1 Medium Term Plan Reception, Summer Journeys and Transport Week 1: Introducing Journeys and transport Thurs: boundaries 13/4/15 Send home HFW grid CL / lit Maths UW ( topic) PD EAD PSED Relationships Counting and Topic Lesson: sequences Introduction to topic. Focus: Lost and Found Read the story. Roleplaying of the story. How could we change the characters, talk about the characters personality, who would you take (Justify opinion) Why? Role Play: Props linked to Lost and Found. Phonics: Recap using Phonics Data ff, lll, ss, pp, Starter: Counting Focus: Number order, Reverse order, counting in 10 s, writing numbers in order. What do we know about Journeys and transport? Looking at existing understanding of journeys and transport. What do we already know? What would we like to know? Focus: Draw a picture and label/write sentences of an ideal journey. UW Lesson: Staying safe in a fire. What we should do in a fire? How can we prevent fires. Junk modelling our own toys of vehicles. FS display. EAD Lesson: Lowry Picture replications. Matchstick men.

Tidying the forest. 20/4/15 Fire engines visiting the school Focus: Lost and Found Talking about beginning middle and end, changing endings of the story. Happy, sad endings. Where would you go on the journey. Writing What would you ask the boy or the penguins. Speech Bubbles Role Play: Small world figures linked to lost and found. Phonics: ure, air, ear, Weight Starter: Ordering/ more less. Number order. Focus. Non standard measurement, using scales, ordering heave to lightest. How can we compare the weight of three objects. Topic Lesson Holidays. Holidays How could we go on holiday? Booking a holiday at travel agents, looking through brochures and picking destinations to travel to. How would we get there? Focus: Matching pictures of types of transport to holiday destinations, how would you get there. What would you take on holiday. Thurs: Helping the community. Tidying the forest. Making pirate maps. Using teabags for paper. Link to pirate roleplay. EAD LESSON: Music: Creating our own traveling songs as a class. Singing songs to nursery to judge. Expressing our own needs. Who we go to to talk about what we need and the right way to express our wants and needs. Week 3: Homes around the World Thurs: Habitats Mothers Day Paramedic/police response to visit the school. Talk Focus: Instructions. Key points of instructions. Looking at recipe books, real life instructions. Key point of instructions following number order. Writing instructions. Reading instructions, verbal instructions. Addition, Starter: Number. Focus: Additon. Topics Lesson: Planets- Airports Around Airports What happens at an Airport. Checking in, looking around the shops at an airport. Watching planes take off. Going on a trip. Focus: What would we `Staying safe on Roads posters to display in orchard. EAD Lesson: Drama: Acting out going on a holiday, preparing for a trip. Small roleplay in groups. How we express our feelings without hurting people

O clock times. Topics Lesson Boats. Travelling on the sea. Looking at travelling boats: Leaving the port? Travelling on the water. What would you like about travelling on the boats?
