1 BANDSTAND WHISKY LIST We are proud to present our whisky list. It contains over 150 of the finest Scotch single malt whiskies in the world and includes whiskies from our fine local distilleries. PROPRIETORS SPECIAL RESERVE We recommend you examine our whiskys. These have been specially selected from our Proprietor s private collection for their exceptional quality and rarity. LOCAL WHISKYS Benromach Distillery outside Nairn by Forres (founded 1898). Two experienced distillers create Benromach from fine Scottish barley and spring water from nearby Romach Hills. Royal Brackla Distillery located outside Nairn on the road to Cawdor. Founded in 1812, one of only three distilleries entitled to be called Royal. Known as The King s Own Whisky because of King William IV s taste for it. Tomatin Distillery located in the Monadhliath Mountains just south of Inverness. Founded in 1897, Tomatin is one of the highest distilleries in Scotland at 315 metres above sea level. How to Taste Whisky Tasting whisky is very personal and each whisky is different, but there are three things to look out for:- Aroma Swirl around your glass to slowly take in the different aromas. Taste Sip, roll the whisky around your mouth. Feel the flavours and taste. Finish The sensation that lingers in your mouth after swallowing. Whiskys are often described as either Smoky, Rich, Delicate or Light as shown in this whisky map. Salt spray, wood spices, dark peat, dark chocolate and stewed prunes. Medium-bodied. Gentle wood smoke and barley sugars, hints of hay. Black pepper with orange and apple flavours. Peat edge.
