1 Spring/Summer 2014 Program support individuals of all abilities in leading active, healthy lives through participation in adaptive sports and recreational activities. The programs are delivered under the supervision of Spaulding clinicians and adaptive sports professionals, and are open to children and adults. Staff members help each participant find the most appropriate activities to meet their capabilities and help them Find Their Strength. BOSTON Adaptive Sports and Recreation PROGRAM STARTS THURSDAY, MAY 1, 2014 Activities offered: Windsurfing Stand Up Paddling Cycling Outrigger Canoeing Glide Cycling Kayaking Paddle Boating Rowing Tennis Program runs from May through October at the Spaulding Adaptive Sports Pier located at 300 First Avenue in Charlestown, MA. May: June: July: August: Tuesday and Thursday Monday through Thursday Monday through Friday Monday through Friday September: Monday through Thursday October: Tuesday and Thursday Sessions run for 90 minutes at $20 per session. Martin Memorial Golf Course, Weston, MA 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM Wednesdays: June 11, 18, 25 Cost: $40 for the series Back in the Swing: Private Adaptive Golf Instruction Spaulding Adaptive Sports offers private adaptive golf instruction with adaptive golf pro, Rick Johnson (formerly of the Hyannisport Club for over 30 years) on most Mondays at Granite Links in Quincy, MA from May through October. Private lessons can also be arranged at the course of your choice with an additional fee for travel. Cost: $75 per hour Veteran Adaptive Golf Series Golf is much more than a simple game, even for the well and able-bodied. It requires complex mental and physical concentration; it builds strength, range of motion, and balance. It can be enjoyed as a solitary sport with individual goals, and it can be a very social activity. For wounded veterans, golf offers a doorway to hope and a path to strength physical, emotional, and spiritual.
