2 CONSTANCE LAKE FIRST NATION (CLFN), A PROGRESSIVE AND RAPIDLY GROWING COMMUNITY OF 1,470 MEMBERS OF OJIBWAY AND CREE ANCESTRY WITH APPROXIMATELY 820 LIVING ON RESERVE. WE ARE LOCATED ON THE SCENIC SHORES OF CONSTANCE LAKE NEAR HEARST, ONTARIO AND ARE READILY ACCESSIBLE BY WAY OF HIGHWAY 11.
3 STATE OF EMERGENCY IN 2009 CONSTANCE LAKE ALONG WITH THE OTHER 9 MATAWA COMMUNITIES DECLARED A STATE OF EMERGENCY IN REGARDS TO PRESCRIPTION DRUG USE/MISUSE. THIS STATE OF EMERGENCY IS STILL PREVALENT TODAY. IN THE PAST FEW YEARS ADDITIONS SUCH AS INJECTION DRUG USE AND METHAMPHETAMINE HAS BEEN ADDED TO THE STATE OF EMERGENCY IN CONSTANCE LAKE.
4 THE CONSTANCE LAKE FIRST NATION PDA DETOX / TREATMENT PROGRAM IS A UNIQUE, EDUCATIONAL LEARNING AND HOLISTIC APPROACH TO HEALING AND WELLNESS. THROUGH STRENGTHENING THE INDIVIDUAL S IDENTITY AND AWARENESS IS THE MOST EFFECTIVE WAY TO DECREASE PROBLEMS IN THE AREAS OF ADDICTIONS, VIOLENCE, EMPLOYMENT, ACADEMICS AND MENTAL HEALTH. THE DETOX / TREATMENT MODEL IS AN ABORIGINAL HOLISTIC APPROACH TO HEALING AND SELF-WELLNESS, TO ADDRESS THE PHYSICAL, EMOTIONAL, PSYCHOLOGICAL AND SPIRITUAL ASPECTS OF THE PARTICIPANTS. THE CORE ELEMENT OF THIS INTERVENTION IS THE USE OF TRADITIONAL MEDICINES, TRADITIONAL CEREMONIAL, ABORIGINAL THERAPEUTIC AND WESTERN APPROACHES TO HEALING. THE DETOX PROGRAM WAS LOCALLY DEVELOPED BY THE NNADAP PROGRAM AND A LICENSING AGREEMENT WAS MADE WITH WHITE PATH CONSULTING TO DELIVER THE RED PATH TREATMENT PROGRAM. OUR TEAM IS COMPRISED OF HIGHLY EDUCATED, DEDICATED AND COMMITTED INDIVIDUALS WITH VARIOUS BACKGROUNDS TO MEET THE NEEDS AND OUTCOMES OF THE PARTICIPANTS.
