4 PURPOSE: CALD Sector Mapping Study Map out the CALD sector and determine their status in regards to NDIS readiness Build the capacity of CALD organisations and community groups that : Are currently not providing disability services to enter into the disability services market Are currently providing disability services but are not funded, to operate under the NDIS Increase the level of engagement of the CALD sector in the disability system

5 AIMS: CALD Sector Mapping Study To find out the nature and extent of involvement of multicultural and ethno-specific organisations and groups in the disability sector To discover the nature and sources of disability funding received by multicultural and ethno-specific sector To learn about extent of interest & capacity to be disability & NDIS ready To investigate the type of support CALD organisations & groups need to become NDIS ready To explore perceptions and observations regarding the availability of CALD-appropriate disability support services and gaps.

8 RESULTS: CALD Sector Mapping Study Only a small number (4) of multicultural or ethno-specific organisations in NSW receive specific disability funding Considerable variability of interest and capacity to work in disability The multicultural sector has a suite of skills which could be an asset to the disability sector in NSW: work in aged care settlement services case management approaches culturally appropriate information and service delivery Key gaps in knowledge and competence to address, though with few resources available to do so.

9 RESULTS: CALD Sector Mapping Study A desire for culturally appropriate and meaningful information about the NDIS and its impact on the lives of people with disability Need for capital funding and support specifically for ethno-specific and multicultural organisations and groups who wish to enter the NDIS space Critical need for capacity building to develop a sustainable CALD appropriate service system Critical need for people with disability from CALD backgrounds to understand and use the NDIS

14 ii. One-On-One Support from SSCs 1 day per organisation to conduct Self Assessment, identify areas to work on and draft needs plan- Approx. End Mar 2016 Up to 4 days per organisation to complete areas of need and get them over the line - Approx. April-May 2016

Business Development Initiatives (BDIs) (Financial Assistance) Will be determined by the results of the Self Assessment conducted with SSCs, capacity & identified disability areas of interest - Approx.
