2 FOR COLLECTORS EDITORIAL National opening of the Norwegian Constitution Bicentennial The Norwegian Constitution Bicentennial was formally opened by King Harald on 16 February. Norway Post was at the opening with personalised stamps and a special cancellation. The stamps and the special cover can be ordered from our webshop or using the included order form. Stamp Special cover 70 Dear Customer, On 17 March Norway Post issued the third and final miniature sheet in the Nordic series, The North by the Sea. This year s theme was ships, and a natural choice for us here in Norway was our offshore industry. The ship on the stamp, M/S Normand Arctic, is a supply ship from Solstad Offshore in Skudeneshavn. Gina Rose designed the miniature sheet. The theme for this year s tourist stamps is Vikings. A Viking woman and Viking warriors are depicted on the domestic and Europe denominations, while the Viking ship, Draken Harald Hårfagre, is depicted on the World denomination. Kristin Granli designed the stamps. Thor Heyerdahl is undoubtedly one of the world s most well-known Norwegians. On the 100 th anniversary of his birth, Heyerdahl is being celebrated with four self-adhesive stamps designed by Benjamin Stenmarck. At the same time, a prestige booklet is being issued with the same stamps printed on gummed paper. Kind regards, Halvor Fasting Director Countdown On 3 April it was 100 days left until the year s big sailing event starts in Fredrikstad. From Fredrikstad the ships will sail to Bergen, and on 24 July there will be a spectacular opening ceremony with Bergen s pride, Statsraad Lehmkuhl, playing a central role as it celebrates its centennial. On 12 April it was only 100 days left until the celebration in Bergen. Norway Post will be on location in both Fredrikstad and Bergen during The Tall Ships Races. We have also created countdown cancellations for personalised stamps. Price of stamp: Price of envelope: Reprints The 16 stamp in the Wildlife in Norway series (NK 1743) has been reprinted with a print date of 8 January The stamp was first used on 22 January Note that the stamp this time is printed on self-adhesive paper, while the first edition was printed on gummed paper. Update: The reprint run of the Posthorn stamp that was announced in Stamp Magazine No. 1/2014 was first used on the following dates: NK øre: 16 December 2013 NK : 8 January

In this issue the stamps have ships as their motifs. The Nordic folder contained all eight miniature sheets from the Nordic postal organisations. In addition, the folder also included information about the stamps in both English and language of the stamp s country. The prestige booklet also includes a sheet that has all four of the stamps. New prestige booklet: 100 th anniversary of the birth of Thor Heyerdahl When he passed away in 2002, Thor Heyerdahl was probably the most internationally recognised Norwegian of all time. In honour of the 100th anniversary of his birth, he is being celebrated with four stamps. The stamps are issued in rolls of 100 self-adhesive stamps. The prestige booklet is 32 pages and includes a text about Thor Heyerdahl. In addition, we have been given access to the Kon-Tiki Museum s photo archives and can show rare pictures from Thor Heyerdahl s life. Variety While the stamps in rolls are self-adhesive, the stamps in the prestige booklet are on gummed paper. The prestige booklet is printed in a limited stock of only 10,000 copies.
