1 PSA-CENTRAL WAREHOUSE EASTERN EUROPE > The automobile company (Peugeot Citroen) was planning a new central warehouse,from which spare parts to Eastern Europe (in particular to the new EU Member States) would be provided. > KR Franz Penner, businessman from Stockerau, brought this project, which had already been awarded to Slovakia, back to Austria. Acting now as building owner and lessor, he built the warehouse for PSA, with a surface area of above m 2, in Spillern near Stockerau. > The Glöckel-roof solution was offered as an alternative to a steel arched roof construction. > The reinforced concrete supporting beams set 21 m apart were spanned by flat sloped saddle roof-shaped glulam beams and covered with Glöckel universal roof elements with foil roofing and trapezoid sheet metal bottom view. > Glöckel supplied the complete roof solution including light fixtures and heat and smoke ventilators. 2 I ROOF I SPEDITION GEBRÜDER WEISS TRANSFER TERMINAL MARIA LANZENDORF > The International freight forwarders Gebrüder Weiss were planning to completely rebuild their Vienna headquarters, as the old site offered no more room to expand. More than m 2 of warehouse, transfer terminal and office buildings were built in Maria Lanzendorf, south of Vienna > Roof solution out of flat sloped saddle roof shaped beams with spans of 27 to 31 m as well as Glöckel universal roof elements with foil roofing and OSB bottom view. > As a long-standing customer, and after the completion of many other building projects, Gebrüder Weiss this time again placed their trust in a Glöckel solution. 3 Foto: Rupert Steiner I OBJECT I ROOF I VIENNA AIRPORT AIR CARGO CENTER > As a part of the continuous expansion of the Vienna Airport, new air freight clearance buildings, in response to the heavy increase in freight volume, as well as deposit halls for ground support equipment were planned. > After an architectural competition, the project was awarded to the»planungsgemeinschaft Treusch-FCP«with the concept of structuring the total about m 2 surface as shed roofs. > For the roof construction, steel frame girders with inclining wood elements and vertical glass panelling were foreseen. > The Glöckel roof solution consisted of timber frame beams and large surface roof elements, with already factory-fitted aluminium roofing, delivered to the building site ready for assembly. > The extremely short construction time mostly in the winter months could thus, through this construction mode, be reduced even further. > The fact that the remaining work on the roof construction (such as glazing and heat and smoke ventilators) was also supplied by Glöckel facilitated the detailed planning and optimal co-ordination from the start. 4 SALZBURG AIRPORT TERMINAL 2 > The modern check-in hall, planned by architect Rhomberg, was to be a friendly, light building, equally suited for everyday operations as for events. > Accordingly, sound absorption and the level of sound insulation were corresponding guidelines for the roof construction. > Furthermore, the roof system should adapt to the planned main steel supporting structure in order to be seen as one unit. > Glöckel roof elements were offered as a variation of the originally tendered roof construction with a trapezoid sheet metal supporting shell, thermal insulation, foil roofing and sound proofing measures. Due to the reduction of construction time by three weeks, as well as identical costs, Glöckel won the contract. > The roof elements (with perforated trapezoid sheet metal bottom view) were constructed in accordance with the soundproofing-, fire protectionand architectural requirements. 5 FEDERAL FIRE BRIGADE TRAINING CENTRE TULLN > The Federal State Lower Austria planned to build a new Federal Fire Brigade Training Centre in Tulln. Next to office- and administration buildings, the project included garages, warehouses and deposit halls for materials and equipment, for which an arched roof construction was foreseen. > The Glöckel roof solution consisted of arched glulam beams, Glöckel universal roof elements, as well as a aluminium roofing assembled on site. > The fact that those responsible for this project trusted a solution made of wood for this training centre, where all fire brigade staff in Lower Austria is trained, is of particular significance. 6 VIENNA TRADE FAIR & CONGRESS CENTRE, HALL A1, HALL A3 > A primary concern for the architects, designers and traffic planners of the new Vienna Trade Fair Centre was its structural integration into the natural environment of the Prater. The roof construction should fit into the general concept and fulfil all building physics- and sound protection objectives. The lantern construction, set at the top and completing each pyramid, housed the heat and smoke ventilators and the light fixtures. > Because of the pyramid-shape of the roof and the steel supporting structure, our universal roof elements were constructed with a width corresponding to the 6 m centre-to-centre distance. This simplified the connection to the lantern construction considerably. The elements were delivered and assembled with completed covering of sectional sheets with sliding fasteners. 7 Foto: Rupert Steiner I ROOF I OBI BADEN > Despite the architecturally sophisticated construction, curved in mutable radii, the new Obi do-it-yourself market in Baden called for a cost-effective and economic building solution. > Parts of the roof surface had to correspond to the fire resistance category F 60. > The arched roof construction is ideally suited for Glöckel glulam beams. Hence a cost-effective and comprehensive solution for the entire roof area was implemented, using the Glöckel universal roof elements in conjunction with the glazing and built-in fixtures in the entire roof area.
