18 CASE STUDY Digital signage drives up Burger King business Saville screens on the menu Leading fast-food operator Burger King has installed new digital signage systems at 27 sites located across the UK motorway network in Welcome Break service areas. The installed systems comprise LG 42 LED displays driven by BrightSign digital media players. Content held in the cloud can be quickly updated onto the screens locally by the restaurant staff to maximise response to changes in customer traffic. Welcome Break brand manager Lee Birchnall explained: We have been running the new systems for just over a year and have seen a definite growth in ROI. The screens help present a fresh modern, theatre style image to the sites. The system is very flexible and gives us the ability to use national promotional materials such as TV ads, which have a proven record of driving traffic to the restaurants. Reduced dependency on printed promotional materials means we have the added benefit of increased carbon efficiency whilst saving trees into the bargain!

19 Saville MediSign Just what the doctor ordered CASE STUDY A simple signage solution for General Practice and Primary Care providers Saville MediSign is a new, flexible, digital signage system. Distributed via display monitors and interactive touch screens, it provides an intuitive and effective way to keep patients fully informed whilst waiting to be seen. Within weeks of its launch, the Saville MediSign package was installed and commissioned at Oakwood Medical Practice an NHS reference site in Leeds. A single signage player is used to send content via a distribution system to a 65 Saville Commercial LED display, installed as the main focus of a Wall of Health feature. To complement this master display, three 32 satellite displays are fitted around the practice waiting areas. When a doctor calls a patient, the signage content is interrupted and the patient s name and relevant doctor is displayed as a full screen message, together with an audible alert to notify them to go to their appointment. Two further touch screens show additional health related content, but when touched they enable patients to sign in to the practice, before the screen reverts back to the signage. The system enables staff to create and upload multiple messages with a minimal amount of training. Health messages can be displayed on-screen along with news, weather or travel information, creating an ideal and easily managed messaging system for even the largest of patient waiting areas. Staff can update messages in seconds and different areas of the screens can be individually assigned to particular members of staff to update, all with password protection.
