1 GENERAL INTRODUCTION The PCI Express is a new serial I/O technology that is compatible with the current PCI software environment. It provides low-cost, scalable performance for the next generation of computing and communications platforms, while also providing a long-term path to improved I/O slots. The Amphenol PCI Express product family provides 1X, 4X, 8X, 16X high speed serial PCI Express lanes, each with specific bandwidth capabilities. Each serial lane supports 2.5Gb/s in a 100Ω Gen1 system or 5.0Gb/s in a 85Ω Gen2 system. These connectors are ideal for use in a broad range of computing and data communications applications, including desktop PCs, servers and workstations. FEATURES & BENEFITS Base connector family offers 1, 4, 8, or 16 serial PCI Express lanes to scale to specific bandwidth requirements. Larger 230 and 280 position vertical connectors accept server riser card. Option for 16 X PCI Express with an integrated retention and ejection arm to retain graphics card.
