1 1 AVAILABLE PERIMETER COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS DEADLINE: JULY 1, 2016 PERIMETER COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP INSTRUCTIONS Carefully review the available scholarships listed and determine the scholarships in which you meet the eligibility requirements. Please apply only for the scholarships in which you meet all of the criteria. After you have carefully reviewed the eligibility requirements and are ready to apply; complete the scholarship application at Then gather all of the listed required supplemental application materials. Once ALL materials are gathered; submit ALL of your required application materials in one packet by July 1, Only complete and eligible applications will be reviewed by the Scholarship Selection Committee. Please use paper clips rather than staples when putting together your application packet(s). Need a letter of recommendation? Be sure to give those writing you letters of recommendation AT LEAST three weeks to complete your request. Letters of recommendation must also be submitted by the July 1, 2016 deadline, so please plan ahead and request letters of recommendation early. Remember, if you will not be returning to Perimeter College for the Fall 2016 semester you should not apply for these scholarships. SCHOLARSHIP DESCRIPTIONS AND CRITERIA JANET BARRON BOOK SCHOLARSHIP Criteria: New or incoming Perimeter College freshmen (students with fewer than 12 earned or attempted credit hours over the course of their college career). Incoming freshmen must already be admitted to Perimeter College for consideration. Applicants must have demonstrated financial need and plan to complete an Associate s Degree at Perimeter College. One page essay describing why you should receive the Janet Barron Book scholarship Have a 2.00 or higher GPA (high school or Perimeter College) Scholarship Amount: $ for books only. Two scholarships will be awarded. Recipients must be enrolled in at least 9 credit hours for the Fall 2016 semester in order for the scholarship to disburse. IME-BECAS MEXICAN SCHOLARSHIP Criteria: The IME-Becas scholarship provides financial assistance for promising low-income students of Mexican origin. Students of Mexican origin who are receiving Federal Financial Aid are NOT eligible for this scholarship. Applicants must be enrolled in at least 9 credit hours for the Summer 2016 semester or be enrolled in at least 9 credit hours for the Fall 2016 semester. Essay (500 words or less) addressing your need for financial support and how receiving this scholarship will allow you to achieve your educational goals. Please also outline your family resources and your options for staying in school if you are not awarded scholarship support. Have a 2.60 or higher GPA (high school or Perimeter College) Scholarship Amount: Amount may vary but will likely be between $ and $1, for tuition, fees, books and educational expenses. Several scholarships will be awarded. Recipients must be enrolled and complete at least 9 credit hours for the Fall 2016 semester in order for the scholarship to disburse. MR. LEWIS BELCHER, JR. SCHOLARSHIP (re-opened from the March 1, 2016 deadline) Criteria: Current Perimeter College students enrolled in the Leadership Academy Program. The Leadership Academy is a program for African American males enrolled at Perimeter College. If you have never attended a Leadership Academy meeting, you are not eligible for this scholarship. Applicants must have earned at least 9 credit hours at Perimeter College and have demonstrated financial need. Have a 2.00 or higher GPA

3 3 MATTHEW DITTMANN EAGLE SCOUT SCHOLARSHIP Criteria: Incoming Perimeter College freshmen with the rank of Eagle Scout. Copy of Eagle Project Final Report Copy of your recommendation from a Troop Committee Chair or Scoutmaster. required Must be available to interview with the selection committee DUNWOODY ROTARY CLUB SCHOLARSHIP IN ALLIED HEALTH Criteria: Currently enrolled Perimeter College Nursing, Dental Hygiene, or Health Informatics majors. Essay (no more than two pages) outlining your academic and career goals and how receiving this scholarship will help you attain your goals. List of your involvement in community service, clubs and activities NOT required by your educational program (i.e. if your program requires you to volunteer for practical experience, please DO NOT include those activities.) Please only include involvement from the past 12 months. Letter of recommendation from a Perimeter College faculty member. The letter must be signed by the faculty member. Have a 3.00 or higher GPA Scholarship Amount: $1, for tuition, fees, books, and educational expenses. Two scholarships will be awarded. GPC FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP Criteria: New or Incoming Perimeter College freshmen (students who have earned fewer than 12 credit hours over the course of their college career) enrolled in 12 or more credit hours for the Summer and/or Fall 2016 semesters with no more than one Learning Support course. Applicants must have demonstrated financial need as well as previous involvement in community service. Most recent unofficial high school transcript Proof of recent community service. Document must be signed by a non-profit agency official and must be on agency letterhead. Letter of recommendation from a non-related supporter or mentor. The letter must be signed by the recommender. Have a 2.50 or higher GPA from high school Scholarship Amount: $1, for tuition, fees, books and educational expenses. Scholarship will be split between two semesters. PAMELA HECHT MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP (re-opened from the March 1, 2016 deadline) Criteria: Current Perimeter College students who are interested in pursuing a career as a lawyer. Applicants must be 25 years of age or older and must have earned at least 12 credit hours from Perimeter College and be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours at Perimeter College for the Summer 2016 semester. Essay (500 word minimum) describing your academic and career goals and how receiving this scholarship will help you attain your goals. A letter of recommendation from a Perimeter College Faculty member. The letter must be signed by the recommender. JENNINGS SCHOLARSHIP (re-opened from the March 1, 2016 deadline) Criteria: Clarkston Campus honors students who have completed Introduction to American Government (POLS 1101) and World Civilization (HIST 1111 or HIST 1112). KEMP SEEDS OF PROMISE SCHOLARSHIP Criteria: Incoming Perimeter College students, who have been admitted to Perimeter College, are registration ready and are planning to enroll in at least 6 credit hours for the Fall 2016 semester OR current Perimeter College students enrolled in at least 6 credit hours for the Summer 2016 semester. Preference will be given to applicants who reside in South DeKalb County OR are graduates of Carver, South Atlanta, Southside, Therrell or Washington High Schools. KARLA LYNN MOODY SCHOLARSHIP IN NURSING Criteria: African American or Native American female students at Perimeter College who are either enrolled in the Nursing program or have recently been admitted to the nursing program. Applicants must be 30 years of age or older. Nursing Scholarship Application Essay describing why you chose nursing as a career field. Letter of recommendation from a Perimeter College faculty member or employer. The letter must be signed by the recommender and is due on July 1, 2016 along with all other documentation. Have a 2.70 or higher GPA Two scholarships will be awarded: one to an incoming first-year nursing student and one to a second-year nursing student.

5 5 NURSING SCHOLARSHIP FOR SINGLE PARENTS Criteria: Second year nursing students who are single parents and have completed his/her first-year in the Perimeter College Nursing Program. Nursing Scholarship Application One-page essay describing your personal philosophy of nursing: Outline the following: o Your personal practice of nursing. o o Why you chose nursing as a profession. Define how you interact with patients, family members, other nurses and health care professionals to make a difference in the profession. Copy of your most recent tax return (PLEASE BLACK OUT SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBERS). Letter of recommendation from a clinical instructor. The letter must be signed by the recommender and is due on July 1, 2016 along with all other documentation. Have a 2.50 or higher GPA REMINGTON CHANGE FOR GEORGIA MILITARY HERO SCHOLARSHIP Criteria: Full or part time Perimeter College students who are veterans. Students may be incoming or current Perimeter College students. Students must be nominated by math faculty. Nomination letter from a math faculty member STONE MOUNTAIN OPTIMIST CLUB SCHOLARSHIP Criteria: Incoming Perimeter College students who are graduates of Stone Mountain or Redan High Schools. Most recent unofficial high school transcript Essay describing one recent experience in community/volunteer service. Letter of recommendation from a high school counselor, teacher or administrator. The letter must be signed by the recommender. Have a 3.00 or higher GPA from high school Scholarship Amount: $2,250 for tuition, fees, books and educational expenses. Scholarship will be divided over two semesters. Student must be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours for scholarship funds to disburse. T2W2 SCHOLARSHIP Criteria: Current GPC students who have completed 9 credit hours and are enrolled in at least 6 credit hours for the Summer 2016 semester. Applicants must be 20 years or older and ineligible for the HOPE scholarship. Essay (three page maximum) describing your journey to Perimeter College, your academic and career goals, and how receiving this scholarship will help you meet your goals. A letter of recommendation from a Perimeter College faculty or staff member. The letter must be signed by the recommender. Have a 2.50 or higher GPA Scholarship Amount: $1,000 for tuition, fees, books and expenses. Two scholarships will be awarded. JACK AND KATHLEEN THORNTON SCHOLARSHIP Criteria: Incoming freshmen planning to enroll at Perimeter College during the Fall 2016 semester. Applicants should already be admitted to Perimeter College and should be interested in studying writing. Most recent unofficial high school transcript One-page essay describing your interest in writing and why you should receive scholarship support. Have a 3.00 or higher GPA from high school Scholarship Amount: $2, for tuition, fees, and books only. Scholarship will be split $ each semester for up to four semesters. Recipient must maintain a 3.00 or higher GPA to continue receiving scholarship support.
