3 What is AIESEC? With more than members in 126 countries, AIESEC is the biggest student-run organisation in the world. This has not always been the case. We grew from the collaboration and efforts of students from seven countries in 1948, who believed that teaching the next generation about responsible leadership would be the solution to the global threat of war. In 2016, AIESEC is an international platform for young people to explore and develop their leadership potential. At AIESEC, we believe that if we select young, smart people and help them in becoming global-minded leaders, the positive impact we can have together is enormous. In order to have this impact, we offer international exchange experiences that will increase intercultural understanding, which can be either professional or voluntary. To accommodate this service, we select talented, assertive and ambitious young people for a board year. These board members enable the impact this organisation can have on people, and we d love to see if you ll be one of them. A summary of our mission, vision and projects can by found here! Of the members AIESEC has globally, around 300 of them are based in the Netherlands. AIESEC the Netherlands consists of 11 committees, with Amsterdam being the largest. In , AIESEC Amsterdam will consist of three teams, who are each responsible for one product of AIESEC. The ogip team is responsible for sending Dutch students abroad on professional internships. They attract, select, prepare and coach students who wish to go abroad with AIESEC and want to develop their leadership skills during their internship. They create internship positions at various Dutch companies and select, match, receive and coach international students. Each team has a coördinator, who are members of the Executive Board. The Executive Board consists of full-time members and is led by the Head Office; the Local Committee President and the Vice President Finance and External Relations. 7 Expectations Shared responsibility Aside from the specific tasks mentioned above, all members of AIESEC Amsterdam share responsibility for the performance of the entire group. Therefore, you are expected to spend time helping other teams. This might involve giving short presentations during lectures, liking and sharing Facebook messages, picking trainees up from the airport, and other activities. Time Board members within AIESEC serve an important role within the team. In order to make sure we can guarantee both qualitative and quantitative performance, we expect every part-time member of AIESEC Amsterdam to spend 15 to 20 hours a week on your tasks and responsibilities. Some of these hours are flexible; you decide when you come to the office, or whether you work from home. Some hours however, are mandatory or are decided upon as a group. Among the mandatory hours are for example the Monday evening. From 18:00 you ll have dinner with your team, your team meeting, and then the LC meeting, where everyone from AIESEC Amsterdam comes together. After that, we have drinks together. Among the events decided upon as a group, there are for example function-specific meetings. You play a role in deciding when they are, and you are expected to be present. Furthermore, AIESEC offers national conferences, international conferences, weekends away and trainings. AIESEC puts money and effort in hosting these events and to make sure members get the most out of their AIESEC board year we expect our members to be present. Please take into consideration that Take Over period starts at the last week of May until the 30th of June. In this period members will have multiple take over moments with their predecessor and four events that will take place between the 20th of May and the 2nd of July. In the summer, most projects are less intense. We don t have meetings, and it s perfectly possible to go on holiday. Some work has to be done though, as a lot of Dutch students are abroad with AIESEC, and they need to be guided and managed. Contribution AIESEC Amsterdam offers lunch everyday at the office, and drinks on Monday are paid for by the organisation. To finance this, we ask a monthly contribution of 35,- of all of our members. Furthermore, Conferences, weekends and other trips require contributions that vary per event. 7
