1 DEMO MANUAL DC44A LTM460AEV 0V, A DC/DC µmodule Regulator DESCRIPTION Demonstration circuit 44 features the LTM 460AEV, a high efficiency, high density switch mode step-down power module. The DC44A accepts an input voltage from to 0V to deliver a jumper selectable output voltage from.v to at up to A. As shown in the data sheet, derating is necessary for certain V IN, V OUT, and thermal conditions. The LTM460A allows the user to program output ramp-up and ramp-down through the TRACK/SS pin. The output can be set to coincidentally or ratiometrically track with another voltage rail. This board also supports demonstration of the output voltage margining function by ±5% from nominal which is determined by the state of the MARGN0 and MARGN pins. Refer to the LTM460A data-sheet for additional information. 2 DEMO MANUAL DC44A QUICK START PROCEDURE Demonstration circuit 44 is easy to set up to evaluate the performance of the LTM460AEV. Please refer to Figure for proper measurement equipment setup and follow the procedure below:. Place jumpers in the following positions for a typical. OUT application: V OUT SELECT RUN MARG0 MARG. ON LO LO. With the power off, connect the input power supply, load and meters as shown in Figure. Preset the load to 0A and V IN supply between to 0V.. Turn on the power at the input. The output voltage should be. ±. 4. Once the proper output voltage is established, adjust the load within the operating range and observe the output voltage regulation, ripple voltage, efficiency and other parameters. Output ripple should be measured at J4 with a BNC cable. 5. (Optional) To review load transient performance, apply an adjustable pulse signal between IOSTEP (E) and GND pins. Pulse amplitude sets the current step. The pulse signal should have very small duty cycle (<5%) to limit the thermal stress on the transient load circuit. The output transient current can be monitored at BNC connector J (0mV/A). 6. (Optional) To implement output voltage margining, place jumpers MARG0 and MARG in the configuration shown according to the table below. The output voltage measured at J4 will respond accordingly.
