EU Energy policy priorities To improve the safety of energy supply Improvement of energy efficiency Coherence of energy- and climate policy Establishment of a well-structured internal gas- and electricity market Support the usage of renewable energy Reconsider nuclear supply % targets 20% energy saving; 20% share of renewable energy; 20% GHG emission reduction 14
Methods to decrease energy costs 1. Decrease energy usage LESS 2. Decrease the prices of energy sources CHEAPER Decrease energy usage: Rationalizing the consumption Thermographic examination, Lakcímke, Best Practice (printing industry, Machine Cluster, INNTEK Nonprofit Kft. reactive current measurements) Organization, change of view (Green Office Programme, HKIK Energy Club, Kalkuditor) With renewable energy (moderation or replacement) Geothermal energy Geothermal Cluster Passive House, usage of other renewable (solar, wind, Pneumobil etc.), Naventer Decrease the prices of energy sources Chamber membership (fuel discount) Energy Procurement Association of the Chamber (purchase of natural gas and 15 electricity)
HCCI Energy Club events (presentation of new technologies, innovations, renewable energy, specific examples, possibilities, calls for proposal etc.) Visiting professional fairs and exhibitions (EnergieSpar Messe, Energ-Expo, Renexpo etc.) Consultancy about calls for proposal New menu item at our webpage (Energy Club) INNTEK Nonprofit Kft. (Innovation and Technology Centre) Participation in national and international projects (e.g. EEEI) Geothermal Cluster, Solar Energy Cluster Demo house, Green Office, thermo camera, etc. Energy Procurement Association of the Chamber (grouped purchase of natural gas and electricity) 16
Topics of Energy Club events until now Geothermal capacities in North-Hungary Usage of geothermal energy in specific architectural examples Possibilities of sustainable energetics Compressed air and its possibilities for usage, its economical production Pneumobil compressed air driven car Passive house energy-conscious building Electricity market possibilities The role of building control in energy savings Personal consultancy with an energetics expert Purchase of natural gas market possibilities Lakcímke information about building-energetics certificate Usage of renewable energy Thermo camera examinations etc. 17

Usage areas of heat cameras Thermography in building engineering: to reveal heat bridges, heat losses Untight heating pipes, humidity Flooding, mouldiness, moisture condensation etc. Industrial equipment: examination of electrical switch-boxes Touch-proof review, default points, Localization of flammable sources, under-sized, damaged cables Bad bandage, overcharge, overheating due to overtones Defaults due to deficient cooling or lubrication etc. Medical, military, other applications % energy savings 29
European Energy Efficiency Improvement - In the graphic media The EEEI project started in January 2007 and aims the target group of SME's in the graphic Media Branch. The project was initiated by Energy Experts International B.V. in Huissen in The Netherlands and is co-financed by the Intelligent Energy Europe Programme of the European Union. The main objective of the EEEI project is to remove barriers for SME's in the European Graphic Media Industry to energy efficiency by making energy use and costs visible and promoting reduction of energy use and costs of SME's. The main project activities are: an inventory and assessment of energy efficiency, barriers for energy efficiency improvement as well as best practice. developing and testing a set of tools for assessment and benchmarking; training of energy experts; consultancy of SME's on energy efficiency and measures on reducing energy consumption. 30
European Energy Efficiency Improvement - In the graphic media Best Practice - Grafotip Nyomdaipari Ltd. (Eger Hungary) Technical Description of Sites Area: m2 Production factor: kg / year Energy consumption Electricity: kwh / year Natural gas: m3 /year Water: 491 m3 /year Energy Consumers: Machines: MJ /year Heating: MJ /year Cooling: MJ /year Lighting: MJ /year 31
European Energy Efficiency Improvement - In the graphic media Best Practice - Grafotip Nyomdaipari Ltd. (Eger Hungary) Reducing of heating costs The most expensive energy used in the company Takes 30% of total energy consumption Replacing of doors and windows with insulated ones Generates gas savings of 33%. Specific savings / reductions (20 Hungarian companies): GJ /year 397,12 ton CO 2 /year EUR/year 32
European Energy Efficiency Improvement - Machine Industry Cluster Electricity procurement Natural gas energy procurement Heating Cooling Lighting Specific savings / reductions (9 industrial companies): EUR/company 33
Energy Procurement Association of the Chamber The HCCI created an energy procurement association in 2009 of which main goal is: to reach that the members of the community can obtain electricity and natural gas in a favourable price. A simple example: An enterprise is getting electricity now for 100 units. With changing the trader and a new contract the enterprise can obtain it for 96 units. In a consumer community it can reach electricity for 92 units. Advantages of the aggregated procurement: Exploiting price advantages from larger quantity ( fleet price ) Proving the portfolio effect (equalization of different consumption habits) Saving significant resources for smaller enterprises Advantages of the centered procurement on the world wide web (know-how, methods) 34
Energy Procurement Association of the Chamber Our results till now - examples: Electricity procurement Savings by 100 consumers and 278 consumption sites: 0,0185 EUR/kWh 22,9% EUR / enterprise ( EUR) Natural gas energy procurement 8 enterprises in Heves County (11 premises) 2009 according to 2010: 0,0413 EUR/m³ 10,35% EUR / enterprise (9 630 EUR) 32 enterprises / institute (92 consumption sites) 2 million m³ competitive quantity: 0,01-0,03 EUR/m³ 9,95% EUR / enterprise ( EUR) 35
Actuality of the energy procurement 1.) Deregulation of the energy market Earlier there was no competition in Hungary, there was only one supplier per region for electricity and natural gas. In the past few years market has been opened and competition has evolved between suppliers. A lot of people are afraid of changing the supplier and do not change them for another one. 2.) The role of the energy procurement had changed It was not a procurement issue earlier The free market opens a new dimension Unfavourable experiences in electricity Costs got into focus, especially energy procurement The role of the procurement and the significance of the methods, technics which support them was appraciated Energy procurement professional The procurement-centered approach is unavoidable 36
Role of the energy procurement professional Expertness Ensure the expertness and know-how which is needed to transact the project with professional background (SMEs don t employ energetic professionals) Information The SMEs are not in continuous contact with the clients of the energy market, they don t know the trends, etc. Supporting processes Coverage, attention call, collection of data, etc. Transaction of the whole procurement process Collecting proposals, tendering, e-auctions Public procurement professional Local authorities, organizations are obligated to public procurement 37

Energy procurement association Why is it good for the enterprise (local government, etc.)? With the help of the chamber it can save the multiples of the chamber dues, either more millions of HUF according to the rate of energy usage Why is it good for the chamber? Through the savings at the enterprises the number of the member companies at the chamber will increase The dues-paying morals will get better The value of the chamber membership, the role of the chamber will increase The chamber gets extra revenues Why is it good for the energy procurement professional? Gain market, revenues (dues) 56
