1 JADAVPUR UNIVERSITY KOLKATA INFORM ATION BROCHURE FOR POST-GRADUATE PROGRAMMES UNDER FACULTY COUNCIL OF ENGINEERING & TECHNOLOGY FOR THE SESSION INSTRUCTIONS FOR FILLING-UP THE APPLICATION FORM (ONLINE) 1. A candidate can apply for M.E./M.Tech./M.Pharm./M.Arch Courses online through URL during the period from 20 t h April, 2016 to 6 t h M ay, Candidates are advised to download the Information Brochure and Pay -in-slip of State Bank of India to deposit Application Fee. Application fee of Rs.500/ - for each course of study is to be d epo sited through any branch of State Bank of India by filling up the down-loaded Pay-in-slip. The Journal Num ber m ust be legible in the pay-in-slip, and to be us ed in the Form & other refer enc es. Th e applicants are requ ested to k eep the count erfoil of the deposit slip for future refer enc e. Candidates should carefully read the instructions given in the Information Brochure before filling up the Application Form. Incomplete application form s are liable to be cancelled. 2. Candidates (passed / appeared or due to appear) are instructed to subm it all their self-attested m ark-sheets and GATE/GPAT card copies through SCAN while filling their ONLINE Application Form /s and bring all Original Sem ester mark -sheet and GATE/GPAT Card at the time of verification of docum ents (as Table 1) / Admission Test (as Table 2). 3. Print out of System Generated Online Application Form duly signed by the candidate along with application part of Pay-in-slip duly received by the Bank and one self attested copies of all m ark-sheet of the last qualifying exam ination and GATE Card m ust reach the following address on or before 13 t h M ay, 2016 by speed post: To The Principal Secretary, Faculty Council of & Technology, Jadavpur University, Kolkata , West Bengal. 4. Candidates are also requ est ed to keep a pho to copy of print out of System Generated Online Application Form for future refer enc e. 5. candidates (without som e courses as in Table - 1):Eligible list of candidates for verification of docum ents will be displayed on the University website given in Table - 1. * The list of candidates under GATE Category to be called f or v erification of documents will be displayed on the Univ ersity W ebsite on * The list will be prepared on t he basis of the GATE score (obtained out of 1000) and will be limited to 4 times the number of seats under GATE/General, GATE/SC and GATE/ST categories. 6. GATE/GPAT, Sponsored and Self-Sponsored candidates (Adm ission Test of Som e courses as in Table 2): Eligible list of candidates for admission test will be available on the University website as per schedul e date given in Table Candidates (GATE, Sponsored and Self-Sponsored) are requested to download their Admit-card (available under application status link) and to bring his/her adm it card duly pasting his/her recent photograph with signature in the specified space. 8. If an eligible candidate is unable to print admit card through on-line system he/she m ay contact the Office of the Faculty Council of Engg. & Tech. at least 3 days before the respective dat e of admissi on test along with the print out of system generat ed online Application Form and applicant part of Pay -in Slip. 1

As per circular No. BC-16014/1/82-SC dt.06/08/1984 & BCD-I, D.O.12017/11/89-SCD(R.CELL) dt.08/01/1990 and letter No SCW dt. 31/05/2007 from the Government of West Bengal, Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe Persons of any State other than West Bengal are not entitled to get benefits of the State for SC/ST in Educational Institutions in West Bengal. 10. Reservation of Seats for SC/ST categories have been m ade as per Government of India norm s. 3% PWD (Persons with disabilities) is reserved in Self-sponsored Category as a super num erary intake. 11. CANDIDATES ARE REQUEST ED TO BRING THE FO LLOWING SELF-ATTESTED DOCUM ENTS ALONG WITH THE ORIGINAL AT THE TIM E OF VERIFICATION OF DOCUM ENTS (AS TABLE 1) / ADMISSION TEST (AS TABLE 2) AND ALSO AT THE TIM E OF FINAL ADMISSION TO THE COURSE: a) Admit Card and Score Card of GATE/GPAT (if applicable). b) Mark-sheets and Certificates from Secondary exam ination to Undergraduate degree examination in or to Postgraduate degree examination in Science cours es and Admit Card of Admission Test. c) SC/ST Certificate issued by the Govt. of W est Bengal, PW D (Person with Disability) Certificate and Fam ily Incom e Certificate issued by the compet ent authority. d) A No Objection Certificate from the em ployer for the entire course period for Sponsored Category candidates. Relevant exp eri enc e certificate along with Pay -slip/form-16 shall be subm itted at the tim e of Adm ission Test. e) Candidates are requested to submit the Bachelor course approval letter of AICTE or UGC - AICTE-DEC Joint Committee at the time of Adm ission Test and at the tim e of Final Admission from the appropriate authority. f) Final year/sem ester appearing certificate issued by the Principal / Controller of Examinations of the University has to be produced by the candidate. 12. CANDIDATES SHOULD NO TE THE FOLLOWING: a) Submit separate Application Form for Separate Course/s through online and obtain separate rec eipt from S.B.I. with different journal number. b) After publication of 1 s t Selection List a candidate once takes adm ission according to 1 s t Selection List in any course / course with specialization, his/her selection in all other rem aining course/s will be autom atically cancelled. c) Failure to appear at the Adm ission Test on the specified date will cancel his/her candidature without any further correspondenc e. d) Registration of application or fulfillm ent of minimum eligibility criteria does not confer any right of the applicant to be called for admission test. e) Submission of application does not confer any right on the candidate for being issued Admit Card and also for being called for Admission Test/Counseling. APPLICATION FEE IS NOT REFUNDABLE UNDER ANY CIRCUM STANCES. f) The Adm ission Committee res erves th e right of not selecting any candidate who is considered physically unfit or otherwise unsuitable. g) Total num ber of seats available in any course shall first be filled up with GATE/GPAT Category (A) and Sponsored Category (B) candidates as per availability of seats in the resp ective categories as d etailed in TABLE - 3. Ther eafter, if vacancies exist, Sel f-sponsored Category (C) candidates m ay be considered to fill up such vacancies. If vacancies exist in Sponsored Category (B), then vacancies will be filled by Self-Sponsored Category (C) only. h) All J.U. courses are non- residential. Hostel seats are not guaranteed. 2

Please note that M.Sc. in Physics / Chem istry / Material Sc. / Electroni cs Sc. Candidates are eligible only for Master of Material Course and MCA Candidates are eligible only for Master of Software Course. OR Passed Mem bership/associate Mem bership Exa mination in the appropriate discipline conducted by th e following professional bodies, like Institution of Engineers (India)/Indian Institute of Architects/Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers/ Institute of Elec tronics Telecomm unication Engineers approved by Go vt. of India, with at least average Grade point 6.75 (60%) for General Candidate or Grade point 5.25 (45%) for SC/ST/PW D Candidate and qualified through GATE having valid GATE/GPAT Scoreare eligible for admission to PG courses in Engg./Tech./Arch./Pharm. as GATE category candidates. Relevant exp erienc e shall be counted after passing BE/B.Tech./B.Arch/B.Pharm or M.Sc. degree and as on last date of online submission of Application Fo rm, i.e., 13 t h May, Relevant exp erienc e certificate along with Pay-slip/Form-16 shall be subm itted at the tim e of Admission Test. However, candidates who have appeared/ are due to appear at the qualifying exam inations (B.E./B.Tech./B.Arch./B.Pharm./M.Sc../ AM IETE / AM IE Sec. A & B / AIIA), may also apply. If selected, candidate m ay be provisionally admitted provided they submit all passed m ark-sheet up to 7 t h Sem ester(9 t h Sem ester in case of Architecture) of the qualifying exam ination with required perc entag e of m arks at the tim e of admission test. If the final results are awaited on the date of interview such s elect ed candidates shall have to submit the m ark sheet of the qualifying exam ination within 3 months from the date of comm encem ent of 1 s t sem ester classes failing which or if the candidate is found to be not eligi ble in term s of percentage of m arks obtained, his/her provisional admission will be cancelled. Additional eligibility criteria against each course are given below which will supercede the minim um eligibility criteria mentioned above. Eligibility for Sports Candidates: Candidates having position 1 s t /2 n d in the Inter Zonal Inter University Com petition or having position 1 s t /2 n d /3 r d in the All India/Inter Zonal Inter University Com petition in the AIU conducted sports/gam es with m inim um percentage of marks as notified in the eligibility criteria in respecti ve course are eligible to apply as Eligible Sports candidates. However, the following criteria will be followed in case of Chess and Tenni s: Chess: candidates must have the FIDE rating 1700 or above Tennis: candidates m ust have the AITA ranking up to 500 for open (Men/Wom en) category The rating/ranking for chess & tennis on the day/week of publication of advertisement for admission is applicable. Certificates of participation in Sports / Gam es m ust be obtained from the com petent authorities. The sports achievements are to be m ade in the current calendar year (i.e., commencing from 1 s t January) and two preceding calendar years (i.e., commencing from 1 s t January) only. 3
