1 QCapture Pro 7 Removing Problem Windows Update Purpose On trying to start QCapture Pro 7, an error was observed with the following messages where the program would not start at all. On Windows 7 (64-bit): On Windows XP (SP3): This issue was found to be caused by a Windows 7 automatic update. This was observed on Windows 7 64-bit versions and Windows XP (SP3) with updates as of January 10, This document describes the steps to remove the problem update as a temporary workaround on a Windows 7 and Windows XP computers. NOTE: When an update is removed, the next time Windows searches for updates, the same update will be marked for download and installation. So this uninstall procedure may be needed again if another automatic update is completed. It s recommended to disable automatic updates or keep the computer offline until there is long term solution. 2 Relevant Updates The specific Windows updates that cause the issue is different on the different versions of Windows. See the following table for the relevant update(s) for the version of Windows you are using. Please note the update(s) to remove for the version of the operating system you are using. Then go to the relevant section for the removal procedure. 8 6) Depending on whether you have the Windows Service Pack 1 installed, you will need only to do A or B following (not both): A) If you have Service Pack 1 installed, click on the update numbered KB to select it and the line should be highlighted. B) If you do NOT have Service Pack 1 installed, click on the update numbered KB to select it and the line should be highlighted. C) Click on Uninstall to uninstall the update. 9 7) When prompted to uninstall click on Yes, then a wait prompt will appear while the update is removed. This may take a few minutes. 8) In the Update list as shown in step 6 above, click on the update numbered KB to select it and the line should be highlighted. Click on Uninstall to uninstall the update. Click on Yes when prompted to uninstall this update. This may take a few minutes to complete. 9) Once the update is uninstalled and the wait prompt disappears, close the Control Panel window and QCapture Pro 7 should start as expected. 13 4) When prompted to remove the update, click Yes and a wait prompt will be displayed while the update is uninstalled. This may take some time.
