1 TCC Departmental Scholarships Academic/Honors Programs Distinguished Student Scholarship - Northeast Campus Amount: Approximately 36 $350 scholarships to be applied toward tuition/fees for the following spring term Frequency: Once a year (selected in fall for spring) Minimum 3.0 Cumulative GPA at end of fall term; must be enrolled for at least six hours at Northeast Campus; faculty recommendation; also selection based on participation in extracurricular activities, class participation, personal motivation and attitude, and demonstrated leadership. Application date: Mid-November for following spring term Contact: Northeast Campus Financial Aid Office, division chairperson, or faculty member Outstanding Achievement Award - Northwest Campus Amount: $100 toward tuition and fees Academic achievement; class attendance and participation; campus and/or community involvement; enrolled for at least six hours at Northwest Campus. Selection by faculty. Application date: November Contact: Northwest Campus Financial Aid Office Student Development Excellence Award - South Campus Amount: $150 ; awarded during fall semester Must have completed 12 semester hours with minimum 2.5 GPA at time of application; must be at least three-fourths time in spring at South Campus. Application date: November Contact: Department heads or division chairs on South Campus Accounting/Business/Management/Marketing Global Group fall and spring Frequency: Fall, renewable in spring Must enroll at South Campus as Business, Marketing, or Accounting major. Must be enrolled for at least nine semester hours to receive award. Must have at least 3.0 GPA at TCC.

2 Application date: September 20 Contact: Business and Sciences Division, South Campus Wynn Scholarship (awarded in the spring semester) Must major or be in a program within the business division at South Campus; two letters of recommendation by a teacher, counselor, employer, minister, or activity leader; essay relative to lifetime goals; and must enroll in at least eight credit hours with 2.5 GPA. Application date: February 15 Contact: Business and Sciences Division, South Campus General Nan Dearen Big Brothers/Big Sisters Scholarship Amount: Tuition at TCC. Renewable up to 67 credit hours if student maintains 2.25 GPA and completes and earns 75 percent of prior semester s hours (excluding repeated courses). Frequency: Each semester. Offered over consecutive two-year period a full-time student (12 hours minimum) or up to a consecutive four-year period for a part-time student (not to exceed 67 hours). Applicants must have once been a little brother or sister in the Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Tarrant County program (verification required on application). Must complete A Nan Dearen Scholarship application. Application date: August 17 and December 14 Contact: Campus Financial Aid Office Leonardo de la Garza/Northeast Campus Forensics Award Amount: Up to $200 Frequency: Varies The uses of this award vary. Awards may be given for academic excellence, competitive participation, training, or other needs to support and promote the forensics program on Northeast Campus. Grants may be awarded to students enrolled in the forensics activities class, faculty, or support personnel. Therefore, criteria varies and will be determined by a committee appointed by the Northeast Communication Arts Department Chair. 3 Student must be enrolled in six hours of SureStart classes for current fall term, and enrolled in six hours of SureStart classes for current spring term. A 2.0 gpa is required to apply. An official transcript is also required. A short statement from the student describing future goals and why he or she should be chosen for this scholarship must be included with the application. Student must attach two letters of recommendation one from a Tarrant County College faculty member and one letter from someone who knows the student personally (not a relative). Amount: Minimum $200 Frequency: Each fall or spring semester Must have completed or be enrolled in the Women in New Roles Program (6 hours PSYC 1301 and PSYC 2302). Need-based, and in order to determine need, a current-year Student Aid Report must be on file in the Financial Aid Office. Attach an unofficial transcript to application. This is a one-time, non-renewable scholarship. Money used for tuition and books. List of past and current activities in which leadership skills were demonstrated. Three letters of recommendation. Statement indicating eligibility for scholarships. Must be considered full-time in TCC Nursing Program. Application date: November Bernardez Scholarship Amount: $400 Top Gun Award given to a second-year Respiratory Care Program student based on scholastic ability, positive attitude, excellent clinical performance, and potential success in the profession. Baylor-Grapevine Scholarship Amount: $1,000

4 Second-year Respiratory Care Program student based on scholastic ability, positive attitude, excellent clinical performance, and potential success in the profession. Baylor New Horizon Scholarship Second-year Respiratory Care Program student based on scholastic ability, attitude, and clinical performance. Compassionate Heart Scholarship Frequency: Spring only Second-year Respiratory Care Program student showing the most compassion toward patients while in the hospital. Application date: March 10 Helene Fuld Health Trust Fellowship Amount: Varies Be a full-time generic nursing student enrolled in a nursing program preparing for RN licensure; minimum GPA of 3.4 on a 4.0 scale; be a member of the National Student Nurses Association at time of application; participation in a leadership position at school; be respected by his or her peers and have the ability to represent the United States internationally at International Nursing Congress. Application date: November and April Contact: Nursing Department South Campus B.J. Long Scholarship Amount: $200 Frequency: January Must be enrolled in first year of Dental Hygiene Program. Based on academic achievement, financial need, and professional commitment. Application date: January Contact: Barbara Shearer Smith, Northeast Campus, or Northeast Campus Financial Aid Office May Owen Nursing Scholarship Amount: $500 to $1,000 Frequency: Each semester Student must be midpoint in completion of the Nursing Program; demonstrate superior attitude and ability for the profession of nursing; a desire to serve humanity through the profession of nursing; a dedication and desire to remain in the profession of nursing; recommendation by a member of the TCC nursing faculty; must re-enroll for second half of program to be eligible to receive grant award. Application date: May Radiology Associates Scholarship Amount: $750 Financial need; academic achievement; recommendations; must be second-year Radiology Technology Program student. Application date: June 1 Respiratory Care Student Club Scholarship Amount: $200 to $250, varies from year to year

The Respiratory Connection Scholarship Second-year Respiratory Care Program student based on scholastic ability, enthusiastic attitude, clinical, and an original paper written about pulmonary rehabilitation or home care. The Survivor Scholarship Frequency: Every fall and spring First -year Respiratory Care Program student based on scholastic ability, financial need, and potential success in the Respiratory Care Program/Profession. /March 10 Tarrant County Medical Society Scholarship Amount: Varies, usually approximately $900 Frequency: Each semester Financial need; academic achievement; successful completion of at least one semester in the TCC Nursing Program; must be full time in the program. Application date: September and March Texas Dental Hygiene Association Scholarship Amount: $400 Must be a second-year student in Dental Hygiene Program; selection based on professional development activities and financial need. Application date: March 10 Humanities Moren Northeast Arts Association Scholarship Amount: Varies Frequency: Varies This award varies from year to year. It may be offered in the form of a scholarship, an artist s grant, or for special projects. Application date: Held each spring; deadline varies Contact: Humanities Division Office, Northwest Campus Technical/Vocational Professional Aviation Maintenance Association Scholarship Dallas and Fort Worth Chapter Amount: Tuition and fees Anyone enrolled in the program including high school graduate with 2.5 or better GPA; submit appropriate transcripts and three letters of recommendation from teacher, counselor, or school administrator, community resident other than relative, club or organization fellow member, and (optional) from aviation maintenance industry representative; brief description of personal goals, financial need, and other

8 information that may help scholarship selection committee evaluate applicant. Application date: August 15, November 30 Contact: Pamela Lindsey, Northwest Campus William Roberts, Southwest Airlines Mechanic, Memorial Scholarship Frequency: Each semester Must be enrolled in either the Airframe Maintenance or any of the Aviation Maintenance Technology programs. Must have completed at least 30 hours in either curriculum before a student can apply. Must have at least a 2.5 GPA at the time of application and maintain that GPA for spring renewal. Must be enrolled for at least 9 hours in the program and must complete and earn at least 9 hours for spring renewal. Provide a completed TCC Scholarship application outlining career goals and one letter of recommendation from a faculty member who has recently taught the student. Preference will be given to a current Southwest Airlines employee.
