2 About Distance Learning at ODU Old Dominion University is one of the largest providers of distance learning degree programs in the country. The University serves 4,000 students at 50 sites in Virginia, D.C., Arizona, Washington and Georgia. Thanks to a partnership with the Virginia Community College System, no Virginian is more than 50 miles from an Old Dominion University site. More than 4,000 students have graduated from Old Dominion via distance learning, including Navy personnel who took classes while deployed around the world.

7 Lower Level General Education & Departmental Requirements General education can be met with the completion of an Associates in Arts and Science from NRCC (General Studies, Liberal Arts, Business Administration, Education and/or Science). Completion of an AA&S program does not automatically meet departmental requirements. Students who complete an Associates in Applied Science must meet Old Dominion University s s general education requirements and any departmental requirements in a course-by by-course manner. Foreign language is required for general education. This requirement ement can be met by: - completion of AA&S program - two semesters of foreign language courses at college level - graduation from high school prior to completion of three years of a single language in high school or two years of two different languages in high school

8 Application Process Old Dominion University now provides On Site admissions decisions for those who apply for undergraduate admission to Old Dominion University distance learning programs at any ODU Distance Learning site. How do you apply? 1. Request that official transcripts from all previously attended colleges or universities be sent to your local ODU Site Director and confirm that they have been received. 2. Submit the following to your Site Director: A completed, hard copy ODU application available online or ODU office, o Edwards Hall, room 246 $40 application fee (paid by check or money order) Resume Two letters of recommendation (optional) 3. Schedule an appointment with the Site Director to review your application plication and receive your decision! If admitted: The Site Director will also discuss your unofficial transcript evaluation e and the curriculum sheet for your intended major. You will receive a letter and official transcript evaluation from m ODU s s Admissions Office in Norfolk in approximately two weeks. If denied admission: Site Director will work with you to chart a path toward future admissions a success. Admissions denial is often a short-term term slowdown, not a permanent block to admission. Please Note: Immediate admissions decisions apply only to undergraduate transfer admission to Old Dominion University. Select departments and programs have additional admission criteria, with application decisions made by faculty independent of University admission. See your Site Director for assistance with this procedure.

9 Financial Aid Students pursuing a degree through Old Dominion University s Distance Learning program are eligible to apply for financial aid. As with traditional programs, financial aid is awarded based on need. ODU will package students for any federal and state grants that they are qualified for AND will package students for student loans. To apply for financial aid, students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Apply online at ODU s s financial aid code is
