Overview now!board is a set of portable tools that turns any flat surface into an interactive whiteboard, enabling collaboration and interactivity almost anywhere! now!board works with your existing projector, computer and software set up and start presenting in a few minutes. Control your PC/Mac from the front of the room, capture and save notes and drawings on the fly, and easily toggle between virtual whiteboard, web and your applications. NOTE: Before using now!board for the first time, review the important safety information and follow the appropriate installation and user instructions. now!board Equipment Your now!board equipment (Figure 1) includes: now!board Camera now!board Stylus now!board Wand CD with Installation Software and User Manual USB Cable Quick Start Guide Carry Case (Figure 1)

The Camera The camera is designed to sit on a tabletop, facing the display surface. The camera contains an IR sensor, and tracks the movement of the stylus or wand. The camera must have a clear line of sight to the stylus or wand at all times during use. The camera must remain stable and in a fixed position during use. The camera may not function properly with interference from other infrared devices or in intense lighting such as halogen lighting or low-hanging light fixtures. The Stylus Do not use the stylus on surfaces that may scratch, such as drywall or painted surfaces. Carefully test on a small area on the display surface before use. The stylus is designed for use on hard, smooth surfaces only, such as traditional dry-erase boards. Rough surfaces may cause excessive wear on the stylus tip. For all other surfaces, use the wand. The stylus communicates with the camera through infrared technology (IR). The stylus must have a clear line of sight to the camera at all times. The IR emitter on the stylus is located at the top of the stylus lens. Hold the stylus as recommended (see page 18) to ensure that the IR emitter is unobstructed during use. The Wand The wand is designed for use on almost any surface, such as walls and projector screens. The wand communicates with the camera through infrared technology (IR). Be sure the IR emitter at the tip of the wand has a clear line of sight to the camera during use. Gently pull the tip to extend the wand to desired length. Safety Information The now!board camera is equipped with a class 2 laser, similar to those used in laser pointers. By default, the laser is engaged only during the calibration process. Only adults should calibrate now!board. The low-power visible laser emits radiant power below 1 mw. Avoid looking directly into the laser and avoid pointing the laser at other people.

Troubleshooting Issue The calibration screen keeps telling me to move the laser. Solution Make sure the now!board camera is 8" 12" (20 cm 30 cm) behind the projector. Make sure the camera is the appropriate distance from the display surface (5' 11' if using the wand and 5' 14' if using the stylus only). See Setting Up Your now!board Camera for more information. Bright lighting such as halogen lights may cause interference with now!board. Be sure that your projector and screen resolution are set at 1024 x 768. To change the resolution on your computer, go to: Windows: Control Panel > Display Mac: Settings > Display The stylus won t write, or writes intermittently. The camera needs to see the light in the stylus at all times. Watch that your hand, body or other objects in the room are not blocking the stylus or the camera. Be sure the tip is continuously depressed on the surface when writing.

Replace the batteries in the stylus when the green light is flashing quickly. Do not press the side button on the stylus while writing or calibrating. The mouse cursor or pen does not align with where I click on the screen. Using your computer keyboard, click on the Settings icon on the palette and then select Calibrate. To increase accuracy, be sure to click each of the nine blue calibration points directly in their centers. I m having difficulty double clicking to open folders or files. The wand won t write, or writes intermittently. Use the rightclick/control-click button on the side of the stylus to access file and folder menus on the desktop or to launch programs. The camera needs to see the tip of the wand at all times. Watch that your hand, body or other objects in the room are not blocking the wand tip or the camera. Hold the button down firmly and continuously to write. Replace the batteries in the wand. I m pressing to select a tool, link or other object, but I am getting no response. Be sure you are using the Select arrow (mouse cursor), instead of the pen.

Be sure that you are holding the stylus correctly (see Setup) and not pressing the side button. I am seeing some streaks on the projection surface while I write. Bright lighting such as halogen lights may cause interference with now!board. Turn off light sources that may potentially interfere. Disconnect other USB devices connected to the computer that may be interfering (such as a USB mouse or mp3 player). Reconnect them one at a time to identify which one is the cause. I connected the camera, but the software says the camera isn t connected. Disconnect the camera and plug into another USB port on your computer. Make sure the USB cable is plugged in both the computer and the camera. When I connect the camera, my mouse cursor acts erratically or gets stuck in the corner of the screen. Disconnect other USB devices connected to the computer that may be interfering (such as a USB mouse or mp3 player). Reconnect them one at a time to identify which one is the cause. Bright lighting such as halogen lights may cause interference with now!board. Turn off light sources that may potentially interfere.
