3 About SCT With over 35 years of experience, SunGard SCT is the leading global provider of e-education technology solutions for institutions of all sizes and levels of complexity. The company supports more than 1,300 client institutions worldwide with over 800 using Banner software. About Banner Banner is an integrated administrative software application developed specifically for higher education institutions by SunGard SCT. Banner consists of six integrated modules: Student Advancement Finance Human Resources Financial Aid General This system is highly integrated because all modules use a common database. This common database is shared by everyone who uses Banner, which makes it easy to maintain records and reports across departments. The data is stored in an Oracle database. Banner speaks to the Oracle database, retrieving information when you need it. Banner has a variety of tools that allow you to look up specific information easily. Though information in Banner is shared, there are extensive security measures to make sure only authorized individuals can access specific data. Some users are allowed only to look up information. While others can perform specific functions related to University administration, such as submitting requisitions, entering employee benefit information, or processing student registration. 4 Learning Objectives Key Terms At the end of this workshop you should be able to do the following: Login to Self-Service Banner View available classes Register and drop class View student information such as registration status, grades, holds, and unofficial academic transcript Banner Administrative software which supports University business needs. Course Reference Number (CRN) Unique 5-digit number assigned to a specific section of a course. All registration is done by CRN. Formerly known as the call number in the previous University system. System Requirements Personal Computer Pentium III, 500 MHz or higher Microsoft Windows 98 or higher 128 MB RAM Compatible web browsers: Explorer 6, Netscape 7.2, Firefox 1.5 or higher Macintosh OSX (OS 10) Compatible web browsers: Explorer 5 for OSX, Netscape 7.2 for OSX, Firefox 1.5 or higher Rowan ID Number Nine-digit system-generated number assigned to you for all University business. May also be referred to as Banner ID. This number is NOT your social security number. You may locate your Rowan ID Number at Student Self-Service Product within the Banner software which allows student to view class schedule, add/drop classes, and review student details such as registration status, holds, grades, and unofficial academic transcript.
