Proceed to the Metropolitan Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, Warsaw s oldest Gothic church, which was visited by John Paul II during His each pilgrimage to Poland. This is also the resting place of Cardinal of Poland, Stefan Wyszynski. On the wall of the cathedral you can also see a special plague that memorizes Pope s first pilgrimage to Poland. It says: John Paul II Pope the Pole from this cathedral started His pilgrimage to His homeland June 2 nd, Lunch to be served at one of the Old Town restaurants and time to taste typical Polish dishes, such as famous pierogi (dumplings) and famous Warsaw cream-cake Zygmuntowka.

2 Afterwards, drive to St. Stanislaw Kostka Church where you will also see a special exhibition devoted to Father Jerzy Popiełuszko, a great personality of Catholic Church murdered by militant security police in On June 14 th, 1987 John Paul II visited St. Kostka Church and prayed in front of the tomb of Father Jerzy, afterwards embraced the tomb and kissed it. Thanks to John Paul II efforts, the year 2010 will witness Father Jerzy Popiełuszko s beatification. July 23, 2016 Saturday Warsaw Czestochowa- Auschwitz-Zakopane, Breakfast & Lunch Drive to Częstochowa RELIGIOUS CENTER OF POLAND one of the most important places of religious worship in the Christian World with traditions of pilgrimage that go back to the 14 th century. Visit Jasna Gora Monastery and its famous shrine which houses the Black Madonna, venerated by some as the Queen of Poland where John Paul II devoted himself to the Lady of Czestochowa, saying Totus Tuus. See the Basilica with Black Madonna Shrine, the exhibition devoted to the 600-years of the Monastery, the Armory Room, as well as the Treasury Room with precious gifts, including the Gold Rose given by Saint John Paul II. After lunch drive to Auschwiz-Birkenau, theformer death camp known as Konzentratrionslager Auschwitz, where we visit the cell of the martyred St. Maximilian Kolbe. In the cell no 18 you can see a special plaque and a candle left by Pope after He prayed there. Continue your drive to Zakopane for overnight. July 24, 2016 Sunday Zakopane, Breakfast & Dinner Afternoon visit of Zakopane including the famous Krupówki Street, the Jaszczurówka Chapel the great example of the wooden architecture in Zakopane and the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Fatima at Krzeptówki, which was built by people of Zakopane to thank the Lady of Fatima for saving Pope s after a stroke on John Paul II s life. After Pope s visit in Zakopane the authorities of the city decided to change its 19 th century coat-of-arms. Now it shows the portrait of the Giewont cross with the keys of St. Peter from the Vatican device.

3 Dinner to be served at a local restaurant serving very good the traditional cooking based on cabbage and potatoes. The must is the smoked sheepcheese, oscypek, sauerkraut soup, kwaśnica, or lamb meat. For tired travellers a highlander tea (with vodka) and śliwowica lacka, strong plums brandy. During the dinner will be performed highlander music, songs and dances. July 25, 2016 Monday Zakopane-Ludzmierz -Krakow, Breakfast & Lunch Morning departure for Krakow. En route stop at Ludźmierz - RELIGIOUS CENTER OF HIGHLANDERS to visit the oldest Sanctuary in the Podhale region. Place where Pope John Paul II often arrived and prayed with His beloved mountaineers. It was here, during one of His visits as a Bishop of Krakow, when an apple fallen down from the hands of the figure of Our Lady Queen of Podhale and stopped by the foots of Karol Wojtyla. Many read this sign as a signal that the Bishop of Krakow will become a Pope one day. See the miraculous figure of Our Lady Queen of Podhale. Drive to Krakow. Upon arrival orientation walk through the Old Town. 4 August 1, Monday Krakow-Wroclaw-Poznan, Breakfast & Lunch Departure for Poznan, one of the oldest cities in Poland, and one of the most important centers in the early Polish state. Poznan is also the city of The Five Martyrs, a young Salesians from the Oratory of Poznan - Franciszek Kesy, Edward Klinik, Jarogniew Wojciechowski, Czesław Jóźwiak and Edward Kaźmierski who were murdered by Nazis during the WWII. They were condemned simply for belonging to Catholic organizations, which it was suspected might give rise to resistance movements. En route stop in Wroclaw, the Cultural Capital of Europe Have a short walk and visit to the Ostrow Tumski Island where first settlement was established in the 9th century with the imposing Gothic Cathedral, numerous of smaller churches and bishop s residences. Lunch at one of the local restaurants and continue to Poznan. Afternoon tour of Poznan where you will see the monumental Cathedral of St. Peter and St. Paul in Ostrow Tumski, an island among water of river Warta and Cybina, where, as legend says, Poznan was founded. Ostrow Tumski is also one of the most interesting complexes of Gothic and Baroque architecture in Poland. This sacred city abounds in historical sights of which the most important ones include the Cathedral, the oldest in the country. August 2, Tuesday Poznan-Gniezno-Lichen-Niepokalanow-Warsaw, Breakfast & Dinner After breakfast departure for Warsaw. In 2016 we will celebrate the 1050 anniversary of the baptism of Poland. First drive to Gniezno which is is the cradle of Polish state and the first capital of Poland. The most famous is the Gniezno Cathedral with its Portal one of the most precious relics of Romanesque art in Europe. Continue to Lichen, the second largest Sanctuary in Poland. The church is dedicated to Our Lady of Sorrows, Queen of Poland whose icon, perhaps dating back to the 18th century, is displayed in the basilica s main altar. It is one of Poland s principal pilgrimage sites. On your way to Warsaw also stop in Niepokalanow to visit the Franciscan Monastery which is linked with the figure of Saint Maximilian Maria Raymond Kolbe a martyr from the death camp in Auschwitz-Birkenau. See the Niepokalanow Basilica and a special exhibition devoted to the life and work of Saint Maximilian Kolbe. Drive to Warsaw for your farewell dinner.
