5 The world of telecommunications is changing rapidly. To cope with the requirements of the modern information oriented society, new technologies and services are to be deployed. ELSINCO's mission is to provide customers with state-of-the-art measurement solutions, helping them to make their communication systems better and more reliable. Access Network Always-on Internet connections coupled with widespread adoption of applications such as IPTV and VoIP are driving the demand for further increased bandwidth in access networks. New services like ADSL2/2+, VDSL, and Triple Play require new measurement procedures in installation and maintenance. ELSINCO offers handheld measurement solutions for access technologies such as ISDN, xdsl, Frame Relay, 2Mbit/s, Triple Play (Phone + Internet + TV), as well as Gigabit Ethernet (GE). Optical Fiber Optical Fiber networks are the core of almost all high-speed telecommunication networks. In order to increase transport capacity of existing fibers substantially, technologies such as Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) and STM-256 are deployed pushing the demand for quality of optical fibers to new limits. Hence, in-depth analysis of the fiber quality becomes significantly more important. ELSINCO supports customers with a strong portfolio of innovative optical fiber measuring instruments, including a full range of Optical Time Domain Reflecto-meters (OTDRs) for high speed transmission as well as for FTTx access networks. High Speed Backbone Networks Due to new services and the resulting increased demand in bandwidth, high speed backbones are subject to big changes as well. Traditional STM-16 (2.5Gbit/s) transmission systems are in many cases no longer enough. Nowadays, technologies like Internet Protocol (IP) utilizing Ethernet Links up to 10Gbit/s are deployed for backbones as well. The traditional borders between switching and transmission gradually merge, resulting in Next Generation Networks (NGN), offering more flexibility and performance. ELSINCO provides a full spectrum of high performance Measuring Instruments & Systems to meet challenging needs for R&D, Production as well as Installation and Maintenance of these high speed Digital Communication Systems supporting Ethernet data rates up to 10Gbit/s, PDH/SDH data rates from 2Mbit/s (E1) up to 40Gbit/s (STM-256) as well as Next Generation SDH (NGN SDH) analysis. 7 Time is flying in mobile communication technologies. What seemed unimaginable a few years ago has become reality in the meantime. From GSM to HSPA (High Speed Packet Access), WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) and DVB (Digital Video Broadcast) it only took a few years. ELSINCO provides customers with the tools that are required to ensure a high level of quality and reliability for current and future technology networks. Wireless Communications While UMTS and HSDPA services are already available from many mobile network providers, new wireless communication systems like WiMAX or DVB are currently in the roll-out phase. ELSINCO supports its customers with a comprehensive range of multi-standard, high performance measuring instruments. Digital Signal Sources and Transmitter Testers for WiMAX, DVB and UMTS are just a few examples of ELSINCO's offerings for wireless communications measurements. Installation and Maintenance of Antenna Sites In most wireless communication systems deployed today, coaxial cables and connectors are playing an important role. The antenna feed cables are often exposed to harsh environmental conditions with ever changing temperatures and humidity, thus stressing the performance of the connections over time. In order to ensure stable network quality, it is therefore vitally important that these connections are verified in regular intervals. ELSINCO offers a complete range of handheld, battery operated instruments, for testing VSWR, Return Loss, and Fault Location, allowing cost effective installation and maintenance of cable and antenna systems up to 20GHz. Satellite Communications, Radar & Navigation Systems Today, many geo-stationary satellites are in orbit, including a number of satellites providing analog & digital TV channel and Radio programs across the world. Several other satellite systems have become indispensable to society, including GPS navigation, or the European Galileo system. ELSINCO offers state-of-the-art Microwave Synthesizers, Spectrum and Network Analyzers for frequencies up to 110GHz (and even higher) that incorporate the latest technologies and support a wide range of applications. EMF and EMI Test Solutions With the ever growing amount of wireless communication standards, EMI (Electro Magnetic Interference) has become a great public concern. Operators are obliged to measure the Field Strength of their Base Stations in order to comply with national and international regulations. ELSINCO offers complete EMF Test Solution, as well as Precision Antennas suitable e.g. for Site VSWR Measurement according to CISPR standard. Discover What s Possible TM Wings for Your Projects 7

9 Substantial technology advancements in recent years have redefined the area of General Purpose Test & Measurement. Today, engineers who design electronic equipment call for more advanced features, in order to cope with the ever increasing complexity. To satisfy all these requirements, the newest generation of General Purpose Instruments offers a comprehensive set of features and an impressive level of performance. Power Supplies ELSINCO offers a most complete range of Power Supplies, from low-cost power sources up to advanced, programmable instruments, featuring high-speed and low noise. Compact, switched mode Power Supplies are offered for a wide range of industrial applications where high current / voltage ratings are often required. Programmable AC Power Supplies can output voltages with varying frequency, ideal for use in manufacturing of electrical devices to deliver exact mains conditions for different exports markets, or for applications that require non-standard power, like in avionics / marine applications. Furthermore, they can be used to simulate any power line distortion in order to test immunity against power line irregularities. Electronic Loads Electronic Loads are required in order to test performance and durability (life cycle) of power transformers, AC/DC power sources, uninterrupted power supplies (UPSs), batteries, etc. ELSINCO offers a wide range of AC & DC Electronic Loads, including specific models that offer operating ranges starting at 0V, as required for the development and production of fuel cells. Safety Testers Manufacturers are obliged to ensure that their equipment is electrically safe, before it can be introduced to the market, no matter if their products are used by consumers or in professional applications. ELSINCO offers a wide range of Electrical Safety Testers, including Withstanding Voltage Testers, Insulation Resistance Testers, Earth Continuity Testers, and Leakage Current Testers, for the verification of electrical / electronic equipment against various safety standards, such as IEC, EN, VDE, BS, UL, CSA, JIS, etc. Video Test Equipment With the latest developments in TV Technology, like High Definition TV (HDTV) and Digital Video Broadcast (DVB) a new generation of Test & Measurement equipment is required, that supports the detailed evaluation of the latest digital features and parameters. ELSINCO offers a full range of Waveform Monitors, DVB/Video Signal Generators and standard AM/FM/RDS Signal Generators, supporting both, analog and digital broadcast technologies. Thus, they can be used to test legacy systems as well as todays front-runner in the development of digital video technologies. Wings for Your Projects 9
