RENEWABLE ENERGY SOCIAL MEDIA TOOLKIT The solutions to climate change are right here, right now. Help spread the word and share the #CLIMATEHOPE
INTRODUCTION The use of clean, renewable energy sources has seen incredible growth in the past decade alone, as they are becoming cheaper, more efficient, more scalable, and more widely available every day. And yet, misperceptions of renewables abound. Climate change deniers spread misinformation about the cost and practicality of using renewables. Growing investments in renewables around the world offer us the greatest source of #ClimateHope. That s why we need to spread the truth about the future of renewables. It s up to all of us! Use this social media myth-busting kit to learn the facts, dispel common myths, and help spread the truth. You may even find some #ClimateHope along the way. MAKE THE MOST OF YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA MESSAGES: Tag or mention specific friends that you know are interested in climate solutions. Post more than once. Share posts on different days of the week and different times of day to be sure your social networks see your message. Write your own! Use your own voice and share your own reasons for #ClimateHope Want more? Follow Climate Reality on Twitter and Facebook so you can share the latest updates! SOCIAL MEDIA TOOLKIT 1
SOCIAL MEDIA TOOLS: RENEWABLES DO YOUR PART! SHARE THESE: Copy these messages and share them on social media to spread the #ClimateHope. Facebook Fact: Going green doesn t hurt the economy. In 2014, the global economy grew while global carbon emissions remained stable. And that s due to increased availability of renewables! It s not too hard to switch to renewables. A clean and green future is possible! New investments in renewable power totaled at least $301B in 2014 alone. Renewable resources are the answer to climate change. Renewables accounted for nearly 28% of the world s power generating capacity in 2014, and more renewable energy capacity was added than coal and gas combined! We can earn more green with green energy! Renewables are increasingly costcompetitive in many countries, and without fossil fuel subsidies, they re actually even cheaper. Twitter Renewables are the answer to climate change, and #ClimateHope is a renewable Clean energy is one of the world s fastest growing industries & employed 7.7M around the world in 2014! Time for a clean slate! Breaking up with fossil fuels won t hurt the economy, so let s move on to renewables SOCIAL MEDIA TOOLKIT 2
SOCIAL MEDIA TOOLS: RENEWABLES Dear friend, If you re like me, you ve been hearing the news about climate change and wondering what we can do. Which is why the more I learn about renewable energy, the more hopeful I become. Renewables like wind and solar keep getting more affordable and widespread every year, and even major economies like Germany and China are increasingly shifting to clean energy and away from the dirty fossil fuels driving climate change. To learn more, check out these blog posts from The Climate Reality Project: The Future of Clean Energy is Looking Up An Idea Whose Time Has Come: Why Net Zero Emissions Is The Way of the Future Carbon Pollution And Solutions In Five Images On The Road to a Clean Energy Future Renewable Energy is Growing in Use The good news is that world leaders are meeting in Paris this year to build on this momentum and create a historic global agreement to cut the greenhouse gases behind climate change and expand renewables across the planet. We can help make this happen. Join me in demanding that leaders take climate action now at Thanks for joining me in supporting this important cause, Your name SOCIAL MEDIA TOOLKIT 3

SOCIAL MEDIA TOOLS: SOLAR POWER DO YOUR PART! SHARE THESE: Copy these messages and share them on social media to spread the #ClimateHope. Facebook Global solar PV capacity has increased from 3.7 gigawatts in 2004 to 177 gigawatts in That s nearly 48x the solar in just 10 years! With so much progress in such a short time, the future of solar power looks bright. Solar power presents shining opportunities. It employs over 2.5 million people around the world! Solar power is a ray of #ClimateHope! Things are only looking up as solar power gets cheaper and more efficient every day. Twitter Let the sun shine! Solar power capacity around the world has increased nearly 48x in 10 years. I d put my money on the sun and solar energy. Thomas Edison. RT if the future of solar gives you The cost of solar panels today is about 100x lower than in 1977, and sunshine is free! Spread #ClimateHope SOCIAL MEDIA TOOLKIT 5
SOCIAL MEDIA TOOLS: SOLAR POWER Dear friend, Did you know that solar power capacity has increased nearly 48x in the past 10 years? And that solar panel costs have gone down more than 99 percent since 1977? These are just two reasons to have hope about the bright future of solar power. Solar power is a practical solution to climate change. While many may think solar power is too costly, the truth is that it can actually be cheaper than energy from fossil fuels if we make the right investments. Read more about the future of solar power to understand why I m so hopeful: The Future s Looking Up For Solar Solar Success Stories It s time to say no to devastating climate change and yes to a healthy and prosperous future powered by renewables.
