The MCCVLC Next Generation Task Force: The MCCVLC Next Generation Task Force Charge: To determine the type and extent of currently provided services of the MCCVLC. To investigate the need for improvement in current services and expansion of services. To recommend the best methods for expanding and improving services of the MCCVLC. Define outcomes that provide substantive value for students and member institutions.
The MCCVLC Next Generation Task Force: Assumptions revealed: The current model is built for institutions and not for students the process is very fragmented in the students mind, Students view the MCCVLC as the last option to getting a course, There is increased competition in the market place, Data shows an unmet need, Institutions are not incentivized to grow their online offerings, and The name itself, Michigan Community College Virtual Learning Collaborative, is obscure and students do not know what it means.
On the horizon MCCVLC Next Generation Task Force Outcomes Quality Student focused Collaboration Resource maximization strategy Market Share Shift from courses to credentials of value and address the unmet/untapped potential Proposed new name Michigan Colleges Online
On the horizon Milestones of the Initiative: Course Aggregator & Improved Infrastructure Course & Program Analytics Course & Object Repository Digital Credential Pathway Tool Collaborative Help Desk Collaborative Early Alert System Funding for the Initiative: $1.1 million from State budget $100,000 from MCCA Reserves
On the horizon Course Aggregator Software that will identify equivalent course sections that meet the requirements for multiple colleges and curricula, enable students to view real time course availability. The tool will integrate with the colleges registration system for course availability. Improved Infrastructure New robust registration system, that allows for automatic enrollments into desired courses through the MCO website.

On the horizon Course & Program Analytics Data warehouse that supports analytics to inform college strategic planning. Potential data reports could include enrollment requests/completions, top courses enrolled and website analytics. Course & Object Repository A Michigan-based learning object repository that supports instructional design processes through the discovery and integration of open-source content. Supports content scaffolding, peer discovery and collaboration and workspace sharing.
On the horizon Digital Credential Pathway Tool - A career planning tool that enables a student to develop a personalized map for an academic path, skills path and experience path.

On the horizon Collaborative Help Desk A help desk that supports student inquiries by utilizing a shared service model. Collaborative Early Alert System A student relationship management system that supports the student engagement lifecycle. Develop a faculty dashboard that provides analytics and alerting tools to help shape student behavior.
