1 Lesson 3 Balloon Parts & Terminology Subject: Reading, Science Learner Outcomes: 1. Identify the parts of the balloon using a fill in the blank worksheet and colored pencils. 2. To become familiar with ballooning terms and match correct definitions. Materials: Overheads, Projector, Overhead Markers, Worksheets: Vocabulary Cards, Vocabulary Matching, Balloon Fill-in-the-Blank, colored Pencils Lesson duration: approx minutes Procedure: 1. Review facts from lesson with students. 2. Create an overhead of the ballooning vocabulary to share and discuss with students. 3. Duplicate sheets containing vocabulary cards (one set/student). Have students cut apart cards and use individually or in pairs to learn vocabulary. As a final quiz invite students to turn all cards face down and play a memory game matching terms to their definitions. 4. Assess their vocabulary by having them complete the matching worksheet. 5. To help students correctly identify the parts of a balloon they will use the vocabulary from this lesson and explanations given in Lesson 1 to complete the fill-in-the-blank worksheet. They may also choose to color the completed worksheet if time permits.
