4 Online Learning Refers to the electronic access of asynchronous training, such as a slide show presentation, an audio or video presentation, a web-based exam, or a document (e.g., a Standard Operating Procedure manual). AICC Aviation Industry CBT Consortium Uses HTTP (HCAP) to communicate back and forth between Plateau & Content Server We are provided with a link to where the content resides on the content server. Requires 4 text files:.crs = Course.cst = Course Structure.des = Description.au = Assignable Unit 4
5 SCORM Shareable Content Object Reference Model Created by DOD Version 1.2 utilized AICC API calls Communicates via standard API that introduces crossdomain constraints Cross-domain Applet Reverse Proxy We support SCORM 1.2 and 2004 (2 nd & 4 th Edition) Uses Single Manifest XML file AICC Wrapper Allows you to create a content object in the system to wrap a document and require users to read and accept or reject. Provided as a courtesy to our customers 5
6 Content Objects Users can launch content objects from an online or a blended item. Specifies the location and the launch method within LMS. Managing Online Content Content objects are the building blocks of an online item. A content object is a pointer to a single, launchable file. 6
7 Communication Standards AICC SCORM: SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004, SCORM th edition SuccessFactors Learning Content Object SCORM Sharable Content Object (SCO) AICC Assignable Unit (AU) Online Content Process Build online content packages in tool of choice. Publish in preferred standard (AICC, SCORM) Test the content in the appropriate test suite Build Content Place on server Add new content objects and packages if desired Wrap any companion documents with the AICC wrapper Build Content Object Build any associated exam Build Item Create the item record and add the appropriate content objects, exams, etc Test the completion/tracking of the content Build out all other item details including catalog and subject area assignment Add to Curriculum Place one or more items into a curriculum Configure and test required by dates Assign Build an assignment profile that matches the user population and assign the curriculum to the target audience Propagate the assignment profile Monitor Run learning needs, online item status, and learning history reports to monitor progress The curriculum item details report is key to monitoring compliance with the curriculum assignment/completions 7

Administrators assign content objects with one or more items. A content object specifies the location of the online content (file or URL address). The actual content does not reside within SuccessFactors Learning; content is typically stored on a content server. 9

14 Lab 2: Create an Online Item Create a new Item in the system called Current Events Attach all content objects from Lab 1 to the new item Content must be completed in the following order: Google, MSN, CNN Update the catalog and subject area (KSO-GEN, GEN HR) Launch the content as a user. Complete each module and ensure that the item moves to your learning history. Show your instructor the Certificate of Completion Modify an Existing Item 14

20 Content Package Grouping of content objects. Convenient way to organize content for multiple item assignments. Content packages are particularly important for SCORM 2004 (and SCORM Ed.) content as they ensure needed sequencing and navigation information is available to SuccessFactors Learning. Lesson Check 1.
