Installation and Setup: Setup Wizard Account Information Once the My Secure Backup software has been installed on the end-user machine, the first step in the installation wizard is to configure their account details. The sub-account login details are provided by the reseller (the master account holder) and should consist of a DOMAIN, USERNAME and PASSWORD.

Automatic Backup (This feature may be disable by the Master Account) During the next step, end-users will configure the Automatic Backup functionality. You can always enable or change the settings end-users select here at a later time via the Configuration area of My Secure Backup software.

Network Drive (This feature may be disabled by the Master Account holder) To enable the Network Drive feature, simply select the desired Drive Letter (Windows) or Drive Name (Mac/Linux) and the maximum cache size to be used. ** Please note that if end-users are running Antivirus software they will want to ensure it is properly configured to ignore My Secure Backup Network Drive and not scan it. Failure to do so could result in undesired activity to their Network Drive.

Sync Folders (This feature may be disabled by their Master Account holder) The My Secure Backup Sync feature works with a cloud-based Network Drive to help make end-user data available anytime, anywhere. By selecting specific folders on their computers to leverage the Sync feature, those folders will stay in sync across all of their computers. Using My Secure Backup Network Drive Please note that the Local Drive Mapping feature is an option that must be enabled by the Master Account holder you, the Reseller. If end-users do not see this option in the Configuration, you will have to enable it for them. My Secure Backup can make online storage appear as a local network drive for your end-users. This allows them to easily copy files back and forth via drag and drop, and open files directly from their online storage. To enable the Network Drive feature, go into the CONFIGURATION and click the LOCAL DRIVE MAPPING option under the associated Online Disk on the left menu bar. Network Drive Letter/Name: End-users have the option to assign a network drive letter to their My Secure Backup network drive. To stop using the network drive functionality, change the

Network Drive Letter to (disabled) or delete the Name from the text box and click OK. Maximum Cache Size: In an effort to minimize network traffic and improve performance, My Secure Backup stores recently accessed files and directories locally. This option allows endusers to choose how much space is allocated for this functionality. Upload Files in the Background for Faster Performance: When enabled, My Secure Backup will quickly copy any new files into the local cache, and then upload them in the background. This will permit their network drive to become faster and easier to use and also allows the software to automatically retry any failed uploads. Drive Type: (Windows) By default, My Secure Backup uses a native file system driver so it can work more like a regular disk drive. If end-users have trouble with their network drive, try choosing WebDAV and My Secure Backup will use that respective method instead. End-users may need to reboot for changes to take effect. 6 Automatic Backup There are 2 options for creating Automatic Backups within My Secure Backup. Automatic Backups under a Backup Vault Backup Vaults are storage containers within an online disk where backup data resides for a single computer. A Backup Vault allows for block-level data de-duplication within and across multiple files and versions of files as well as compression for all data, which means greatly improved backup speeds and less total data stored. Please note that Backup Vaults cannot be browsed via the Network Drive feature. Backup Vaults are designed and optimized specifically for backup and restore procedures only. Backup Vault Overview: A single account can have multiple Online Disks (which may be at different cloud providers), and each Online Disk can have multiple Backup Vaults (multiple computers backing up into the same Online Disk). Only a single computer can backup into a specific Backup Vault each end-user computer you are backing up needs its own Backup Vault. However, if end-users replace a computer, you can take over the old computer s Backup Vault to avoid having to re upload any data that was already backed up. End-users can restore from any Backup Vault, even one being used by a different computer. Legacy Automatic Backups The Legacy Backup feature allows end-users to keep files and folders on their local machine backed up automatically off-site to their My Secure Backup account. If end-users mainly want to use their online storage space for backup, the Legacy Backup feature makes it easy and eliminates the need to copy files to their mapped drive manually on a regular basis. Once backed up with Legacy Backup, their files will also be accessible via the mapped drive and endusers can always easily open or copy backed up files from their mapped drive back to their local machine. Which one do I choose? If end-users will not need to 'explore' or navigate back through the data that end-users are backing up (via the Network Drive or Web Access), then is it highly recommended that you choose the Backup Vault due to the optimizations of compression, de-dupe, etc. If end-users will ever need to browse or gain direct access to the data from an automatic backup, then a Legacy Backup would be required. Sync Please note that the Sync Folders feature is an option that must be enabled by the Master Account holder. If end-users do not see this option in the Configuration, you will have to enable it for them.

The My Secure Backup Sync feature works with a cloud-based Network Drive to help make end-user data available anytime, anywhere. Typical usage scenarios include: Syncing a local project folder on a laptop to their Network Drive so end-users can work offline and have changes uploaded to the cloud and available from any other My Secure Backup-running computer when they get back online. Syncing a folder between two computers and the cloud so that changes end-users make on one are immediately sent to the other, giving them constant local access to their latest files. Syncing a folder between multiple computers and using the Network Drive to access files on a third computer. For example, a Netbook with limited storage can work directly off their Network Drive without having to store files locally. Changes made on the Network Drive will automatically sync back to the local folders on their other computers running My Secure Backup. The new sync feature is configured using the Sync Folders settings under Network Drive in the configuration dialog.

Simply select a folder on the local computer that end-users want to sync to their Network Drive. The default location on their Network Drive will be sync/<folder name>, but end-users can select another location using the advanced options. Changes made to their local folder are automatically uploaded to the Network Drive, and changes made on the Network Drive from any computer will be copied to their local folder. To sync files to a second computer, end-users simply go to the Sync Folder options on the second computer and check the Sync Folder they want to synchronize and then select a local folder for the files. This process can be repeated to keep an unlimited number of computers in sync.

Configuration Options Configuration : Application Settings PLEASE NOTE THAT SOME OF THE OPTIONS MAY NOT BE VISIBLE UNLESS THE "SHOW ADVANCED OPTIONS" FEATURE IS ENABLED IN THE LOWER LEFT SECTION OF THE CONFIGURATION. The application settings section of My Secure Backup applies to the entire application, across all online disks and backup jobs. Prompt for Password: This option will allow end-users to control access to the My Secure Backup application and its configuration. o o o o "None: No password prompts": My Secure Backup will never prompt end-users for their password, and will run the WebDAV server and (where supported) mount Network Drives on service startup. "Low: Open Configuration": My Secure Backup will require their password in order to open the Configuration dialog. The entire configuration is encrypted using their password and a machine-specific key, meaning that in order to use this configuration on another machine the password will be required. "Medium: Monitor Startup": My Secure Backup will require their password in order to start the Monitor application. Like the "Low" setting the configuration file is encrypted with the password and machine key. The WebDAV and Network Drives are only available when the Monitor application is running. "High: Service Startup": At its highest security setting My Secure Backup will require their password before the service can start up. In this configuration only the password is used to encrypt the configuration, and like "Medium" the WebDAV and Network Drives are only available when the Monitor application is running. Note that automatic backups will not run until the service has been given the password. As such, we recommend starting the Monitor application on startup so that the service can be started. ** Please note, with Password Protection settings of LOW and higher, this will encrypt the configuration file completely. This is done using both their account password and a machine specific generated password as well. This functionality first renders the entire XML file unreadable directly. Additionally, if the configuration file is moved to another computer, the software would prompt for the password prior to launching My Secure Backup.

Keep Activity Log: Sets the length of time the activity log is kept (Disabled, 7 days, 30 days, 1 year, forever). Cache Directory: Selects the path where recently accessed files can be stored for faster file access. Remove Configuration: This option clears the configuration to allow end-users to initiate the first time setup wizard. Check for Updates Automatically: When checked, the software will check for software updates. Configuration : Account Settings Domain: The domain that My Secure Backup is currently configured to connect with. Username: Their account username. Features: Displays the subscription and features currently allocated to their account. Remove Configuration: This option clears the configuration to allow end-users to initiate the first time setup wizard.

Configuration : Network Settings PLEASE NOTE THAT SOME OF THE OPTIONS MAY NOT BE VISIBLE UNLESS THE "SHOW ADVANCED OPTIONS" FEATURE IS ENABLED IN THE LOWER LEFT SECTION OF THE CONFIGURATION. The network settings options control all network connections made by My Secure Backup software. The application makes only outgoing TCP connections to ports 80 and 443. Connect to Amazon S3 over SSL (encrypts all network traffic): Enabling this option will protect and encrypt their data while it is in transit between their computer and the cloud storage servers. This does not apply to the actual encryption of the file once it reaches its final destination. Optimize performance for high bandwidth connections: This option, which enables large TCP window sizes, MAY increase performance if end-users have > 2 Mbps upstream bandwidth. End-users should NOT enable it on slower connections as it may reduce performance. Proxy Server Configuration Options o Connect via an HTTP proxy server: When this option is enabled, their data will be routed via their selected proxy server. o Verify: Clicking the Verify button will allow end-users to test their proxy server configuration.

Configuration : Bandwidth Limiting PLEASE NOTE THAT SOME OF THE OPTIONS MAY NOT BE VISIBLE UNLESS THE "SHOW ADVANCED OPTIONS" FEATURE IS ENABLED IN THE LOWER LEFT SECTION OF THE CONFIGURATION. My Secure Backup Desktop Edition can limit how much of their Internet bandwidth it uses to ensure that bandwidth is available for other applications like web browsing, VOIP and games. End-users can change these settings without interrupting transfers in progress. Upload Bandwidth o Limit upload bandwidth to: Limits their upload bandwidth to XX kbps (10 kbps is the minimum setting) o Enforce this limit: End-users have the option to enforce bandwidth limitation at all times or only during their selected times. Download Bandwidth o Limit upload bandwidth to: Limits their download bandwidth to XX kbps (10 kbps is the minimum setting) o Enforce this limit: End-users have the option to enforce bandwidth limitation at all times or only during their selected times.

Configuration: Online Disks Online Disks store contain of the data that is stored via the Network Drive, Sync or Automatic Backup features. If end-users decide that they do not need access to the selected online disk, they can remove it from the configuration by clicking the Disconnect Online Disk button. This does not delete the online disk or data within it, it simply 'disconnects' the online disk from the My Secure Backup application.

Configuration : Network Drive PLEASE NOTE THAT SOME OF THE OPTIONS MAY NOT BE VISIBLE UNLESS THE "SHOW ADVANCED OPTIONS" FEATURE IS ENABLED IN THE LOWER LEFT SECTION OF THE CONFIGURATION. Local Cache Validation: Recently accessed files and directories are stored locally to minimize network traffic. If end-users use the same bucket from multiple computers, My Secure Backup needs to check with the remote server occasionally to see if changes have been made by the other computers. Retry failed uploads: If a network or file systems error occurs while uploading, My Secure Backup will attempt to upload the file again automatically. End-users can configure the number of retries here. If the retry count is exceeded, the application will move on to the next file to be uploaded. Enable upload resume for large files: Large file uploads that are interrupted can be resumed where they left off rather than starting the upload from the beginning of the file. Only upload changed portions of large files: My Secure Backup will only upload the changed portions of large files rather than re-uploading the entire new file.

Configuration: Local Drive Mapping Please note that the Local Drive Mapping feature is an option that must be enabled by the Master Account holder. If end-users do not see this option in the Configuration, you will need to enable it for them. My Secure Backup can make online storage appear as a local network drive. This allows end-users to easily copy files back and forth via drag and drop, and open files directly from their online storage. To stop using the network drive functionality, change the Network Drive Letter to (disabled) or delete the Name from the text box and click OK.

Configuration : Previous Versions PLEASE NOTE THAT SOME OF THE OPTIONS MAY NOT BE VISIBLE UNLESS THE "SHOW ADVANCED OPTIONS" FEATURE IS ENABLED IN THE LOWER LEFT SECTION OF THE CONFIGURATION. My Secure Backup can be configured to keep an archive of previous versions of files that are changed or deleted. Previous versions are kept in a special directory on their Online Disk (~VersionArchive). To restore a previous version, end-users can use the built-in restore feature. My Secure Backup can be configured to delete previous versions after a period of time. The length of time is calculated from the time the file was updated or deleted, so if end-users have My Secure Backup configured to remove previous versions after 60 days, all files that were updated or deleted more than 60 days ago will be purged from the previous version archive and can no longer be recovered. Keep previous versions of changed files: When enabled, My Secure Backup will keep copies of the previous versions of files when end-users modify the file or upload a new file with the same name. Keep previous versions of deleted files: When enabled, My Secure Backup will keep a copy of files that are deleted either manually or during backup cleanup. Keep previous versions for: When All Files (the default setting) is selected, previous versions will be kept for both Legacy Automatic Backup files (does not apply to Backup Vaults) and any files uploaded directly via the mapped drive. When Legacy Backup files only is selected, previous versions of changed and deleted files will only be kept for files backed up using the Legacy Automatic Backup feature. Files that are manually uploaded or deleted via the mapped drive will not have previous versions kept. Don't keep previous versions for files over: When enabled, files larger than the specified size will not be archived when modified or deleted. Don't keep certain types of files: When enabled, files with the selected types will not be archived when modified or deleted. Don't keep files in certain folders: When enabled, files under the selected folders will not be archived when modified or deleted. Remove previous versions after: When enabled, previous versions will be deleted once they are older than the specified number of days. For example, if the setting is 30 days, a file that is deleted on April 1 will be kept in the version archive until at least May 1, after which it may be purged. Previous versions are cleaned up once a week automatically. When this setting is disabled, previous versions are never deleted and will continue to take up space. End-users can manually remove previous versions by deleting the files from their ~VersionArchive folder. Keep at least: When enabled, allows end-users to select a minimum number of versions to keep regardless of the file's age. Keep at most: When enabled, allows end-users to select a maximum number of versions to keep regardless of the file's age.

Configuration : Sync Folders PLEASE NOTE THAT SOME OF THE OPTIONS MAY NOT BE VISIBLE UNLESS THE "SHOW ADVANCED OPTIONS" FEATURE IS ENABLED IN THE LOWER LEFT SECTION OF THE CONFIGURATION. With Sync, end-users can keep a local folder synchronized with a folder on their network drive, allowing them to work out of their local directories and have everything instantly stored in the cloud. If end-users go offline, they can keep working and have their changes sync back up when they come online. End-users can sync the same folder on multiple PCs, allowing them to seamlessly share files with all their PCs through the cloud. They can still access their files via the Network Drive, allowing them to access and update their content from PCs where they may not want to sync everything locally (like a netbook). Changes end-users make on the Network Drive are instantly sync d back to their other PCs when they are online. Unlike other sync software, end-users can sync any folder on their PC from its existing location, and they can keep multiple folders in sync at the same time.

Sync Options: Local Sync Folder: This is the folder on the end-user s local system where their synced files are stored. Remote Sync Name: This name identifies the sync folder on the Network Drive. Once this folder is created, it cannot be changed. What to Sync: End-users can select from 1 of 3 options and the associated wildcards 1. All the Files in this folder 2. Only certain types of files 3. All files except certain types

Configuration : Legacy Backup PLEASE NOTE THAT SOME OF THE OPTIONS MAY NOT BE VISIBLE UNLESS THE "SHOW ADVANCED OPTIONS" FEATURE IS ENABLED IN THE LOWER LEFT SECTION OF THE CONFIGURATION. The Legacy Backup feature allows end-users to keep files and folders on their local machine backed up automatically off-site to their My Secure Backup. To create a new backup job, start by choosing a name for the backup in the Job Name field.

End-users also have the option to import previously exported backup job configurations. A new backup job will be created with the imported settings. After performing one of the two options above, the new backup job will be added under the Legacy Backup section of the end-users online disk where they can further customize the job's specific settings. Backup Scheduling Automatic backups can be customized to run automatically at any time end-users wish. They also have the option of running any backup job manually from My Secure Backup Monitor. Automatically backup my files every: This option allows end-users to choose the frequency in which their backup will run. End-users have the option to run the backup manually, or at intervals of every 5 minutes, every 15 minutes, hourly, every 6 hours, daily, or weekly. Selecting the Day or Week options will allow end-users to select the specific time of day for their backups to run.

Stop the backup if it runs longer than: To prevent backups from running for extended periods of time, when enabled, this option allows end-users to set a maximum run time for their backups. When a scheduled backup time is missed: If their backup time should happened to be missed (i.e. computer is off, internet connection is lost), their backup can either wait until the next scheduled interval is reached. It can also be configured to run as soon as possible once the condition that prevented it from occurring is no longer present. Wake my computer from sleep for scheduled backups: If their computer is in a sleep mode, this option will allow the software to wake the computer from sleep mode in order to conduct the scheduled backup. What to Backup The folder selection menu is divided into two sections to allow end-users to quickly and easily choose or exclude the folders for their backup jobs. The Common Folders section contains the most common folders that are typically selected for backup. For a greater level of control, end-users can select the specific files and folders under the All Folders section. When a folder is selected, end-users will have the following options:

Do not backup this folder Backup all the files in this folder Backup only certain types of files Backup all files, except certain types Backup on the files I select in this folder Backup files in sub-folders The state of their selected folders and the files beneath them are indicated by the status of the selection box to the left. When a folder is first selected, it will assume that all of the files within it as well as all of the files and folders beneath it will be included for backup. This status also indicates that as new files and folders are added, those new items will also become part of the backup. A bold box denotes a folder directly selected whereas a thin box indicates that it was included due to a parent folder being selected for backup. If a folder has files or folders that are selected beneath it that do not have any filtering enabled (i.e. specific items selected or excluded), it is flagged with a gray check. New files and folders that are added beneath a folder flagged with a gray check will only be included in future backups if they are under or within a folder with a black check. Folders that have items specifically selected or excluded (filters applied) for backup beneath it will be flagged with a check in a grey background. New files and folders that are added beneath a folder flagged with a grey background will only be included in future backups if they are under or within a folder with a black check. Folders that are to be excluded completely from a backup are flagged with a red X. Once a folder is marked for exclusion, end-users will not be able to select files or folders beneath it until end-users remove it from its exclusion status.

Backup Options To give end-users the most control over their automatic backups, these additional options will allow end-users to customize their specific backup job. Remove locally deleted files from my remote backup: With this option enabled, files that are deleted from the end-users computer are also deleted from My Secure Backup, however, the file will still be maintained in the Previous Versions archive. Backup in-use files (NTFS formatted drives only): For NTFS drives, My Secure Backup has the ability to backup files that are currently in use by the computer. For Mac and Linux, locked files are already able to be backed up. Ignore timezone shifts when detecting changed files: For FAT file systems, this feature will assume files modified within even hour increments from the previous version are due to time zone shifts. If this option is enabled, there is a small potential that a file update may be overlooked if end-users happen to update a file on increments of exactly one hour from the recent version. If end-users do not have a FAT file system, this option should not be selected. Previous Versions o Use the online disk previous version settings for this backup job: All settings as configured in the Previous Versions section will apply to this specific backup. o Customize the previous version settings for this backup job: Keep previous versions of changed files: Copies of the previous versions of files are maintained when end-users modify the file or upload a new file with the same name. Keep previous versions of deleted files: Copies of files that are deleted either manually or during backup cleanup are still maintained. Don't keep previous versions for files over: Files larger than the specified size will not be archived when modified or deleted. Keep at most: Allows end-users to select a maximum number of versions to keep regardless of the file's age. Backup Reporting o Backup reporting allows end-users to view summaries of backup jobs on the web, as well as receive alerts and RSS updates. Configuration : Backup Vaults PLEASE NOTE THAT SOME OF THE OPTIONS MAY NOT BE VISIBLE UNLESS THE "SHOW ADVANCED OPTIONS" FEATURE IS ENABLED IN THE LOWER LEFT SECTION OF THE CONFIGURATION. Backup Vaults are storage containers within an online disk where the end-users backup data resides for a single computer.

Only a single computer can backup into a specific Backup Vault each computer end-users are backing up needs its own Backup Vault. However, if end-users replace a computer, you can take over the old computer s Backup Vault to avoid having to re upload any data that was already backed up. End-users can Restore from any Backup Vault, even one being used by a different computer. Creating Automatic Backups To create a new backup job, start by choosing a name for the backup in the Job Name field.

End-users also have the option of running any backup job manually from My Secure Backup Monitor. Automatically backup my files every: This option allows end-users to choose the frequency in which their backup will run. End-users have the option to run the backup manually, or at intervals of every 5 minutes, every 15 minutes, hourly, every 6 hours, daily, or weekly. Selecting the Day or Week options will allow them to select the specific time of day for their backups to run. When a scheduled backup time is missed: If their backup time should happened to be missed (i.e. computer is off, internet connection is lost), the backup can either wait until the next scheduled interval is reached. It can also be configured to run as soon as possible once the condition that prevented it from occurring is no longer present. Wake my computer from sleep for scheduled backups: If the computer is in a sleep mode, this option will allow the software to wake the computer from sleep mode in order to conduct the scheduled backup.
