Introduction These are the release notes for Facility Commander (Windows-only version). For installation instructions, refer to the Facility Commander Installation Manual on the Documentation CD in conjunction with these release notes. Installation instructions that are specific for Facility Commander are addressed in the Facility Commander Release Notes. Included in your shipment The following CD/DVDs are included in your Facility Commander media kit: FC Software Installation DVD: Contains installers for application server, media server, Informix database, and client workstation. Also contains National Language Support (NLS) packs for English, Spanish, and Portuguese. FC Video Drivers CD: Contains separately licensed 3rd party video drivers optionally supported by Facility Commander Third party video drivers are supported for client and media server machines running Windows XP only. UTC Fire & Security video drivers are standard and are automatically installed from the Facility Commander Installation DVD for your convenience. Documentation CD: Contains all the latest manuals for UTC Fire & Security access products. 2 Facility Commander Release Notes

3 New features Support for the Pelco KBD300A Keyboard: The Pelco KBD300A Keyboard is integrated into Facility Commander using the VisioWave SDK and requires some basic configuration. Refer to the Facility Commander with VisioWave Setup Guide provided on the Documentation CD for detailed setup information on the Pelco KBD300A Keyboard. Support for a virtual keyboard: The virtual keyboard is integrated into Facility Commander Client; however, it is enabled only if the Pelco license is present. Refer to the Facility Commander with VisioWave Setup Guide for instructions on using the virtual keyboard. Note: Version of the FC client cannot be used in a mixed environment with the FC client. Support for the following video devices: GE TruVision TVR10 GE DVSR xu_4 GE DVSR xu_8 GE DVSR xu_16 GE SymDec C_8 GE SymDec C_16 Pelco DX8100 Integrated video driver support for the following GE VisioWave video products: GE Discovery 12x5 (VOS version 4.2.1) GE Discovery 24x5 (VOS version 4.2.1) GE Evolution 28x5 (VOS version 4.2.1) GE Evolution 30x5 (VOS version 4.2.1) Note: For VisioWave specific installation and configuration requirements, refer to the Facility Commander with VisioWave Setup Guide provided on the Documentation CD. Integrated video driver support for the following GE SymSuite series products has been added: SymDec C-16 and GE SymDec C-8. Facility Commander Release Notes 3

4 VisioWave renderer: Integrated the VisioWave rendering engine for utilizing hardware rendering for all VisioWave (VOS) devices and Sym devices. New device types and icons: Each video device model is categorized as one of the following four device types: DVR, NVR, Storage, or Encoder. In the VMC navigation tree, these devices are represented as follows: DVR & NVR types - Encoder types - Storage types continue to be represented with the current DVR icon in the current hierarchy structure. are represented as an IP camera or IP dome (new icon) at the same hierarchy level as network attached DVR/NVR types. IP domes display their associated presets. are represented with a new icon at the same hierarchy level as network attached DVR/NVR types. New icons indicating the following conditions: Device is offline Communication failure with a device Video loss alarm Remote storage support: Support for configuring remote storage for video devices (requires support by the video driver). To configure remote storage: 1. Log in to the Facility Commander web-based administration application. 2. Select Device Management, Digital Video Recorders. 3. Click the Add DVR button and fill in the necessary fields for creating a remote storage device. Click Submit. 4. Return to the Device Management, Digital Video Recorders page. 5. Select the existing device for which remote storage is to be configured. 4 Facility Commander Release Notes

5 6. On the Model tab, select the newly created remote storage device from the dropdown in the Archive Device field. Click Submit. Set and reset the preset position: Once you have defined a preset for a PTZ camera in the Facility Commander application, you can reset the defined position for the preset from the Video Console Navigation Tree (requires support by video driver). To reset the preset: 1. Select the desired PTZ camera from the Navigation Tree in the Video Console. 2. Move the view to the desired location. 3. Right-click on the defined preset that you want to associate with the view and then select Set Preset Position. A dialog opens to confirm your action. Click Ok. New alarm types: The following new alarm types are now supported and indicated on the navigation tree (requires support by video driver): Camera analytics alarm Camera trouble alarm Video device health trouble alarm Video device health fail alarm Sub-Navigation tree: In the Video Console Custom View tab, a subnavigation tree has been added to show only the video sources that are currently being displayed along with their devices and presets. Support for up to 256 cameras: The limitation for number of cameras supported by a video device has been increased to 256 (requires support by video driver). Video device status from navigation tree: The video device status is now available from the navigation tree by right-clicking on the video device, and then selecting Status. Navigation tree icon size: The size of the icons in the navigation tree can be customized from the Video Viewer Preferences panel. The new size does not take effect until you log off and then log on to the Facility Commander Client application. Facility Commander Release Notes 5

6 Known issues Selecting a camera preset from the navigation tree does not work on SymSafe-4 and 8 DVRs, for cameras with a bus address of 8 or greater due to a SymSafe firmware issue. Samsung/Digital Watchdog is no longer supported in this release. Repeated error message in the system log file "Blasserver automount[5496]:lookup_mount: exports lookup failed for casi" can safely be ignored. The snapshot feature is not supported when playing a video clip directly from the Evidence CD. You must copy the Evidence CD files to your computer hard drive to use the snapshot feature. VisioWave - DVR Event Search is not supported with VisioWave Discovery 300. Use the System Event Search function instead. - DVR Motion Search is only supported for VisioWave recorders running VOS 4.2 or later. - The video stream s time stamp is displayed based on the time zone of the operating system where the video is viewed instead of the time zone configured for the VisioWave device. - Event tagging does not work if the VisioWave device is configured with Event storage only. If you get the error "Could not find a valid Java virtual machine to load when attempting to uninstall the Media server from a Windows 2003 server, then you must manually remove the FacilityCommanderMediaServer folder from your system. Recorded video cannot be played from a Legend IP Dome camera if it is streaming video to a SymDec or SymSafe device. Third party video drivers (Integral, Intellex, Panasonic, Pelco, and Nice) are not supported on Windows Vista or Windows 7. All five drivers work on a Windows XP media server, but only Integral and Panasonic work on a Linux media server. The Facility Commander documentation (Administration Guide and online Help) does not correctly reflect the icon shown in the navigation tree when a DVR is set to offline status. 6 Facility Commander Release Notes

7 The Facility Commander documentation (Administration Guide and online Help) does not correctly reflect the icon shown in the navigation tree when device communication has failed. The Facility Commander documentation (Administration Guide and online Help) does not correctly describe the submenus Upload Views and Download Views on the View menu. The correct descriptions are as follows: - Upload Views - Click to upload all views for this Operator to a file storage location. - Download Views - Click to download all views for this Operator from a file storage location. The Facility Commander documentation (Administration Guide and online Help) does not use correct names for the following submenus on the Transform menu: Horizontal Flip, Vertical Flip, Group, and Ungroup. The Facility Commander documentation (Administration Guide and online Help) does not correctly describe the File menu options in the Graphics Editor and Symbol Editor (replace resources with graphic files ). Some Facility Commander alarms that are included in the Alarm Monitor may not appear in the Event Monitor. Single step reverse playback When playing an MPC video clip using the single step reverse playback option, the video plays a single step forward. As a workaround, the user should pause the video clip, reposition it as necessary using the slider bar on the bottom of the video player, and then single step forward to view each frame as needed. Video Event Search The following DVR models do not support the Video Event Search feature on the FCC system. - TruVision TVR10 - DVSRxU-4/8/16. Facility Commander Release Notes 7

8 Backing up and restoring graphical maps files (Windows only) During an upgrade to Facility Commander from an earlier version, if there are any graphical maps files stored on the Facility Commander Application Server and it is expected that these graphical maps files be available after the upgrade, the following steps must be performed: Before upgrading the Facility Commander Application Server: 1. Copy the entire maps directory (for example, C:\Program Files\FacilityCommanderServer\server\webapps\Merlin\WEB- INF\maps) to a safe file storage location on a network server or removable media. 2. Perform the steps in the Backing up a SQL Server 2008 Database section in Chapter 17 of the Facility Commander Administration Guide. After upgrading the Facility Commander Application Server: 3. Perform the steps in the Restoring a SQL Server 2008 Database section in Chapter 17 of the Facility Commander Administration Guide. 4. Copy the entire maps directory from the file storage location in step 1 above into the C:\Program Files\FacilityCommanderServer\server\webapps\Merlin\WEB-INF directory. Subsequently, when running a newly installed Facility Commander Client, it will be possible to download the graphical maps files, including schemes and palettes, from the newly installed Facility Commander Application Server. Application notes Changes to the installation procedures and new minimum hardware specifications are detailed in the Facility Commander Installation Manual. Note: Facility Commander does not support a Media Server running on a Windows XP Professional operating system. For Windows Vista and Windows 7 systems, the user must be logged in as the built-in administrator account ("Administrator") in order to install 8 Facility Commander Release Notes

9 the client workstation. You do not need to be logged in as the built-in administrator account to run the Facility Commander application. If you experience issues of the video freezing when rendering video, the hardware acceleration setting in your computer might require adjustment. To change the hardware acceleration value: 1. Log off from the Facility Commander client. 2. Right-click on the desktop, and then select Properties from the shortcut menu. 3. Click the Settings tab and then click the Advanced button. 4. Click the Troubleshoot tab. Under Hardware acceleration, move the slider to the center of the scale. 5. Click Apply, and then click OK. 6. Restart the Facility Commander client. Depending on your system, further adjustment may be required for optimal performance. Remote storage on Digital Video Recorder form GE Legend IP Dome or GE SynNet 1 When you select the GE Legend IP Dome or GE SynNet 1 devices on the Digital Video Recorder form Definition tab, the Primary Storage field is enabled and populated with all Symsuite devices. Select the appropriate device from the drop-down list. Primary Storage is a required field that must be configured. VisioWave devices When you select any VisioWave device on the Digital Video Recorder form Definition tab, the Primary Storage and Secondary Storage fields are enabled. Primary Storage is not a required field for any device except the GE Discovery 105E. Secondary Storage is not a required field. Facility Commander Release Notes 9

10 Configuring archive storage devices A previously created Digital Video Recording (DVR) device with storage capability can be configured to serve as an archive device for another DVR. To configure an archive device: 1. In the Facility Commander Client, select Device Management, and then Digital Video Recorders. The Digital Video Recorders page displays. 2. Click Add DVR and complete the required fields. 3. In the Archive Device field on the Model tab, click the drop-down list and select the DVR that is designated to be the archive device. Note: The archive device must have been previously created. 4. Click Submit to save the record. TruVision TVR 10 and DVSRxU Video Devices Alarm notifications By default, these devices do not automatically notify the Facility Commander video subsystem when an alarm occurs. The alarms and notifications must be setup and configured on the device. Please refer to the device documentation on how to enable notification for the alarms/events in the table below. The table also shows the mapping of the device alarm/event types to the Facility Commander alarm types. 11 Video device search These devices only support searching for alarms and motion detection. Event search (events generated by Video Triggers from FCWnx) and Text search are not available. Motion search retrieves motion detection events that have been configured and detected on the device itself. The motion search for these devices is not for post-recording motion search. Therefore, selecting a region of interest is not used for motion searches for these devices. Restoring the Facility Commander or database After installing the Facility Commander application, if the database from a previous installation of Facility Commander (version or 2.2.2) is to be used, the following steps are required: To restore the Facility Commander or database using SQL Server 2008 Management Studio: 1. Click Start, Programs, Microsoft SQL Server 2008, and then SQL Server Management Studio. The Connect to Server page opens. 2. In the Connect to Server page, enter the following information, and then click Connect. Server type: Select Database Engine from the drop down Server Name: Select the name of this computer from the drop down list or type in the name Authentication: Select SQL Server Authentication from the drop down list Log in name: Type sa Password: Type the sa password 3. In the Object Explorer pane, right-click on the Databases folder, and then click Restore Database. 4. The Restore Database page opens. Under Destination for restore, To database field, select or enter isis. Facility Commander Release Notes 11

12 5. Under Source for restore, click the From device radio button, and then click... to open the Specify Backup page. 6. In the Specify Backup page, click Add, and then browse to the backup file. Click Ok. Note: If the backup file is on another computer in your network, create a folder on your computer hard drive, and then move the file to your Facility Commander server into the newly created folder. 7. Click OK to close the Specify Backup page. 8. Select the backup file you just added by checking the Restore check box. 9. In the Select a page navigation pane, select Options. 10. In the Restore options section, select Overwrite the existing database. 11. Click OK. The Progress windowpane shows the progress of the restoration. 12. Upon completion, you should receive a message stating that the restore was successful. Click OK. Run the database schema script To run the FCCApplyDBScripts.exe file to update your database schema: 1. Insert the Facility Commander Installation DVD into your Facility Commander Server. 2. When the AutoPlay page opens, click Open folder to view files using Windows Explorer. 3. Double-click the dbmigration folder, and then double-click the sqlserver folder to open its contents. 4. Double-click the FCCApplyDBScripts.exe file to run the database schema script. 5. The Apply Database Scripts page opens. Enter the following information, and then click OK. 13 Database Password: Enter the sa password (default SecurityMaster08) Database Server: Enter the database server name in the form hostname\instance 6. Once the database schema script is complete, click OK. 7. Reboot the server. Facility Commander Release Notes 13
