accredited by AACSB International (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business), the world s leading nonprofit organization of educational institutions, businesses and other entities devoted to the advancement of management education. FACILITIES An executive program like the DBA requires an executive setting. That atmosphere is found at the University of Florida. DBA delegates will take classes in Heavener Hall, the College s newest state-of-the-art building. Heavener Hall is equipped with modern classrooms, breakout rooms and spacious lounges for relaxing and networking with fellow participants. DBA students will also have access to Hough Hall, the College s home for graduate studies. Hough Hall is a 70,000-square-foot facility with similar amenities to Heavener Hall, but also includes a Capital Markets Lab where students can utilize Bloomberg Terminals, Thompson Datastream, Reuters and a wide spectrum of real business applications.

6 PROGRAM STRUCTURE NETWORK Your three-year investment in the Hough DBA places you in one of the most powerful and enthusiastic business networks in the country. Your collaboration with our faculty will create a meaningful bond, allowing you to reach out to these experienced thought leaders for guidance. The relationships you build through this program last a lifetime The Hough DBA consists of 60 credit hours and takes approximately three years to complete. The program is a professional, non-resident program with limited visits to campus allowing participants maximum flexibility to complete their studies. The program consists of the following components: MANAGERIAL ECONOMICS AND STATISTICS REVIEW Participants will complete the courses Managerial Economics (3 units) and Managerial Statistics (3 units) during a six-day review session before the first term of their program begins. Participants will also attend a two-day orientation before beginning these courses. TERMS (6) Participants take 6 credit hours in each term for a total of 36 credit hours. Courses in terms 1-6 have both an online and oncampus component. DISSERTATION Terms 7, 8 and 9 are devoted to the dissertation, which accounts for 18 credit hours. The dissertation will be supervised by a committee consisting of at least two graduate faculty members. At least one member must be from the Warrington College of Business. Candidates will WARRINGTON ALUMNI Form their doctoral committees no later than the end of their fourth term Present their dissertation proposals no later than the end of their seventh term Complete the dissertation and sit for the final oral defense no later than the end of their ninth term

7 COURSES CHANGE LEADERSHIP: Focuses on individual and organizational factors that lead to successful initiation and institutionalization of both large and small change initiatives. Topics include process models of change as well as obstacles and barriers to change. ORGANIZATIONAL RESEARCH METHODS: Prepares candidates to design and conduct research in the organizational and behavioral sciences. Course will explore: (a) the logic of research design, (b) different types of research methodologies, and (c) issues that researchers encounter when using these methodologies. CORPORATE FINANCE: Course begins with the conditions under which financing and payout policy decisions do not matter the Classic Miller & Modigliani world. The course then is organized around market imperfections that make financial decisions important. INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS: Both in and out of class discussions and assignments will provide students with the knowledge and skills they will need to critically evaluate scholarly research in international business and finance, and make original research contributions to the corresponding academic and professional areas. SUPPLY CHAIN STRATEGY: Utilizing a strategic supply chain point of view, emphasis will be placed on supply chain structure, information flows, supplier selection, and environmental supply chain issues. Contemporary research directions will also be identified and investigated. ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOR: Focuses on the knowledge encountered in the workplace and how is it used in activities such as forming impressions of others, explaining individuals behavior, and forming managerial decisions. QUANTITATIVE RESEARCH METHODS: Introduces multivariate data analysis and mathematical models in marketing theory often called marketing science. MARKETING STRATEGY: Examines key topics of marketing strategy by reviewing the extant literature. Students will be encouraged to challenge assumptions, frameworks, and findings in this research. ENTREPRENEURSHIP: What is the nature of entrepreneurial behavior? How can we better understand such behavior at the individual, organizational and societal levels? This course will explore these and related questions from both a theoretical and managerial/applied perspective. ACCOUNTING RESEARCH & ANALYSIS: Through reviewing scholarly accounting research, this course addresses the use of accounting information by investors and other stakeholders, the role of accounting in capital markets, the use of accounting information in budgeting, compensation, and governance, and tax compliance and tax policy among other topics. STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT: Cultivates strategy scholars who can synthesize and translate theoretical and empirical research in an authoritative evidential manner that makes these findings accessible for academic readers as well as existing and future thought leaders. The course content focuses on value creation, value appropriation, and value innovation. CURRICULUM Although the curriculum of the Hough DBA spans numerous business disciplines, it still allows each of our students a customized learning experience. The core classes taken in the program s first two years provide DBA students with a fundamental understanding of a diverse set of disciplines including Accounting, Economics, Entrepreneurship, Finance, Marketing and Supply Chain Management. Students can tailor the last year of the program, notably their dissertation, to the field that interests them the most. 8 COSTS Tuition for the Hough DBA includes all course materials and a laptop bag. A nonrefundable deposit is also required. REFUND POLICY: Deposit is nonrefundable. Refunds for any tuition and fees are subject to the timeframe of the program and based upon when a participant withdraws in writing. The Office for Student Financial Affairs is responsible for determining eligibility and the processing of any financial aid offered to University of Florida students. Additionally, two dedicated financial aid coordinators reside within the Hough Graduate School of Business to assist prospective and current DBA students. ADMISSIONS CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS The Hough DBA strives for a small, select group of experienced executives in senior leadership positions. 9 FLEXIBLE FORMAT YEAR 1 Term 1 1 DESIGNED FOR WORKING EXECUTIVES A cornerstone of the Hough DBA is its flexible format. Our program requires limited visits to campus allowing participants maximum flexibility to manage their studies, careers and personal lives. Over the course of the three-year program, participants will need to make only one or two trips to campus per term: Fall = 2 required visits plus Orientation, Managerial Economics, and Managerial Statistics.
