5 Example: aircraft assembly Goals To enable timely location of major parts and tooling equipment Reduce re-purchasing and duplication of equipment Solution overview Key aircraft components, tool kits, and assembly equipment were fitted with customised T2 tags Using the existing Cisco Aerospace WLAN access points and MobileView software to track these tagged assets in real time Boeing integrated the MobileView software with their enterprise systems, ensuring that toolkit status and location is constantly updated Outcomes Faster staging set-up time for aircraft assembly Search times for major parts and tooling has decreased Production environment is streamlined Volume of purchase replication for tooling and equipment has been reduced greatly Who? The facility was struggling to locate major parts and tooling on a timely basis, and misplaced equipment often needed to be re-purchased to continue production The site has maximised the use of AeroScout technology for site-to-site asset visibility (rotating tools, laser tracker routine/repair, drill kits, pizza cart shipping, critical part expediting, and high value one-of-a-kind shipping).
