1 FRC Kickoff Volunteer Roles Non-Technical Positions Team Check-In/Registration Position summary This individual is responsible for managing team check-in at kickoff. Register participating teams at the Local Kickoff event Distribute packets of information to registered teams FIRST experience not required Strong interpersonal and communication skills Attention to detail Kickoff day will be on the job Workshop Trainer This individual develops and delivers specialized training(s) at Kickoff. Develop and deliver training FIRST experience not required Strong interpersonal and communication skills Specialized skills to be taught in workshop Pre-event preparation and kickoff day This individual reports to the Kickoff Coordinator

2 FRC Kick-off Volunteer Roles Pre-Event, NDA Required and/or Technical Positions Audio Visual This individual is responsible for obtaining and operating the equipment necessary to screen the Kickoff Broadcast. Obtain any equipment necessary to screen the broadcast Screen the broadcast during kickoff FIRST experience not required Audio visual experience Pre-event preparation + kickoff day Field Builder This individual reviews blueprints, obtains tools and construction materials, recruits and supervises Field Builder assistants, and constructs a field or field elements for kickoff. Sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement Retrieve Field Drawings from Box.com Obtain materials, supplies, and tools Recruit and supervise Field Builder assistants Construct field elements Help ensure the security and secrecy of the FRC field prior to kickoff Transport components to event location if necessary Assemble field or field elements at kickoff FIRST experience not required but strongly recommended Ability to follow a blueprint Attention to detail Construction skills

3 Construction of elements happens in the week before kickoff. Field may be assembled the night before kickoff or early kickoff morning dependent upon local requirements. Field Builder Assistant This individual assists in the construction of a field or field elements for kickoff under the direction and supervision of the Field Builder. Sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement Assists in the construction of field or field elements Assists in transporting field elements to event location if necessary Assists in assembling field or field elements at kickoff Help ensure the security and secrecy of the FRC field prior to kickoff FIRST experience not required but strongly recommended Ability to follow a blueprint Attention to detail Construction skills Construction of field or field elements happens in the week before kickoff. Field may be assembled the night before kickoff or early kickoff morning dependent upon local requirements. This individual reports to the Field Builder. Kickoff Coordinator The Kickoff Coordinator is responsible for all aspects of planning and executing a Local Kickoff. Sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement Participate in local Kickoff training Find and reserve a location for the Local Kickoff Obtain any equipment necessary to screen the broadcast Decide if a field will be constructed and recruit Field Builder volunteers to build the field if needed Decide if workshops will be offered and organize workshops if they are to be held Decide if a robot quick build session will be offered and recruit Robot Quick Build volunteers if needed

4 Arrange for someone at a facility with a loading dock to be available to receive, secure & inventory multiple shipments during the weeks prior to kickoff Recruit volunteers to assist in preparations for and execution of the Local Kickoff Ensure Field Builder and Robot Quick Build volunteers enter their information into the Volunteer Information Management System (VIMS) and apply for role for the appropriate Local Kickoff Assign Field Builder and Robot Quick Build volunteers in Volunteer Management Systems (VMS) in order for them to receive additional instructions and information Register participating teams at the Local Kickoff event Distribute packets of information and Kits of Parts to registered teams Return all Kit of Part Receipts to FIRST immediately after the Local Kickoff Store extra/unclaimed Kit of Parts elements in a secure location and ship as directed by FIRST headquarters Complete the post Kickoff survey Experience and skills needed FIRST experience not required, but very helpful Strong interpersonal and communication skills Ability to oversee and manage others Ability to collaborate with others, work as a member of a team Attention to detail Time commitment + pre-event planning and preparation + kickoff day materials will be made available via box.com. This individual works closely with the Regional Planning Committee/Regional Director and FIRST Headquarters. Kit Distribution Assistant This individual assists in the preparation and distribution of Kickoff Kits at Local Kickoff sites and works with recipients to confirm and document Kickoff Kit receipt. also include setup of all stations, tables and signage. Sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement Participate in Kickoff Kit distribution training from Kickoff Kit Distribution Lead Setup distribution stations, tables and signage Distribute Kickoff Kits to designated teams If needed, works with Kickoff Kit Distribution Lead to ensure all Kickoff Receipt acknowledgements are entered into the KitShip System (via MyEvents) at the Kickoff FIRST experience not required

Reporting relationships and supervision This individual reports to the Kickoff Kit Distribution Lead. Kickoff Kit Distribution Lead This individual inventories the Kickoff Kit shipment from FIRST s kitter, recruits and trains Kickoff Kit Distribution Assistants as needed, executes Kickoff Kit distribution from Local Kickoff sites and works with recipients to confirm and document Kickoff Kit receipt. also include setup of all stations, tables and signage. Sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement Participate in Kickoff Kit distribution training Recruit Kickoff Kit Distribution Assistants to assist in preparations for and execution of Kickoff Kit distribution Inventory Kickoff Kit shipments upon receipt and enters received quantities into the KitShip System (via MyEvents) Setup distribution stations, tables and signage Distribute Kickoff Kits to designated teams Works with Kickoff Coordinator to ensure all Kickoff Receipt acknowledgements are entered into the KitShip System (via MyEvents) at the Kickoff or within one day following Kickoff Work with the Kickoff Coordinator to store extra/unclaimed Kickoff Kit elements in a secure location and ship as directed by FIRST headquarters FIRST experience not required Strong interpersonal and communication skills Ability to oversee and manage others Ability to collaborate with others, work as a member of a team Attention to detail

6 + Pre-event preparation + kickoff day + post kickoff This person will provide training to Kickoff Kit Distribution assistants. Reporting relationships and supervision Robot Quick Build Trainer This individual reviews written curriculum, obtains training supplies, recruits and trains Robot Quick Build assistants, and executes the Robot Quick Build training at kickoff. Sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement Obtain any materials necessary to train Robot Quick Build Recruit, train and supervise volunteers to assist in preparations for and execution of the Robot Quick Build FIRST experience not required but strongly recommended Strong interpersonal and communication skills Ability to follow a written curriculum Ability to collaborate with others, work as a member of a team Attention to detail Programming, wiring and robot construction, and troubleshooting skills Pre-event preparation + kickoff day This individual will provide training to Robot Quick Build assistants.
