6 Intended se Yor Black & Decker sander has been designed for sanding and polishing wood, metal, plastics and painted srfaces. This tool is intended for consmer se only. Safety instrctions General power tool safety Warning! Read all safety warnings and all instrctions. Keep work area clean and well lit. Clttered or dark areas invite accidents. b. Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, or dst. Ensre the switch is in the off-position before connecting to power sorce and/or battery pack, picking p or carrying the tool. energising power tools that have the switch on invites accidents. d. Power tool se and care a. Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for yor application. The correct power tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was designed. b. Do not se the power tool if the switch does not trn it on and off. Any power tool that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangeros and mst be repaired. c. Disconnect the plg from the power sorce and/or the battery pack from the power tool before making any adjstments, changing accessories, or storing power tools. Ctting a "live" wire may make exposed metal parts of the power tool "live" and cold give the operator an electric shock. Use clamps or another practical way to secre and spport the workpiece to a stable platform. Holding the work by hand or against yor body leaves it nstable and may lead to loss of control. Warning! Contact with or inhalation of dsts arising from sanding applications may endanger the health of the operator and possible bystanders. Wear a dst mask and ensre that persons within or entering the work area are also protected. Thoroghly remove all dst after sanding. Take special care when sanding paint which is possibly lead based or when sanding some woods and metal which may prodce toxic dst: - Do not let children or pregnant women enter the work area. - Do not eat, drink or smoke in the work area. - Dispose of dst particles and any other debris safely. Vibration The declared vibration emission vales stated in the technical data and the declaration of conformity have been measred in accordance with a standard test method provided by EN and may be sed for comparing one tool with another. The declared vibration emission vale may also be sed in a preliminary assessment of exposre. Warning! Electrical safety # This tool is doble inslated; therefore no earth wire is reqired. Always check that the power spply corresponds to the voltage on the rating plate. If the spply cord is damaged, it mst be replaced by the manfactrer or an athorised Black & Decker Service Centre in order to avoid a hazard. Before assembly, make sre that the tool is switched off and nplgged. Detach the two diamond-shaped tips (10) from the sanding sheet (11). Hold the tool with the sanding base facing pwards. Place the sanding sheet (11) onto the sanding base, making sre that the holes in the sheet line p with the holes in the base. The diamond-shaped tip (10) can be reversed and replaced when worn. When the front part of the tip is worn, detach it from the sheet, reverse it and press it onto the sanding base again. When the whole tip is worn, remove it from the sanding way as the sanding sheets. When the sanding base tip (5) or tip holder (4) is worn, it can be reversed or replaced. Spare parts are available from yor Black & Decker dealer. Remove the screw (8). Reverse or replace the worn part. Fit and tighten the screw. Remove the screw (8). 9 Use Warning! Do not cover the ventilation slots when sing the The tool has an adaptor to connect it to a vacm cleaner when sanding wood. To connect the tool to a vacm cleaner, proceed as follows: KA160/KA161B Warning! Make sre that the tool is switched off and nplgged. Fit the dst extraction connector (2) onto the adapter at the back of the tool. Connect the hose of a sitable vacm cleaner to the connector. Use Warning! Let the tool work at its own pace. Do not overload. Warning! Before connecting the tool to the power spply, make sre it is switched off. To switch the tool on, press the part of the on/off switch (1) marked 'I'. To switch the tool off, press the part of the on/off switch (1) marked '0'. Accessories The performance of yor tool depends on the accessory sed.
