Intersections of art practise, cultural and communication studies, social approach of economy Transdisciplinary programm over 2,5 years with 5 Modules Blocked sessions (1 Module: 15 days /1 block: 7,5 days Wed.-Fr) and virtual learning platform Research lab, communication plattform, blog Evening lectures and workshops with international guests >> step by step your individual projects will be implemented 3

4 Modul 1: Art, Culture and Communication Key theoretical and practical understandings in cultural, communications and media theories within a cultural studies framework are acquired, with an emphasis on the intersections and cross connections between aesthetics, art, society and cultural production. 5 Modul 2: Cultural Economy, Politics and Law At the centre of this module stands cultural production in the context of its economic, political and legal conditions at local, regional, national and EU level. By means of concrete case studies the influences on economy, politics and law in the production of art, culture and media will be discussed and connected to theoretical concepts. 6 Modul 3: Cultural management processes In breaking down the boundaries between cultural production and management organisational and communication theories, this module presents a process-oriented management approach. Contemporary strategies and methods in the areas of fundraising and sponsoring, audience development and marketing, mediation of art and culture, as well as a cooperative project management, will be practically learned, reflected on and implemented. 7 Modul 4 : Topical Focus F O C U S I N T E R N S H I P C O A C H I N G According to individual interests, expertise can be gained in three topical clusters and implemented in a three-week work placement at a national (with a focus on institutions in Salzburg) or in an international organisation: Space & Location interventions in institutional and public spaces- initiatives for the development - communicative and social (in-between) spaces -context-specific spaces of identity Vision & Chance processes of social and cultural change - development of (social) visions -culture jamming - cultural hacking or subvertising - reflecting and deconstructing activism participation -active citizenship - (social) paradigm changes Networks & Decentralisation decentralised, transnational and transcultural networks - construction of a global society along - creation of imagined communities - (new) media (Web 2.0, social networks) - cultural industry Thur Fr Sun Module 4: Topical Focus Seminar according to topical focus SE 2 Project Application and Project Communication EX 3 Cultural Projects (Internship) Work in progress: PR 0 Project development and presentation in view of Master-Thesis KO 2 Individual Coaching 2x4 Hours TU 1 Case studies, lecture, field trips, guest lectures, contemporary developments (intensive work in small groups) How to apply and budget grants (practical tips), grant requirements and possibilities in the EU 3-week internship? with pre-defined focus in selected art or cultural institution Writing of the Master thesis on the basis of project development in course Indidivual coaching talks to complement course contents 7

8 Modul 5: Research and Master thesis Supported by a personal tutor and with supervision from experts, individuals author and present a Master thesis. The degree is completed by a MA defence and exam in front of a commission.
