2 Summary / Overview Quietly, Scene Digital has continued development of a web-based, content management and distribution platform that offers users a unique combination of flexibility, ease of use, scalability and sheer reliability at a surprisingly low cost. We call it CloudScene, but we haven t been shouting about it. That s because it s been developed specifically for resellers & OEMs to take to market under their own brands. And because we re confident that, once you see exactly what it can do and how well it can do it, you ll want to tell your customers about it. At its simplest level, CloudScene offers practical solutions for putting digital content on screens; enabling any number of displays to be deployed wherever they re needed and managed remotely. There s no need for end-users to install software, manage servers or undergo extensive training. CloudScene is comprised of a web service which securely communicates with media players (clients) connected to your screens. Furthermore, CloudScene has an open Application Interface (API) allowing it to handle requests from external services to control displays. This means that our systems can be readily extended to display information from any source, or cater for pretty much any interactive requirement; all supported by our dedicated team of Cambridge-based developers, which enables us to provide genuinely bespoke signage and content management solutions. It s ready to go when you are. The intuitive CloudScene web service allows you to control each and every one of your screens, from any location, using any modern web browser. All managed by Scene Digital and securely hosted by Amazon. Media players all run the reliable CloudScene operating system (OS). Resellers locally procure their own compatible player (hardware) and can install the system in just a few minutes. Scene Digital provide the OS and maintain it.

3 Cloud based The web service gives you total control of your system, content and displays from any location in the world, and may even be managed from a phone or tablet. Compatible media players running the CloudScene operating system directly MEDIA PLAYER (CloudScene OS) communicate with the web service, forming a secure closed system which is centrally managed. The latest content is delivered to players on-request, where it is cached; minimising network bandwidth requirements and ensuring continuity in ios HD case of communication failure. In addition, an ios client is available enabling ipads to be used as screens or SECURE & RELIABLE HOST Amazon hosted for speed & resilience MEDIA PLAYER (ios Client) MEDIA PLAYER (CloudScene OS) interactive devices. For special applications we also offer a Windows client.

4 Rebrandable / Choice of media players Rebrandable Our business model is to offer CloudScene only to OEMs and resellers, which is why we have made it completely white-label; enabling you to customise your offering and market it entirely under your own brand, using your preferred hardware with very attractive margins. We have also included a multi-lingual interface allowing for international roll-outs. Choice of Media Players We re not looking to make a margin on the hardware we ll leave that to our resellers. For supply and maintenance it also makes more sense for resellers to provide players locally. The CloudScene OS is compatible with a wide range of x86-based hardware, and can run on compact media players or even re-purposed PCs. A document is available from Scene Digital detailing current hardware specifications which are compatible with the CloudScene OS. We recognise that Tablets are increasingly being used as signage clients. To support this we also offer an ios application to turn an ipad into a neat CloudScene client. For special applications - such as integration with audience metrics software, or certain corporate environments - we also offer a full CloudScene client that runs under Windows. The CloudScene content management service may even be targeted to non-standard embedded display devices talk to us about your requirement.

5 Easy to use drag and drop interface Most signage systems are too complicated and feature rich. With CloudScene simplicity is the key: a straightforward interface enables users to rapidly upload and tag content, create playlists, design screen layouts and manage their network of screens using a familiar drag and drop process. Within seconds any content may be displayed on any number of screens. A number of powerful, sophisticated yet intuitive tools are also provided, including flexible scheduling, content widgets, detailed reporting and smart playlists which enable even non-technical users to mix different kinds of content into a slideshow. 6 Tagging Whilst drag and drop makes it simple to manually assign content, this process can be automated using one of CloudScene s most powerful features: Tagging. Tagging enables automatic playlist generation and content assignment. By adopting consistent naming conventions to tag content (e.g. by site or subject matter) or displays (e.g. by location or department), smart playlists based on filter rules for specific tags can be created on the fly and automatically assigned to the appropriate displays saving management time.

7 Content flexibility CloudScene natively handles a wide variety of formats, enabling users to create content with familiar and standard applications for images, documents, and video without having to learn yet another authoring tool. Its support for standards such as HTML, Flash, PowerPoint, PDF and RSS enables screen layouts including text, graphics, video and audio to be created easily, whilst scripts, news feeds or database engines can provide real-time updates to live displays. The system s flexibility in allowing users to create free-form layouts over a background layer enables you to mix and match all these different content types on individual screens. Each player s in-built HTML 5 browser ensures compatibility with rich media sources (such as streaming Flash video) enabling direct display of almost any on-line content. CloudScene Widgets can produce a pre-formatted display of popular on-line content from sources such as Twitter, and even handle interactive user input. 8 Secure hosting and content flow CloudScene media players must communicate with the web service in order to operate. The service is hosted by Amazon for speed, security, scalability and resilience. All communication with the web service is via secure, encrypted (HTTPS) Content Flow WWW RSS LIVE SERVICES ROUTER LOCAL CONTENT (private) channels. CloudScene offers status monitoring, user authorisation and management tools. Media players are directed to fetch pre-loaded content from Amazon, or are provided with a URL (and authorisation) enabling them to directly obtain content from anywhere on the web or local (private) sources. LAN When content is uploaded to the web service by a user it is stored on Amazon s servers. Content is delivered to a player on-demand MANAGE & UPLOAD and locally cached. Content fetched directly by a player (via a URL) SECURE HOSTING (uploaded content) SITE (one of many) is not uploaded to the web service. You can be assured that content provided by local servers remains completely private and secure.

9 Open API flexibility / CloudScene OS Open API flexibility CloudScene is all about displaying any information on any kind of screen; whether static, moving or interactive. This means the system may be utilised in all manner of vertical applications not commonly associated with signage such as process monitoring or kiosks. The Application Interface (API) provides the key to handling requests from external services to control displays. By creating custom web applications, you can utilise CloudScene in non-traditional ways to gain more sales opportunities; for example by interactively controlling displays (via touch, Twitter, SMS, etc), interfacing to databases and other live information feeds and formatting the data, as well as triggering different playlists in response to external input. CloudScene OS We ve all seen large screens prominently displaying the Windows blue screen of death or an error message dialog when something goes wrong! With CloudScene media players you can be sure that this is never going to happen, as they are running on our own customised version of Linux, designed to integrate tightly with the web service. 10 One-touch status display The CloudScene operating system has been designed to ensure that media players are extremely straightforward to install on site, without the need for engineers: simply plug in three cables (to connect to power, to the display and to your existing network) and the system is ready to run.
