1 SHANGRI LA S THIRD ANNUAL Christmas Tree Decorating Contest To provide food and funds for Orange Christian Services which supports needy families in Orange. The general rules for this contest are as follows: 1. Either individuals or groups may decorate Christmas trees. Examples of participants may include youth groups, adult groups, civic organizations, school groups, school classes, church groups, businesses, or families. The event is limited to one entry per person or group. There is no entry fee. The submission of a completed Official Entry Form is required. Incomplete or illegible forms will not be accepted. 2. Christmas decorations should be created using recycled materials wherever possible. This is not required but strongly suggested. Rubber, plastic or store- bought masks are not allowed. Hazardous items are not allowed, including but not limited to tiki torches, gas- powered generators or other flammable objects. 3. Decorations must be designed for outdoor display and constructed to withstand all weather conditions. If fresh produce is used, participants should replace as necessary. 4. Shangri La will provide a 7 live tree and 8 strands of white LED lights along with a stand for the tree. 5. Decorations must hang on the tree, not sit along side the tree or be held up by any means other than the tree itself. 6. When designing your decorations, please remember this is an event for children of all ages. Decorations may be funny, quirky, etc., but must be in good taste. The use of unusual recycled decorations is encouraged but even these items should be in good taste. Shangri La reserves the right to reject or remove any entry that fails to meet these standards or that is otherwise unacceptable or inappropriate, as Shangri La staff may determine in their sole discretion. 7. Each participant should provide a sign no larger than 18 X18 to identify the individual, group, organization or business who decorated the tree. 8. Participants must maintain their respective Christmas tree from the time of installation of the entry through the judging process as described herein, which will cover a period of at least 4 weeks. An individual participant or up to 2 participants per group or organization will be permitted entry to Shangri La without charge during its posted hours of operation for the limited purpose of monitoring that participant s entry to ensure that it remains in good condition. While participants must maintain their entries following submission, they may not make any substantial changes or modifications to their entries after installation.

2 Shangri La staff and/or volunteers may, from time to time, make minor repairs, replacements and/or adjustments on a Christmas Tree entry if the nature of the adjustment is apparent and the scope is limited, as they determine in their discretion; provided, however, participants remain ultimately responsible for ensuring that their respective Christmas Tree remains intact, in presentable condition and in the position/placement as originally installed. Any entry deemed to be in poor condition will be removed by Shangri La staff 9. Shangri La is not responsible for any damage or loss to any decorations at any time before, during or after the Christmas events. 10. Trees will be available for decoration on Saturday, December 1st and Monday, December 3 rd between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Participants must complete an Official Entry Form no later than Monday, November 26th at 5:00 p.m. to receive prior approval for participation and set up. Prior to installation, participants should check in at the Admissions window to receive a location for their Christmas tree. All Christmas trees will be located in the Botanical Gardens at Shangri La. A limited number of carts will be available to carry decorations to the area where the trees will be set up. 11. All Christmas decorations will be entered in the competition process to determine the best entry. Each entry will be judged against all other entries and will be placed depending on the number of votes received. Votes will be cast by members and guests to Shangri La between December 3 rd and December 20th with the winner being announced on December 21 st. All judging is final. 12. Prizes will be awarded for 1 st, 2 nd and 3 rd place Christmas Trees plus a Best of Show award, which may be awarded to any entry, including one that also places in the top 3. At the discretion of Shangri La staff, additional awards may be given for Christmas trees that reflect the mission of Shangri La. 13. Prizes will be announced on December 21st with plaques being sent out after Christmas. 14. Winners, participants and/or images from the contest may be posted on Shangri La s website or otherwise used in publicity or promotional materials concerning the Green Christmas event. 15. Participants agree to display and maintain their Christmas decorations through Saturday, December 22nd. All decorations must be removed from Shangri La on January 3 rd, 4 th or 5th, 2013 between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Participants are responsible for removing their decorations. I acknowledge and agree that I am the owner of the property described herein and/or the designated representative of the person, group or organization with the authority to act as its agent and bind the owners of the property in all matters pertaining to the described entry. I have read, understood and agree that I and any person, group or organization represented by me will abide by all of the rules of Shangri La s Third Annual CHRISTMAS TREE DECORATING (the Event ) as separately outlined and attached. I understand and agree that Shangri La may use photographs, video or film of actual Christmas Tree entries and/or entry information for publicity and promotions of the Event, and I waive all rights to compensation for such images. I agree to indemnify and defend Shangri La, its directors, employees, and agents, as well as the Nelda C. and H.J. Lutcher Stark Foundation, its officers, directors, employees and agents, from and against any and all claims and losses arising from or resulting to any and all persons in connection with the participation of me or my group in the Event and from any and all claims for losses, damages or injuries incurred by any person, group or organization as a result of the participation of me or my group in the Event.
